“Are you saying that Yushi Mitsui only dared to do such a thing to you because he has mastered the core technology?”

“That’s right. And he’s more forbearing than we thought.” Caie Mitsui said,

“From what 1 understand, the largest underground organization in Sunrise Land, the Yamaguchi-gumi, is under his control. Coupled with his technical expertise, this enabled him to rise rapidly and gave him the audacity to do such things.”

After listening to Caie Mitsui’s explanation, Lin Yi immediately understood everything.

The people from the Black Gold Corporation did not come here to make a deal with the Mitsui family. Their real target was Yushi Mitsui!

This was because he was once the chief scientist of the Mitsui family. He knew the composition of the gene sequence serum better than anyone else!

Now that he was acting independently, it was very likely that he had the completed gene sequence serum!

Therefore, the people from the Black Gold Corporation must have come to look for him!

Based on these few factors, he could confirm his doubts.

From the very beginning, the man in black did not appear. This meant that the Bass ore taken from Team 1 was still in Jeffrey’s hands!

Therefore, he still had a chance!

Lin Yi heaved a sigh of relief. He had figured out the core problem. Tonight had been truly useful.

However, there were still a few important questions before him. He needed to continue deceiving Caie Mitsui.

Firstly, the people from the Black Gold Corporation had already arrived in Toyo. He did not know where they were hiding, nor when they were going to conduct the trade. Fie needed to figure this out.

Secondly, after what happened with Quantum, the people from Black Gold Corporation would definitely be extra careful. Therefore, they had to figure out how many people the other party had on their side and not be rash.

“This is a little strange,” Lin Yi said slowly and started his act again.

“How so?”

“Given your current relationship, he wouldn’t dare touch you for any reason, unless there’s another reason.”

Caie Mitsui didn’t realize that this was Lin Yi’s strategy.

In her opinion, with Lin Yi’s intelligence, it was only natural that he would think of this. It would be strange if he didn’t realize this.

“I suppose he might just have sent someone to keep an eye on me, afraid I’d spoil things for him.”

“Why would you do that?” Lin Yi acted like he didn’t know anything.

After hesitating for a few seconds, Caie Mitsui said,

“Do you remember the people who followed us after making the deal with me on Quantum?”

“I still remember.”

“That group of people is here again, but their target is Yushi Mitsui. He’s afraid that I’ll ruin this deal, so he sent someone to keep an eye on me.”

Lin Yi nodded, pretending to be enlightened.

“Do you know where they are now?”

“I’ve asked someone to keep an eye on them. They haven’t escaped my sight yet.”

“What are your plans? Will you stop this deal?”

“Of course.” Caie Mitsui said with certainty,

“Yushi Mitsui’s growth will weaken us. I will stop this deal.”

“Looks like you’ve made up your mind.”

Caie Mitsui nodded solemnly. “If it weren’t for our current situation, I might have already found someone to kill him.”

At this moment, Caie Mitsui showed her original side.

Lin Yi couldn’t tell which one was the real her.

“But Yushi Mitsui’s men have already found us. Your every move is under his surveillance. It won’t be easy for you to do anything.”

“I’ll just think of a way to shake them off. It’s not a big issue.”

“But if you do this, they’ll know immediately that they’ve been exposed. Then they’ll change their plans. It’ll be very difficult for you to find another opportunity to deal with this.”

Caie Mitsui’s slender fingers tapped the steering wheel.

She didn’t think of it just now, but now that Lin Yi said it, she realized that it was indeed a problem.

“So what do we do now? Do you have any good ideas?”

Instinctively, Caie Mitsui sought Lin Yi’s opinion.

“Simple.” Lin Yi said.

“What’s the best hotel in Toyo?”

“It’s the Empire.”

“Is it far from here?”

“Not really. It’s about 20 minutes by car.”

“That’s alright.” Lin Yi nodded.

“What’s in the trunk of your car?”

“Huh? The trunk?” Caie Mitsui was stunned. “Is that important?”

“Of course. Answer me first.”

“It’s all unimportant stuff. There are my clothes, gifts, mineral water, and snacks. In short, it’s a mess.”

“That’s great.”

Lin Yi went up to Caie Mitsui and wiped the lipstick on her lips with a piece of paper.

Then, he tugged at her skirt, revealing most of her shoulders.

Then, Lin Yi messed up her hair, making it appear untidy.

Caie Mitsui was stunned, not knowing what Lin Yi wanted to do.

“Get me a bottle of water in the trunk.”

“W-What are you doing?”

“Don’t ask questions. I’ll tell you when we get back.”

“Oh, okay. Do you need me to do anything else?”

“No, just bring back a bottle of mineral water.”

“I’ll do it now.”

Following Lin Yi’s instructions, Caie Mitsui got out of the car and went to the trunk to get a bottle of mineral water. Then, she returned to the car and handed the water to Lin Yi.

“Were you suggesting that 1 go check the license plate? I’ve already memorized the number.”

“Not exactly, I just want to make this act perfect, so that no one would spot any flaws.”

“Flaws?” Caie Mitsui was even more confused.

“Think about it. When the two of us came out after dinner, we’d been driving properly. But then we suddenly pulled over to the side of the road. For someone with criminal investigation experience, this is very suspicious behavior.”

“So you just told me to go down and get some water to cover up that detail?”

“Of course.”

“But it’s just a bottle of water. Would that work?”

“Then think about it. A man and a woman suddenly parked the car by the roadside for a long time. Then, the woman’s clothes appeared disheveled. She got out of the car and came back with a bottle of mineral water. What do you think happened when the two of them were in the car?”

Caie Mitsui immediately understood what he meant and lowered her head while blushing.

“Actually, there’s no need to disguise yourself like this. Although I don’t have any experience in this area, 1 can give it a try. That way, it might be more realistic.”

Lin Yi was speechless.

‘Could it be that I’m too naive?’

If he had known earlier, he would have been more bold!

“Uh… I underestimated you, but we have to get down to business now. Let’s go to the hotel first.”

“Okay.”

Caie Mitsui’s heart raced as she stepped hard on the accelerator.

The originally 20-minute journey was completed in 15 minutes.

“Mr. Lin, let’s go.”

“Hey, why do you seem to be more anxious than me?”
