Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 948: Chapter 942 The Benefits of Milk_1

After Qin Xue finished feeding the two children, Chu Molin had prepared all the ingredients in the kitchen.

“Chu Molin, what did Xiao Qi say?” asked Qin Xue as she saw Chu Molin come in.

“No problem, I’ve kneaded the dough; make something you’d like to eat later. We can also make some to eat on the train,” Chu Molin said.

“Great. I saw some milk for sale this morning and bought some. I’ll boil the milk and pack it for the children to drink on the train. I can also use some to make milk-flavored mantou for the kids to eat.” Qin Xue had planned to return home that day, so when she saw milk for sale, she thought of this problem. There was still time to prepare, as their train was in the evening.

“Alright, go ahead and do that. Let Fang Xiu watch the children, and I’ll go buy the tickets.” Chu Molin thought he should buy the tickets now so they wouldn’t have to wait. Since it was the homecoming season and many people were traveling, he was afraid there would be no tickets left. Buying tickets should be easy with his and Qin Xue’s military officer certificates.

“Sure, go ahead. I’ll handle things at home, so you don’t have to worry.” Qin Xue also thought of this issue. As military officers get priority, buying a few tickets should not be a problem.

Hearing this, Chu Molin took the certificate and money and went to the station. After calling Fang Xiu to watch the kids, Qin Xue started to get busy. Interestingly, Fang Xiu suggested that Xue Ling watch the kids, so she could help with the cooking to speed things up. Qin Xue agreed, originally thinking that Fang Xiu should rest due to her large belly. Yet if she wanted to help, she could. After all, Fang Xiu was busy almost up to the time she gave birth, so as long as she didn’t feel uncomfortable, it was fine for her to do some work.

It must be said that two people were indeed faster than one. Qin Xue looked at the freshly steamed mantou, white and exquisite, and it was pleasing to the eye. She set aside a few to cool for the four children to eat later. Qin Xue always treated Xue Ling as a child when there wasn’t much to do, so now she was raising four children.

“Qin Xue, I never thought that making mantou with milk this way would not have any strange taste, and even smells good,” said Fang Xiu, who was surprised. She knew about milk before, but no matter how it was prepared, it had a peculiar taste, and they would not drink or eat it unless they had nothing else.

“Milk is very nutritious, and drinking it has many benefits. Whenever there is someone selling milk, buy more to bring back. Whether boiled to drink or used as a cooking ingredient, it is good. I plan to let the kids drink milk after weaning.” Qin Xue explained all the benefits of drinking milk to Fang Xiu. Even being pregnant, she could drink more milk. However, in this era when people could hardly make ends meet, who would care about these details?

Upon hearing Qin Xue’s words, Fang Xiu was moved. If it was something good for her child, she was willing to try. Buying milk seemed like a small thing.

“Okay, I’ll remember that. The next time someone sells milk, I’ll have him sell all the milk to us, so he doesn’t have to go around selling anymore,” said Fang Xiu, laughing.

Since milk had so many benefits, of course, they had to buy it. There was nothing wrong with a little hardship for the sake of the children. Fang Xiu was a very qualified mother. Her only shortcoming was her lack of decisiveness. She almost lost the child in her belly, and Qin Xue didn’t really know whether to praise her or criticize her. But now that things were as they were, there was no point in saying more. It was decided then. When they got to the mountain, they’d find a road. They would take one step at a time.
