Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 861: Mana Resonance Talisman

As much as Carmen wanted to refrain from fighting the Cragback Mauler, the fact remained that behind him was an extended path.

It goes without saying that the Cragback Mauler was placed here as an obstacle to prevent them from advancing further with ease. Based on that analysis, the chances of them being in the correct pathing were high.

However, Xu Feng wasnʼt going to be deceived easily. If it was that simple to navigate and advance forward, then there wouldnʼt have been so many conditions set.

Although he was highly certain that the path being blocked ahead wasnʼt the correct one, there could be a chance that they would be stumbling across an item or reward that could guide them.

Meanwhile, when Carmen noticed the inaction of Xu Feng, she raised the question. ”Do we fight or take a detour?”

In such a scenario, her reliance was usually on Xu Feng. So whatever his choice was, she would agree to it.

And being in this situation caused her to reminisce about the time when they explored together at the Brightstone Ravine where they encountered a Skyrazor Harbinger.

ʼThe time passed by really quick.ʼ She thought to herself. Despite being way higher level than Xu Feng, she still relied on him a lot.

While she was in a daze, Xu Feng retrieved an item that he had kept hidden for a long time.

”What is that?” She snapped out of her daze upon sensing the item.

”This is the Mana Resonance Talisman.” Xu Feng explained calmly.

The Mana Resonance Talisman was capable of detecting mana activity within a 100-meter radius and providing a general direction toward significant mana sources. It was considered the inferior version of the Aether Compass.

”Where did you get that?” Carmen questioned in disbelief. She had never seen an item like that to be on sale anywhere in the NPC stores.

”Long story short, this was the reward I received from Yaren after completing a mission.”

”Yaren?” It took Carmen a few seconds to ponder who Yaren was. ”The Yaren from Paradise Plain?”

”Mhmm, itʼs precisely her. I havenʼt met her for a while, but I reckon if she was still overseeing some contest, the contestant would be suffering under her hands.”

Yaren was the esteemed blacksmith who held a lot of authority within Paradise Plains.

By now, many players had already been informed of such a city.

Unfortunately, they might know about it, but entry to it was strictly regulated.

If anything, Paradise Plains was considered a special list in the Teleport Platform, and many players sought information on how to gain entry slots for it.

Naturally, Xu Feng could easily take people with him to the city, but why should he?

Unless they were a member of his guild who signed an exclusive contract, he would refuse to let anyone else such a golden city for an increase in their Profession.

And speaking of that, Xu Feng was still a bit annoyed that Serena outright refused his recruitment despite bringing up the allure of Paradise Plains.

ʼTsk, Iʼll get her one day.ʼ He clicked his tongue and was determined to bag this Expert Chef.

”Guild Leader, please come back to reality and stop showing your shrewd nature face.” Carmen suddenly cleared her throat and said.

”What shrewd nature faces?” Xu Feng raised an eyebrow. He had nearly perfected his stoic-like face, so there was no way she could see him making such a face.

Nodding, Carmen agreed that his face didnʼt depict such a shrewd-like expression.

”I canʼt see it, but I can sense it.” She clarified.

”Oh really?”

”Yes, and now Iʼm sensing you are becoming petty and wondering if you should punish me.”

”...”

”But when you recall my usefulness, you could only suppress it and allow me to behave as such.” She pressed on.

At this moment, Xu Feng realized how much of a trouble he brought to himself by imparting knowledge of human nature to Carmen.

Just like the typical novel stated, a master rarely teaches their disciple because the first thing the disciple does upon learning it, was using them against their master.

Now, Xu Feng was finally understanding why those masters were so reluctant to take disciples in and teach them. He was now getting a taste of his own medicine constantly.

Sometime later, it was detected that there was a strong mana presence ahead.

”Looks like we have to deal with the Cragback Mauler.” Carmen smiled lightly. She had somewhat expected that they had to go through the monster to advance forward. This was their first monster encounter, and it made sense that they needed to go through some hurdles to complete the dungeon.

A secret dungeon without any danger and merely a maze was ridiculous to begin with.

Nodding in agreement, Xu Feng suggested that he make the first move.

”Let me handle it first. You should save your firepower as much as possible.”

”Are you sure you can handle it alone?”

”...”

Having heard the skeptical and doubtful tone from her, Xu Feng titled his neck left and right.

”Step back.” He calmly said, seemingly warning her of the potential danger from his unleashed power.

Seeing that, Carmen gave him the benefit of the doubt and stepped back a bit.

Naturally, that was just a facade she put on. She had absolute confidence in his ability. It was just that she found a pity that she had to take a backseat due to the limited mana.

ʼSigh, I should really upgrade some of my equipment thatʼs more utility bound.ʼ She thought to herself. It was at this moment that she came to realize that simply increasing her firepower wasnʼt enough. She needed to worry more about the other utility aspect such as recovery in mana and other stuff.

Outside of the dungeon, she never worried about them because she had an unlimited supply of potions.

However, now that she was in the dungeon with restricted rules.

She realized her short-sightedness. Xu Fengʼs suggestion to take the lead stemmed from the fact that he had better recovery items equipped as opposed to her.
