Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 937: Count Ashton Returned

While the misunderstanding was shocking, there were a lot of things that confused Nathanʼs mind. He thought about getting the clarification from Lilith, but the moment he opened his mouth, he suddenly felt a presence appearing behind him.

”!!!” Nathan and the others turned around, finding Count Ashton had returned.

”It took me longer than I originally thought.” Count Ashton clicked his tongue with a core in his hand. His body was covered in injury, but it didnʼt seem to be bothering him. His calm expression returned.

He solemnly walked toward them, specifically Flora, and fell to one knee. ”Luke Ashton greets Her Highness Flora. Iʼm honored to be rescued by Your Highness. Pardon my rudeness for not being able to greet you earlier, Your Highness. This favor will forever be engraved in my heart.”

Flora looked surprised at the moment. It might be because she had been too familiar with Nathan that she forgot this was the basic courtesy, especially in this kind of group.

Floraʼs expression turned solemn as she immediately stated, ”Be at ease, Count Ashton. While Iʼm a part of this group, Iʼm not the leader. Besides, I might be a princess, but I donʼt have any qualifications to inherit the throne anymore.”

”!!!” Count Ashton raised his head in surprise. Despite losing her qualification, Flora actually looked happy. After taking another look at the entire group, he understood what had actually happened. ”I see.”

”So, please be at ease and treat me as one of your daughters.” Flora smiled.

”Hahaha, Iʼm honored.” Count Ashton smiled. He then turned to Nathan. ”I see… You are the leader.”

Nathan gulped down, growing more and more tense. He had seen Count Ashtonʼs strength, but he didnʼt know how Count Ashton would react. After all, Count Ashton seemed to love Selena so much.

Still, this was a decisive moment. Nathan stepped forth and politely introduced himself, ”Please to meet you, Sir Ashton. I am Nathan. Iʼve been seeing your daughter for a few months.”

Nathan wondered how he would act if Count Ashton started acting up, like saying, ”I wonʼt let you have my daughter.”

But to his surprise, Count Ashton just had a sincere smile, as though he accepted Nathan already. He patted his shoulders once before extending his hand. ”Nice to meet you. Iʼm Luke Ashton. Thank you for taking care of my daughter this whole time. She might be inexperienced, but please continue to take care of her.”

”Eh?” Nathan raised his head, not expecting this reaction.

”Whatʼs wrong?”

”No. Iʼm sorry. I just didnʼt expect you would react like this… since you love your daughter so much.” Nathan shook his head. If he didnʼt love her so much, he wouldnʼt go all the way here to retrieve the bloodstone for her.

”Hahahaha. Thatʼs not wrong.” Count Ashton just laughed lightheartedly. ”From what I have heard from my familiar, it seems I have been suspended in that state for 12 years. I never thought it would be that long… But judging from the timing, my daughter should only be 17 years old by now, so she should only be a first-year student even if she joins the academy.

”Meanwhile, you look like you are the same age as her. I can see everyoneʼs respect in their eyes, so I can roughly guess what kind of person you are.

”And last but not least, saving me here… If itʼs that easy to save me, I would have been saved by a few people already.

”From all that, I know that youʼre leading this group all the way to this place for the sake of my daughter. The reason she is able to grow so quickly must be you.

”It doesnʼt seem you are doing something without putting much thought into it, especially this trip.

”After seeing how many aliens were around when fighting that elite class alien, I know something is happening in the world right now, making this place even more dangerous.

”Yet, despite that danger, you are still willing to risk your life to save me. As a person, Iʼm extremely grateful to you.

”As a father, I have seen people who are willing to do this for the sake of their loved ones, but not many do it in such a rational and organized manner.

”I see you are rational, strong, and talented. My daughter seems to love and respect you so much. So, do you need me to say anything else?”

”…” Nathan was speechless by Count Ashtonʼs judgment. He actually managed to reach such a conclusion in just an instant. At the same time, he was rational enough to talk with him instead of angrily solving the issue.

Before Nathan could say another word, Count Ashton actually added, while putting the core in Nathanʼs palm. ”Take this. This is just the advance dowry. I will send more once we return.”

”!!!” Nathan became even more shocked because he casually put such a priceless treasure in his hand. This was an elite class alien core they were talking about.

Nathan might get about 800,000 to 900,000 ena from this core. If he added other cores during the whole trip, it shouldnʼt be hard for him to get 1,200,000 ena.

If he held it for himself, he would have been considered an arcane level, but he planned to distribute all of them to his familiar, allowing all six familiars to have 300,000 ena each.

This way, they would unlock the early version of their divinity. With them getting stronger, the solo trip Nathan had planned previously should become safer.

Hence, there was no way Nathan could reject it.

Nathan smiled. ”I might not be unworthy of this core. You have just woken up after 12 years. A lot of things have happened in the past 12 years, so itʼs not too late for you to give such a precious item to me after listening to it.”

It was Count Ashtonʼs turn to be surprised. Nathan truly knew how it worked. Because of these words, he became more and more pleasing in Count Ashtonʼs eyes.

Count Ashton closed his eyes with a smile. ”Is that so? I will take up your offer.”
