The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 490 - 268: Gary’s Whereabouts
Chapter 490: Chapter 268: Gary’s WhereaboutsIn the corridor by the elevator, Wolf put forth his own request.

”We can talk about cooperation, but the president must be present.”

If the president is temporarily unavailable, it’s not a problem; they could freely wander around the company to understand the whole group.

From Wolf’s, or rather Jason Diggs’s, standpoint, such a request was not at all unreasonable. If Sages Group was sincerely interested in cooperation, they definitely wouldn’t miss an opportunity to build good relations.

Moreover, wandering within Sages Group not only allowed for a better understanding of the internal situation, facilitating the search for Gary and Hughes, but also bought some time.

But wasn’t Wolf afraid that such roaming inside the Sages Group would force Gary to abandon making his move today?

Their disguises could fool strangers, but fooling Gary...

It was nearly impossible.

The two-person combination of similar height and build, with similar facial features, it would be strange if Gary didn’t catch on.

It’s not some inexplicable TV drama where you become unrecognizable just by wearing glasses.

So what was the reason?

After last night’s conversation with Gary, Jiang Shu knew very well that Gary wouldn’t evade or abandon his mission today, but Wolf didn’t know that, did he? Was he really not afraid of startling the snake?

It seemed unlikely that Wolf hadn’t considered this, so the real reason seemed to be self-evident.

Did Wolf also hope Gary would be committed to the Cyber Mental Institution?

Jiang Shu looked toward Wolf, whose face was calm, smooth as an ancient well that bore no ripple.

Or was it that Wolf was actually using the tactic of startling the snake to flush out the serpent?

Here were two entirely different emotional inclinations. Based on Jiang Shu’s understanding of Wolf over this period...

Both were possible.

If Wolf also wanted to let Gary escape, then this mission just got a bit comical.

A two-person mission, two moles. Wasn’t this a division, a betrayal of the police station?

For some reason, Jiang Shu’s mind concocted a modified version of a classic line.

Now, given his identity, he couldn’t obstruct Wolf, so he immediately followed up with, ”That’s right, a good understanding is the beginning of friendly cooperation. Sages Group’s renowned reputation in the security sector has always been of interest to us, and we are also very interested in your company’s internal management.”

After finishing, Jiang Shu added, ”We’ve heard that your company’s wolf-like corporate culture is very beneficial for the company’s development, and we would like to learn and adopt it as well.”

In saying so, it essentially showed their apparent approval of this so-called ”wolf-like culture,” and this approval might bridge the distance between the president and them.

”Mr. Diggs, Mr. Tang, I need to ask the president about your request, please wait a moment,” Ms. Han said, not daring to make a decision lightly or, perhaps, even someone as capable as her in the company was not authorized to decide without consulting the higher-ups.

”We can wait,” Jiang Shu replied with a smile, but the smile was very official and cold, as if ready to terminate the cooperation at any sign of disagreement.

Ms. Han, in turn, gave an apologetic look and nodded to the two men, then walked to the side and pressed the Bluetooth headset on her ear, started conversing with someone on the other end of the phone.

Jiang Shu and Wolf watched Ms. Han, who was more than ten meters away, and exchanged glances with each other.

In just a few seconds, they had reached a consensus.

The primary objective was to find Gary, which was definitely correct.

As for the method, it naturally involved pinpointing both the president and Hughes and thoroughly checking the internal situation of Sages Group.

By the way, the Tablet Spirits could also lend a hand.

Jiang Shu glanced at the little Tablet Spirit Ding floating above Ms. Han’s head; it was in an invisibility state, but Jiang Shu could see it as he was the user of the Optical Invisibility Technique.

Ding also waved at Jiang Shu and then made a gesture of pricking up its ears to eavesdrop right above Ms. Han’s head.

They had already slipped out of Thirteen District Police Station, and simply locking them up and turning them off wouldn’t trap these four Tablet Spirits.

Their presence in Sages Group could definitely be considered a trump card.

He just hoped it wouldn’t be the ”odd” kind of trump.

Moments later, Ms. Han finished her communication successfully. She walked over on her ten-centimeter high heels, smiling and saying, ”The president has expressed his apologies for not being able to greet you personally. In half an hour, after he has completed all his current tasks, he will be available to discuss cooperation with the Iris Family. In the meantime, I will guide you on a tour inside the Seges Building, please understand.”

”Agreed,” Jiang Shu answered for Wolf, then he asked Ms. Han, ”So, which area shall we start with?”

The Seges Building had a large footprint and a total of thirty floors, the interior space was intimidatingly vast.

By paying a certain amount of rent, one could rent an employee dormitory. Due to the setting up of these dorms, the residential area has almost everything an employee could need for daily life. Employees, if they wish, can stay within the Seges Building indefinitely without ever leaving.

Perhaps it was also for this reason that Sages Group could more easily control its employees.

”We’d like to start at the work zones, beginning from...” Wolf took over, thought for a moment, and then replied, ”Let’s start with the planning department.”

The planning department, which was Hughes’s department.
