Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

295: He is Bai XiaobaiThe next day.

At 1:55 PM, there were only five minutes left until the start of the presentation by Xu Bai, who was also Bai Xiaobai.

Xu Bai sat backstage, looking at the manuscript in his hands for a final check. Although he was very nervous inside, he had seen his fair share of the world, so he maintained a calm appearance on the surface.

This academic conference could not be compared to the conferences he had attended before. Previously, it would at most be making a fool of himself, and most people would choose to just laugh it off.

Here, if what you said was not recognized by others, they would stand up directly to raise questions, and you would have to answer their challenges.

...

The five minutes passed quickly. Xu Bai came out from backstage and stood on the podium.

Xu Bai looked at the seats below and found that they were almost full, with people still trickling in to find seats.

Xu Bai took a deep breath, tried not to focus his gaze on them, and then began to speak.

”Everyone, let me introduce myself. I am Bai Xiaobai. It is an honor to be here today to share my recent research results with you all.”

Xu Bai knew that everyone had come today not to listen to him brag about how awesome he was, but to learn knowledge, so his self-introduction was very short.

However, regardless of whether it was short or not, the name Bai Xiaobai alone was enough to perk up the crowd in the audience.

Bai Xiaobai was very famous now. They had all purchased many cards produced by Thunderbolt Company, and they also wanted to research cards that could use electricity, hoping to get a slice of the future pie.

Although there had been many speculations about Bai Xiaobai, they did not expect him to be so young. They had previously learned about Bai Xiaobai through his papers and newspaper content, but these only wrote about the cards and card-making ideas that Bai Xiaobai had researched; they did not describe what he looked like or how old he was.

Therefore, many people had always thought that Bai Xiaobai was a white-haired old man with an eccentric and rigorous personality, and that the reason he had these research results was because he had spent a lot of time studying cards.

They didn’t expect Bai Xiaobai to be such a young man, looking only in his twenties. Being so young, how much time could he have spent on research?

Perhaps it was possible that someone else was impersonating him?

A portion of the audience listened carefully to Xu Bai’s speech with this suspicion, wanting to find any flaws in it.

...

”Recently, my research team and I created a drone card. This drone is a machine capable of flying in the air.”

”Next, I will explain the technical difficulties of drone flight and the solutions to them.”

...

The people sitting in the audience went from initial suspicion about the identity of the person on stage to later astonishment at the content of his speech, fully demonstrating their longing for drones.

”So it really can fly.”

Jian Liru muttered to herself.

Jian Liru’s friend beside her suggested.

”Liru, look, humans really can have a place in the sky, but since he has already achieved flight, you should give up on your research.”

”Give up? No, I won’t give up.”

Her friend turned her head and looked at Jian Liru in confusion.

”Why? Even if you research something that has already been achieved, it won’t have any meaning. Also, by the time you manage to research it, he might have already upgraded to a new generation—”

It was as if stars had been scattered in Jian Liru’s eyes, shining with light, causing her friend to stop her lecturing words.

”When I said I wouldn’t give up, it didn’t mean I wanted to continue my previous research. I just don’t want to give up on continuing to research in the direction of flight. If possible, I want to join the Bai Xiaobai Research Institute and want to research the follow-up of drones.”

Seeing her friend climb out of one pit only to want to jump into another, her friend scratched her head and spoke the truth.

”Do you think that with your ability, Card Maker Bai Xiaobai would want you to join?”

’Pfft~’, Jian Liru was like a punctured balloon, instantly deflating.

Fine, although she had a bit of confidence, she wasn’t that confident, and she really wasn’t sure if he would want her. Thinking about how he ran away yesterday, she feared he might be trying to avoid her.

However, she did not give up immediately. Although her ability was insufficient for now, she could still continue to work hard, striving to become a member of the Bai Xiaobai Research Institute.

Xu Bai on stage did not know that, unknowingly, someone had made becoming a member of his Research Institute their goal.

...

Of course, there were others in the audience whose hearts were also very unsettled.

That was Wang Shanshan, who had given Xu Bai her business card yesterday.

The fact that Xu Bai was Bai Xiaobai surprised her greatly. You know, Xu Bai used to be her classmate, and she hadn’t felt at all that he was good at making cards.

Originally, she thought that him creating glass cards was already quite remarkable, but she didn’t expect him to be even more remarkable.

Right, it was fortunate she had kept his mailing address yesterday; she could send him a letter later.

”He is Bai Xiaobai.”

”What’s wrong?”

The elder beside her noticed the fluctuation in her assistant’s emotions and asked.

Wang Shanshan then realized that she had accidentally spoken her inner thoughts out loud.

”It’s just that I find it incredible that it can fly.”

Wang Shanshan restrained the expression on her face and answered cautiously.

She did not want to reveal the fact that she knew Bai Xiaobai to the cult elder.

If the other party knew about this, they might use her to get close to Bai Xiaobai.

The elder did not think much of it upon hearing this reply.

”Indeed, his ideas are truly astonishing.”

...

Xu Bai on stage did not know about the exchanges in the audience. He had reached the last page; his speech was about to end soon, and it would be time for the Q&A session.

He actually spoke quite fast, so he was not sure if the people in the audience had heard clearly what he was talking about.

The speech ended, and Xu Bai put down the manuscript in his hand and looked at the crowd below, waiting for their questions.

At this moment, a lady wearing glasses and a cheongsam raised her hand.

Xu Bai looked over and signaled that she could ask her question, and she stood up.

”I have a question. Although the content of your speech seems very reasonable, the most important thing about card making is the need to actually create it, otherwise it can only be a castle in the air. May I ask if you have brought the drone card, or if you can create one on the spot?”

Hearing this question, Xu Bai smiled. He had indeed brought the drone card, so this problem was easy to solve.

Xu Bai took the card out of his pocket and inserted it into the card reader. Soon, the drone appeared.

When the drone appeared, many people in the audience stood up, wanting to see the drone clearly.
