Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 870: Hazardous Elements

Carmen distanced herself a little bit away from the platform, her eyes staring deeply at the side wall.

Now that she knew there was grease on the wall, she needed to gain a certain momentum to maintain her running on the lower level of the wall.

Running in the lower level increased the chance of dropping down, so she needed to ensure her momentum was kept high to prevent gravity from dragging them down.

Once she prepared herself, Carmen subsequently raised her right hand. When there was no response, she quietly counted down from 3.

Of course, behind her, Xu Feng didnʼt bother counting anymore. He would simply react based on Carmenʼs timing.

He was at least capable of this much to match someone elseʼs timing. After all, there were many dungeons in the past timeline that required heavy teamwork to succeed.

Just at this moment, Carmen kicked the ground and dashed forward.

Almost immediately, Xu Feng did the same.

Soon, the two began running along the side wall at a very low level.

The two of them didnʼt bother to get distracted and paid close attention ahead.

ʼHmph, they really did grease the lower part as well.ʼ Carmen snorted silently when she narrowed her eyes to check ahead.

”Keep in the same altitude as me,” She exclaimed loudly.

Xu Feng didnʼt respond and only kept her instructions in mind.

A few seconds later, they successfully crossed over their first failure and continued up ahead.

As the side wall nearly reached its end, Carmen shouted, ”Iʼm going to jump now.”

The side wall still had a bit of distance in between the other two platforms, forcing them to jump ahead to reach the other side.

Thus, it became obvious that Xu Feng would be facing the tough part of timing his jumping right.

Luckily, no mishaps happened and the two managed to land safely on the other platform.

”The mini-game is really a nightmare.” Carmen clicked her tongue.

”Do you need to take a break?” Xu Feng calmly inquired.

He was indeed alarmed by the difficulty, but knowing that it was the Divine Worldʼs judgment to ensure fairness, he didnʼt find it much surprising anymore.

Given that the secret dungeon definitely concealed some fantastic rewards, one must naturally be prepared to work hard for it.

As if they could simply have the pie dropped from the sky into their hand.

That might have worked for protagonists with the golden spoon and heavy plot armor in movies or dramas, but it was definitely not them.

”No need,” Carmen shook her head and continued to walk forward. ”I was just venting my frustration aloud rather than keeping it to myself.”

Nodding, Xu Feng didnʼt disagree with the method. It was best to vent it all out and then move on.

As they advanced further, Xu Feng and Carmen were met with the next obstacle.

Their faces frowned and they nearly wanted to curse the System aloud.

”What does the system take us for? Some kind of treasure hunter who could do all sorts of maneuvers?” Carmen grumbled coldly.

Not to mention Carmen, even Xu Feng wanted to grumble but refused to do so. After all, there was no point in complaining.

The obstacle they faced was equivalent to ceiling crawling. It was a section that required them to grab onto the rusty overhead bars and swing across the gaps while avoiding hazardous elements.

And the hazard in this part was acid and falling spikes that drop occasionally.

In one instance, two of them dropped simultaneously.

It would have been fine if they were to drop in separate places, but these two dropped toward the same spot, ensuring that they would be screwed if they were present at that time.

”Guild Leader, they donʼt even have a fixed pattern.” Carmen twitched her mouth.

Quite a few minutes had gone by, and the two remained still because they wanted to check the pattern to know when they should begin.

Unfortunately, there were no fixed patterns and the hazardous elements simply dropped down randomly.

Without a doubt, these hazardous elements were programmed with RNG (Random Number Generator). In other words, aside from speed, their luck was also heavily required to pass through this obstacle.

Maybe the only saving grace was that this obstacle allowed the two to advance together and not have one be behind.

Timer: 38:34:15

As Carmen glanced at the timer, she frowned. ʼSo much time wasted, and weʼre still stuck here.ʼ

Having experienced this, her desire in the dungeon had sharply decreased. In fact, she was starting to regret wanting to join Xu Feng in the trial.

Who knows if that trial was also messed up like this one?

”Alright, letʼs just speedrun and stop thinking anymore, shall we?” After staying silent for so long, Xu Feng suddenly suggested that they give up thinking.

At their current rate, they were destined to fail. It became clear to him that the System was orchestrating behind the scenes to ensure they couldnʼt afford to pause at each obstacle and ponder how to resolve it.

With an RNG factor involved, they could only rely on luck and their determination.

”I suppose thatʼs one of the methods,” Carmen responded.

”Iʼll go across first.” Xu Feng suddenly suggested.

”Eh?” Startled, Carmen raised an eyebrow. ”We could advance together though.”

”Yes, we could, but we could also choose not to. The hazardous elements got me thinking. If two of us are in the same bar and it hits, then weʼre game over. But if only one of us was there, then either you or I would let go of our hand and swing to the other person.”

Realization quickly dawned upon Carmen.

Indeed, that was an effective way to counter the despicable RNG factor.

How come she never thought about that?

It was at this moment that Carmen suddenly trembled slightly.

ʼThis System is really good at manipulating us.ʼ She cursed silently.

Because she finally thought they could work together for once at the same time, the thought of continuing their split action wasnʼt calculated into the factor.
