The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 459 - 256: Daily Teaching of Magic Construction
Chapter 459: Chapter 256: Daily Teaching of Magic ConstructionThe seminar concluded, the main direction was set, and a preliminary plan was established; Jiang Shu breathed a sigh of relief.

His plan was finally on the right track.

However, when he thought about the various challenges hidden in these issues, his heart couldn’t help but tighten again.

He had to take it slowly, after all, this was about a peaceful revolution.

It was not like Black Kler, who finished an entire war in just a few months.

However, anyone who had lived through innumerable similar lives would become radicalized, or perhaps indifferent.

Black Kler had seen too much life and death, and for him, with his endless reincarnations, it was not a matter of life and death, just a pile-upon-pile of repeated data.

Today was still for relaxation; he could start handling serious matters tomorrow.

Jiang Shu thought so, gradually closing his eyes on the sofa.

”Su Xiaoou has sent you a video call request.”

Lying on the sofa, Jiang Shu looked at the message on his wristwatch and pressed the ”answer” button.

Su Xiaoou’s 3D projection appeared on the simulated light screen, standing in the center of the holographic projection hole, looking around Jiang Shu, seemingly curious about his surroundings.

”What? What are you looking at?” Jiang Shu saw her curious expression, reminiscent of Mistress Liu visiting the Grand View Gardens, and couldn’t help but find it funny.

”Nothing, I’ve just never seen a villa in District A1 before.” Su Xiaoou shifted her gaze, waving her fist, ”Someday I too will live in a house like this.”

Then she added, ”With my own abilities.”

”Sure,” Jiang Shu nodded, ”You sought me out for the monthly assessment, right? Let me see your abilities then.”

”Yes, I just went to the Black Currant Theater’s Magic House, but the Teacher wasn’t there.” Su Xiaoou continued, ”So I thought of performing magic through video call.”

That was the sole content of Jiang Shu’s monthly assessment, performing a magic act in front of him, with no limits on theme or length, focusing mainly on the quality of the magic effect.

But Su Xiaoou calling him now was something he had completely not anticipated.

Normally, magic is very unsuitable for performance over video calls, due to various reasons; magic performed in this mode often teems with potential trickery.

For instance, simplistic card magic like guessing cards, whether shuffling is allowed, whether viewers can shuffle, whether viewers can choose cards at will — all these are the sources of the magical effect. However, in a video call, such effects are drastically diminished.

Simply put, even though Jiang Shu could roughly guess the principle of Su Xiaoou’s magic from behind the screen, it was not suitable for scoring her monthly assessment.

Unless it was an entirely automated magic performance.

What is entirely automated magic?

After the magic starts, the magician nearly doesn’t need to manipulate much, and the magical effect naturally occurs.

For example, the magic Jiang Shu had used before, the ”telephone card guessing,” was a typical fully automated procedure.

The viewer on the other end of the phone followed his steps step-by-step, and ultimately, based on the secrets inadvertently revealed by the viewer, he guessed the selected card correctly.

The principle of this kind of magic lies in the mystery of the procedure itself.

Another demonstration’s Baglas Prediction also counted as entirely automated magic, where he, as the magician, could hardly ”interfere” in the performance.

But the principle of that magic lay in the secret of the prop.

As for another category worth mentioning separately, some number magics also qualify as fully automated processes, the core principle being the complication of a simple principle through elaborate procedures.

For instance, in the most common number magic, the viewer picks a number at random, and after a series of additions, subtractions, multiplications, and divisions, the magician states the predicted result.

Such a principle is incredibly simple; in modern terms, anyone with a quick mind could readily grasp the underlying reason within a short time, but Jiang Shu would not overlook such magic,

The reason being simple: magic itself is the art of packaging; a simple principle, once embellished, can become an awe-inspiring superpower.

For example, incorporating elements of playing cards, combining some shuffling, cutting, and card-choosing arts, the entire magic act can soon appear quite impressive.

There are no utterly useless magical principles, just magicians who can’t package them well.

Now, if Su Xiaoou wanted to perform magic across the screen, the best choice would indeed be such completely automated processes, as these would most easily generate sufficient magical effect through the screen.

However, whether the process is fully automated or the prop is fully automated, creating something original is not simple.

With Su Xiaoou’s current abilities...

Having studied for about half a year, creating an original fully automated process could be possible?

”Teacher, when shall we start?” Meanwhile, Su Xiaoou showed a puzzled expression on the holographic projector, somewhat perplexed by Jiang Shu’s distraction.

Jiang Shu also nodded, replying, ”We can start, begin your performance.”

Unknown to him, four Tablet Spirits had already neatly seated themselves beside him, resembling the audition setting of some variety shows.

”Hmm?” Jiang Shu glanced at Xiao Yi, whose expression on the screen also swiftly showed an understanding, then it ”swished” and turned off the screen.

”Well, I’m starting,” Su Xiaoou took a deep breath, preparing to perform her research achievements from the past month in front of Jiang Shu.
