897 The Trouble With Growing Up

“You, what are you going to do to me…”

“I forgot to tell you. I used to be a cardiologist at the hospital. I was proficient in dozens of surgical techniques. Even those Sunrise Landese ninjas couldn’t last more than ten minutes against me. How long do you think you can last?”

Looking at the shiny scalpel in Lin Yi’s hand, Owen’s breathing quickened.

This was the first time he felt fear while facing a person.

!!
“The missions we received were all commissioned by a middleman. We don’t know anything. Please don’t kill me. I don’t want to die.”

In terms of willpower, forget comparing them to Huaxian people.

Even when compared to Sunrise Landese, these Meiguons were far lacking.

Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been so easy to deal with those international students.

In the face of death, forget talking about benevolence and morality. As long as they were slightly intimidated, their willpower would collapse.

“Who’s the middleman?”

“I don’t know. We were only ever contacted by phone.”

Lin Yi leaned his head on one hand and looked at Owen.

The information he provided was useless. He still could not find out who the mastermind was.

Therefore, he had to continue digging for more information.

“If your mission is completed this time, how would you have handed me over to the middleman?”

“We don’t have handover procedures. Jones and I are worth a lot of money. The targets we carry out are usually on people of status. When these people run into trouble, there’s bound to be something about it on TV, just like for yourself.”

“However, there are also some special circumstances that will require us to kill some small fry. In such a situation, we will take photos and send them over. As long as we prove that the target is dead, it will be fine.”

Lin Yi’s brows were deeply furrowed. It was indeed a little difficult to find a time where face-to-face interaction was necessary throughout this process.

“Haven’t you ever seen the middleman?”

“We’ve met once because we’re all veterans.” Owen seemed to know what Lin Yi was going to ask.

“But he’s difficult to make an appointment with. I can’t guarantee that he will show up.”

“I don’t want to hear that. I want you to take care of this. Your survival depends on how well this goes.”

Owen shivered in fear. He understood that the man in front of him was scarier than the devil.

If he didn’t do as he said, he might end up in worse shape than Jones.

“I understand. Please give me some time.”

Lin Yi looked at his watch. “If there’s no result by tomorrow morning, the two of you can accompany each other on the road to hell.”

With that, Lin Yi walked out of the room.

He also arranged for the ship’s crew to guard the door of Owen’s room to prevent him from escaping.

Not long after he walked out, he saw Yan Ci standing on the deck, as if waiting for him to come out.

“Have you been here all this while?”

Yan Ci nodded. “I was afraid that something would go wrong, so I’ve been waiting for you here.”

“Why worry about me? What problems could possibly come up?”

“I’m not worried about anything else. I’m mainly concerned about your wound,” Yan Ci said.

“Come back with me first. The wound is covered in blood. If we don’t treat it now, it will get infected.”

“It would have been better if you hadn’t mentioned it. Now that you mention it, I feel like it really does hurt a little.”

“Then why don’t you take it seriously? Hurry up and come with me. If there are any side effects from the injury, you’ll be in trouble.”

“It’s just a little painful. There’s no need to make a fuss. Didn’t I tell you before? It won’t delay your exercise.”

“Alright, then you can be on top tonight. Especially since you keep saying the injury won’t affect you,” Yan Ci rolled her eyes and said.

“Um, I don’t think I said I’ll be exercising as well, right? Wait, were you having such thoughts? Are you unable to wait?” Lin Yi touched his chin and said.

“Speaking of which, it’s been almost twenty days since we landed on the island. You’re still at the age where you’re as voracious as a wolf. It’s normal for you to have such needs.”

“I might just strangle you.”

Yan Ci placed her hand on Lin Yi’s waist and pinched him mercilessly. “Come with me quickly. Someone might come here at any moment.”

“Sure thing.”

When they reached the room, Yan Ci took out the first aid kit and helped Lin Yi clean his wound.

Although she was an amateur, with Lin Yi’s guidance, she quickly finished cleaning the wound.

“Oh right, there’s something I forgot to tell you,” Lin Yi said.

“Tell the production team not to spread the news about the man in black. Don’t let that man in black appear in the show either.”

“I’ll let them know.”

Yan Ci didn’t know what had happened, but Lin Yi had already said this.

Thus, she would just do as he said.

After finishing his business, Lin Yi got up and went to the bathroom to wash up.

What followed was another passionate night.

Just like every other time, when Lin Yi woke up, Yan Ci was no longer by his side.

Lin Yi was a little impressed by Yan Ci.

Despite staying up late at night and claiming to be tired, she was able to wake up after sleeping for only two or three hours and be fully alert for work.

With her spirit, energy, and spirit, it was not enough to describe her as a wolf, tiger, or even a jaguar.

Thinking of this, Lin Yi suddenly realized a problem.

In another three to five years, the women around him would reach the 30th year of their life.

Lin Yi was not sure if he could handle all of them.

Sigh, this was the so-called trouble with growing up.

After this, Lin Yi got up, put on his clothes, and went to the bathroom to wash his face. Then, went to see Owen.

Pushing the door open, Lin Yi saw Owen sitting neatly on the sofa with his head half lowered. His expression was gloomy, and he seemingly didn’t have any energy left.

“Is it done?”

“We’re meeting in Zhonghai, Huaxia.”

“Zhonghai?”

This meeting place surprised Lin Yi.

It was a little abnormal that they arranged to meet right at his doorstep.

“I explained the situation here to him. I said that the assassination did not succeed and that I was going to continue when you returned to Zhonghai,” Owen said.

“Then I told him that your identity is very special and it’ll be very difficult to complete the job in Zhonghai. I asked him to help and come up with a plan. When the time comes, I would give him a portion of the commission. He agreed out of his love for money.”

“As a middleman, you should always remain mysterious. Your story seems too convenient.” Lin Yi said.

“I don’t think he’d be short of money.”

“Of course, you’re quite right,” Owen said with a shrug.

“It’s true, he doesn’t lack this bit of money. What he has his eyes on is your money, not the bounty. If you die, all your assets might become his.”

“To be honest, I would never even dream of such an amazing thing,” Lin Yi smiled.

“But that’s what he thinks. Plus, he’s nearby, so he agreed to come,” Owen said.

“I hope you don’t doubt what I’m saying. I know what you’re capable of. I wouldn’t joke around with my life like that. Besides, Zhonghai is your territory. No one can challenge you there.”

“It turns out you’re not that stupid.” Lin Yi smiled.

“When are you supposed to meet?”

“According to the program team’s rules, we can return to Zhonghai today. He’s buying a plane ticket and is rushing over. He’ll probably reach Zhonghai early this morning,” Owen said.

“I’ve done what I was asked to do. You can take care of the rest.”

Lin Yi stretched lazily. “Pack up and come back with me later. You have to do some acting with me tonight.”
