The Daily Life Of A Cyberpunk Magician

Chapter 482 - 265: Hughes’s Story
Chapter 482: Chapter 265: Hughes’s StoryThe dusky setting, glittering disco balls, swaying red wine glasses, lively background music, piles of bottles on the coffee table, and the sprawling white flesh on the sofas—everything in the room seemed so dreamy.

Of course, such dreams were only for the upper echelons of the company in the room.

For him, this room was a disaster.

He sat at the edge of the table in his chair, with utmost deference but extremely uncomfortable.

Only occasionally did he dare to glance at the corpulent middle-aged man seated in the place of honor.

This was the company’s weekly party, where a department was randomly selected to attend, and this time, it was their Strategy Department’s turn.

”Long live the President!” The Strategy Department employees, led by their department head, bellowed out with all their might, raising their hands high and chanting the company’s slogan, ”For our bright future, for the company’s continual rise—”

”Go go go! Strive strive strive! Work work work!”

Such shouting almost seemed to flip the roof.

”Very good, seeing you younger ones so full of energy really comforts me as your President.” The middle-aged man retracted the hand that had been clinging to a lady next to him, then stood up and showed a satisfied, friendly smile to the Strategy Department employees below, ”Today is the company gathering, everyone relax a bit, just play, let loose and enjoy.”

At these words, the Strategy Department employees seated around the table finally managed to show smiles that did not come from the heart, eating and drinking, playing and enjoying themselves with some restraint.

The atmosphere in the room eased slightly, but still felt heavy.

Everyone was well aware that the President on stage was unpredictable, and these weekly gatherings were nothing short of a nightmarish experience.

Officially, they were called ice-breaking meets, but in reality, it was just the President entertaining himself at the expense of the employees.

”It seems like everyone is still a bit uptight. Actually, I am a very reasonable person,” the President said with a contemplative look on his face. Suddenly, as if struck by an idea, he casually pointed at someone, ”You, stand up and tell me, how much did you pay for the clothes you’re wearing today?”

The person he pointed at immediately stood up, glanced down at his suit, and quickly reported, ”Reporting to the President, in total it’s three thousand three hundred and fifty Feather Coins!”

”Good, very good.” The President seemed pleased with his brisk style and then his expression changed, roaring angrily, ”Who allowed you to wear such clothes to a company gathering?! Doesn’t everyone wear casual clothes?! Take it off! Burn it!”

Upon hearing this, the employee in the suit immediately stripped off all of his clothes, then threw them into an empty bucket, poured some pure alcohol in, and finally tossed in a lit lighter.

The flames erupted with a ”whoosh”.

Standing by the table with a serious expression, he seemed to be waiting for the President’s next instruction.

It was the body of a man gradually entering middle age, years of indulgent living had covered the employee in layers of fat, which hung down in folds, making him look ungainly.

In the private karaoke room, in front of twenty or thirty colleagues with whom he spent day and night, this veteran employee seemed to have no sense of shame at all, stripping down to just his shorts and letting everyone see his ugly body.

”Clap clap clap—” At that moment, however, the President clapped his hands in satisfaction, bursting into laughter, ”Hahaha, well done, you’ve carried out the superior’s orders to the letter.”

He then took out a box from under the coffee table and entered the digits ”33500” on its display screen. The box then started spewing out money with a ”clatter,” and before long it had spit out a large amount of cash.

”Take it, this is your reward, thirty-three hundred and fifty Feather Coins,” said the President with a smile, ”In this company, we need obedient employees like you. There are two kinds of enterprises in the world, one is wolf-like, and the other is sheep-like, but only the wolf-like enterprises can survive! Only by following the lead wolf can one survive, can create more value for the company, can create more value for oneself.”

After this speech, the Strategy Department head promptly led the applause, and in a moment, the cracking applause filled the private room.

Subsequently, the President nodded in satisfaction and beckoned to the Strategy Department head, ”Let’s play a fellowship game, come here, Department Head.”

His face once again broke into a smile, yet this time it wasn’t a friendly one, but it carried a hint of mockery.

”Yes, Mr. President,” the Department Head immediately got up and jogged over to the President, then bowed deeply and asked respectfully, ”What game does the President wish to play?”

”Just rock-paper-scissors,” the President said offhandedly, ”The usual, we bet a slap.”

”Yes, Mr. President,” the Department Head, with a sycophantic smile, bowed once more to the President.

”Let’s start.” The President’s somewhat chubby hand waved three times in the air and then suddenly spread open.

He displayed a ”paper,” while the Department Head chose ”rock.”

Therefore, the Department Head laughed and presented his face.

”Slap—”, without a moment’s hesitation, the President slapped him soundly and then, chuckling, said, ”When we play, we play for real. Don’t be mad if it’s a bit hard.”
