“Um…”

“What are you talking about? I really haven’t been there recently.”

“Didn’t you have something to tell me? Let’s talk while watching the show.”

“You’re taking advantage of my kindheartedness.”

“No matter how you look at it, you’re not a good person.” Liang Ruoxu took the car keys. “Let’s go. Get in the car. We’ll head to the auditorium.”

!!
“You’re driving on this closed road? You’re too arrogant,” Lin Yi complained.

“I’m not trying to put on airs,” Liang Ruoxu said. “It’s just part of the school rules. I’m not allowed to wander around outside without the escort of security personnel.”

“So that’s how it is.”

“If I hadn’t seen your car, I wouldn’t have parked here. Come on, get in.”

The two of them got into the car and drove to the auditorium.

At the entrance of the auditorium, the school’s higher-ups were all standing in line, waiting for Liang Ruoxu.

“Teacher Lin, you, why are you here?!”

Seeing Lin Yi get out of Liang Ruoxu’s car, Zhao Qi and Sugar were stunned.

Lin Yi was actually sitting in the same car as the deputy mayor. This scene was unbelievable.

At the same time, Liang Ruoxu was also confused.

“You’re a teacher at Normal University?”

“Uh…” Lin Yi paused, “I used to be, but I’m not anymore. I used to work for the school youth committee.”

Liang Ruoxu couldn’t understand Lin Yi anymore.

Other than being a tycoon and a doctor, he had actually been a teacher. Was he really trying to experience everything life had to offer?

However, this identity was rather acceptable in comparison.

After all, the members of the school youth committee did not have to possess any technical skills. As long as they had a decent level of education, they could get the job.

“Mayor Liang, let me introduce you. Not only is Teacher Lin a teacher of the school committee, but he’s also the vice-principal of our university.”

“He’s also the vice principal?!”

This time, Liang Ruoxu could no longer remain calm.

The vice principal was not someone ordinary people could become.

If he was really the vice principal, which female student of the university could escape his grasp?

“Have you forgotten who I am?” Lin Yi whispered, “I donated some equipment and became the principal here.”

Liang Ruoxu nodded, feeling that Lin Yi was even more unfathomable.

After a few simple pleasantries, Lin Yi and Liang Ruoxu were welcomed to the hall.

As soon as he entered, he heard deafening cheers.

“Teacher Lin, I love you!”

“Teacher Lin, I love you!”

“Teacher Lin, I love you!”

The people who shouted were all fourth-year students who were about to graduate. They all knew about Lin Yi’s glory in school.

“I just said that you’re a thief who never leaves empty-handed. It looks like that’s not enough to describe you,” Liang Ruoxu said. “You snatch anyone who walks by you. It seems like nobody can escape your grasp.”

“Bullsh*t,” Lin Yi whispered in Liang Ruoxu’s ear, “Look at those boys, they are staring at you too.”

“You and I are two different things.”

“How are they different? Aren’t they both just examples of appreciating beauty?”

“Even if they look at me, they can only admire me, but you’re different.” Liang Ruoxu said, “If these little girls admire you, you will probably find a place to admire them back in full.”

“Hmm… now that you mention it, I think we’re wasting our time.”

“How so?” Liang Ruoxu raised her head proudly.

“We shouldn’t let these immature students enjoy our beauty. Why don’t the two of us just admire each other?”

“Are you wearing a vest?”

“Hehehe… it’s a good day to die.”

“Hmph…”

Under Zhao Qi’s guidance, the two of them sat down. The welcoming ceremony soon kicked off.

However, before that, Principal Zhao Qi and Liang Ruoxu went on stage and said some platitudes before it officially began.

“Didn’t you have something to tell me? Tell me now,” said Liang Ruoxu.

“Don’t be anxious. We have to put on an act and watch the show first. Otherwise, others will think that we’re too arrogant.”

Liang Ruoxu raised her head and looked at the girls on stage. They were wearing shorts, revealing their long legs.

She really couldn’t do anything about him.

A few minutes later, Lin Yi looked away. “Alright, I’m done pretending. Let’s talk business.”

Liang Ruoxu raised his head again. The second program was a martial arts performance by a few boys.

“I think this martial arts performance is pretty good,” Liang Ruoxu said. “Especially the boy in the front row. He’s quite good-looking.”

Lin Yi turned around and said to Zhao Qi, “The boy in front, give him a big demerit after the party.”

Zhao Qi, “…”

Liang Ruoxu was speechless.

“That’s chauvinistic.”

Muttering to himself, Liang Ruoxu looked at Lin Yi and said,

“Alright, let’s get down to business.”

Lin Yi tilted his head toward Liang Ruoxu and whispered,

“Do you know anyone from Yangcheng?”

“What’s wrong? Do you want to help your orphanage with some policies?”

“That’s not it. I can take care of my mother myself.” Lin Yi said.

“Below Yangcheng is a poor town called Beiqiao Town. I want to build a Hope School there, the kind that covers nine years of compulsory education. However, the road to the town is exceptionally bad, so want to build a road for it while I’m at it. Can you contact the relevant people and allocate me some funds?”

“You’re building a school?”

Liang Ruoxu’s beautiful eyes widened. She didn’t expect Lin Yi to do this.

“Donating money all the time isn’t a catch-all solution, and it won’t solve the root issue either,” Lin Yi said, “Knowledge changes one’s fate. I have to help the children learn more so that their life won’t be so difficult when they join society.”

“Hu~”

Liang Ruoxu took a deep breath. Lin Yi’s personality had some sharp contrast, it was so contradictory that it made people feel like there were two extremes to him.

It was as if there were two different souls living in his body.

“I was parachuted into Zhonghai. I used to work in Yanjing. I’m not familiar with the people in Yangcheng,” Liang Ruoxu said.

“I’ll help you contact them first. This won’t be an issue. I’ll hear from them soon.”

“Thanks.”

Liang Ruoxu looked at Lin Yi, “Will you really continue doing philanthropy?”

Lin Yi pondered for a few seconds. “Let’s see how much money you have in your purse. I won’t continue acting tough if I don’t receive any funding.”

“You do realize that what you’re doing can’t change the overall situation, right? Besides, your career is still on the rise. Now is not the time for you to focus on charity.”

Liang Ruoxu completely disregarded her identity as she said this. Instead, she kindly reminded Lin Yi of this as a friend.

Lin Yi smiled at Liang Ruoxu. “Do you know when the best time to plant a tree is?”

Liang Ruoxu shook her head honestly.

“Ten years ago,” Lin Yi said, “Do you know when the next best time to plant a tree was?”

Liang Ruoxu shook her head.

“Now.”

“When it comes to certain things, it can never be the perfect time to do them. However, starting immediately can be the next best time. Therefore, it doesn’t matter the period, as long as you just start.”
