“Huh?”

Wang Zeyi’s expression was exaggerated. “Director Li, I’m not tired. I can work with you tonight.”

“It’s fine. It’s just a night shift. It’s not a big deal.” Li Chuhan said, “It will still be counted toward your attendance.”

“Director Li, this isn’t about attendance. I’m really not tired.” Wang Ze straightened his back and said.

“When you guys went out to play, I slept here for a long time just to prepare for the night shift. Forget the fact that you and I will both be working, even if I were alone, it would be fine. Director Li, don’t worry.”

!!
“Director Li, why don’t we do this? You’ve been out playing for so long, so you’re probably tired. Since Director Wang can handle it himself, you should go back and rest,” Qiao Xin said.

“This would work. The department hasn’t been busy for the past few days anyway. Director Wang even slept for the entire afternoon. It shouldn’t be a problem for him to deal with those patients.”

Li Chuhan frowned slightly. “Director Wang, can you handle it alone?”

“Well …”

Wang Zeyi wanted to die. You guys are f*cking playing with me!

“If nothing goes wrong, I can handle it alone, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. I feel like I’m not good enough alone yet.”

Obviously, Wang Zeyi didn’t want to give up so easily. He was still trying to find an excuse to make Li Chuhan stay.

“Besides, I’m new here and am not familiar with the patients’ conditions, so…”

“Then we’ll do it the original way. Go back and rest. Director Lin and I will be on duty tonight.”

“We have a night shift tonight. Let’s get into Director Lin’s car and go back to take over. Don’t make Sister Ma and the others wait,” Yuan Siqi said.

“Okay.”

The three nurses answered and skipped toward Lin Yi’s car.

“Director Lin, come to the car later. We have to change our clothes first.”

“Okay, go.”

Seeing that someone had taken the initiative to leave, Li Chuhan also called out, “Let’s go. The rest of you, follow me.”

“Okay.”

The other nurses on duty got into Li Chuhan’s car. Since they were all women, they didn’t have to change their clothes.

As for the rest, they drove their own cars and sent back those who didn’t have to work the night shift.

However, before leaving, Qiao Xin stood beside Lin Yi and whispered,

“Brother Lin, we’ve already taken care of Wang Zeyi for you. Whether you can take down Director Li depends on your ability.”

“Be gentler in the future. If this continues, one day, Wang Ze will kill himself.”

“It’s mainly because he doesn’t have any self-awareness. Doesn’t he know his own standards? He actually wants to snatch Director Li from you. Seriously.”

“Be gentler, then,” Lin Yi smiled, “What if he gets cerebral hemorrhage from anger?”

“Don’t worry, I’m an old fan of Conan. I can shirk the responsibility without leaving any traces. In short, your mission is to take down Director Li. We’ll help you settle the rest.”

“Alright!” Lin Yi said.

“I’ll buy some imported bananas for you tomorrow.”

“No, I like to eat locally-made ones because they’re sweet.”

“All right.”

A few minutes later, everyone left one after another, leaving Wang Zeyi standing rooted to the spot.

“Why… why am I the only one left?”

After driving back to the hospital, the nurses on night duty walked off together, leaving Lin Yi and Li Chuhan alone.

“Director Lin, don’t you think the weather tonight is a little cold?” The young nurse in the distance asked.

“Cold?” Lin Yi said, “I think you guys need something, right?”

“The night shift is tough. I wish I had a Starbucks.”

“Alright, just wait. I’ll order supper for you later.”

“Hehe, Director Lin, the road is slippery at night. Walk with Director Li. It won’t be good if she falls.”

“Go, go, go. Everyone is on duty,” Li Chuhan said embarrassedly and chased away all the nurses who were making fun of her.

“Let’s go back and see how the patients are doing.”

“Okay.” Lin Yi nodded.

The two of them returned to the department and did a handover with Zheng Binjiang. Then, they went to check on the patients. After confirming that the patients were fine, they returned to the department to rest.

In the meantime, Lin Yi ordered some coffee and desserts for supper.

“Boss, everything was going fine. Why did you ask me to come back?” Lin Yi said.

“I kind of hate Wang Zeyi, so I asked you to come back with me.”

“Then what about the night shift in the future?” Lin Yi said, “According to the schedule in our department, you seem to be working the night shift with Wang Zeyi.”

“We’ll see when the time comes.” Li Chuhan said, “Although I don’t like him, it’s not a big problem for me.”

“You’re already the department director. Just change the schedule. We can be on duty together in the future.”

“Can I?” Li Chuhan asked.

“Why not?”

“Okay, then I’ll change it. In the future, the two of us will be on night duty together.”

“It’s settled.”

Not long after, the coffee and dessert Lin Yi ordered arrived.

“Master Lin, we’re here to take our supper,” the nurses said.

“Wait, you can have supper, but do you know what to do tonight?”

“Uh… I do. We’ll be responsible for ward rounds. As long as the patient isn’t dying, we’ll postpone all the treatment until tomorrow morning. This is to ensure it won’t affect everyone’s rest.”

“As for those who don’t like to sleep and prefer to walk around the corridors at night, I will forcefully feed them a sleeping pill.”

“I have earplugs over here as well. I’ll give each of the night-shift nurses a pair. I promise to be as deaf as a deaf person tonight. No matter how loud you and Director Li are, we won’t be able to hear you.”

“Not bad, not bad. No wonder you could join Huashan Hospital as nurses. Looks like you’re all outstanding people!” Lin Yi said.

“Of course. Although our business acumen is not good, our ability to read people’s expressions is not bad.”

“Come, come, come and get your supper and coffee.”

After receiving their goods, the young nurses did not stay in the department for long and left one after another.

“What did you just say?” Li Chuhan said, “That we have to be careful at night. We can’t… What is this?”

Li Chuhan stopped mid-sentence because she saw that the food Lin Yi gave her was different from the food he had given the others.

“Don’t you like osmanthus cake? I ordered it for you.”

“Thank you.”

Li Chuhan took it in embarrassment, and her heartbeat inexplicably quickened.

“We’re all on the same side. There’s no need to stand on ceremony.”

Holding the osmanthus cake Lin Yi bought for her, Li Chuhan was at a loss.

“You, if you’re tired, go to bed. I can watch over this alone.”

“What time is it already?” Lin Yi waved his hand. “You stay here, I’ll go to the nurses’ station to play games with them.”

“Lin Yi…”

Just as Lin Yi was about to push open the door and leave, Li Chuhan called out to him from behind.

“What’s wrong? Is there anything else?”

“During the dive, you… you didn’t see anything, did you?”
