Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space

Chapter 931: Chapter 925 Dining and Drinking_1

“Dinner’s ready. Let’s eat.” With Chu Xiaoqiao’s announcement, everyone paused their activities to wash their hands and eat.

Wind, Cloud, Thunder and Rain were all seated together. Seeing the crowd, Qin Xue poured out a large vat of peach blossom wine and placed it on the table. In the spirit of celebration, she encouraged everyone to have a drink, even though she couldn’t partake due to her cold. But that didn’t mean others couldn’t enjoy the wine.

“Help yourselves to some good wine if you want.” Qin Xue’s raspy voice made her discomfort evident.

“You should drink some water first to soothe your throat, let everyone else handle the rest.” Chu Molin found it hard to see his wife in such discomfort. He couldn’t bear her sickness for her, so he poured her a cup of water.

“Thank you,” Qin Xue said graciously as she accepted the water, her throat was sore and dry.

“Please, everyone, enjoy your meal. It’s not often that we all gather like this, so let’s not stand on ceremony,” Chu Molin said. Li Zhao had said he would come too, but after waiting a while without seeing him, they didn’t know what he was up to. So, they decided to start the meal without waiting for him further.

...
Li Zhao was indeed caught in some troubles. He sincerely couldn’t make it, and there was nothing he could do about it.

Despite his absence, the gathering wasn’t dull with the arrival of Nangong Beiying and others. It had become quite lively as most of them were good drinkers, leaving only Qin Xue quietly eating her rice and dishes.

“Xuexue, you have many fine things here,” Nangong Beiying commented, glancing at the expensive wine and medicinal dishes that others wouldn’t recognize, but as a doctor, she did.

“The gifts that Chu Molin receives from people he helps are mine now as his wife. And since we have two pregnant women here, it’s a good contribution. enjoy,” Qin Xue replied half-seriously.

“Are you sure this won’t be too nourishing?” Nangong Beiying looked at the ingredients in the soup.

“You’ll know whether to believe me or not once you’ve finished eating and examined them,” Qin Xue said. She didn’t understand why Fang Xiu and An Hao both showed signs of an unstable pregnancy. In some of the dishes, Chu Xiaoqiao added extra medicinal herbs, which should prevent any problems.

“Okay, then I’ll check what’s wrong with that woman later,” Nangong Beiying pointed at Fang Xiu as she spoke.

“She’s the wife of the man I told you about the other day. Her son and her husband look alike, see if there’s anyone in your family who resembles them,” Qin Xue directed Nangong Beiying’s attention towards Jingtao.

“Hmm, they do look alike. Could it be there are some lost brothers out there?” Nangong Beiying felt that the resemblance was striking, but she hadn’t noticed before as she busy watching Qin Xue’s children and Jingtao had followed Fang Xiu to the kitchen.

“Who does he resemble?” Qin Xue asked, sensing an opportunity to learn some news.

“It’s my grandfather, Mr. Nangong,” Nangong Beiying replied in a whisper.

“Did you ask him? Has he said whether he recognizes my mother?” Qin Xue hurriedly asked.

“He didn’t say anything, but I could see he was feeling down when I asked him, and then he stared at a photo. I could not see who was in the photo though.

I should tell him when I have the time that Nangong Shulan is alive, to see how he reacts,” Nangong Beiying added. When she mentioned the name the other day, she was asked to leave Mr. Nangong’s room before she could comment further.
