Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 864: White Portal

Flint was registered as his pet and recognized by the System.

Therefore, even if it were to encounter danger and happen to die, then Xu Feng could still revive it.

The only loss would be the money required to revive a fallen pet.

Nevertheless, Xu Feng wasnʼt going to cheap out and refused to revive it just because the cost was too high.

Of course, those were only for the ”if” possibility, and not reality. As if Xu Feng would willingly allow Flint to die without exerting all his cards first.

”Flintʼs flight might be restricted at a certain altitude, but at the very least, itʼs immune to the status ailment.” Xu Feng commented.

The status ailment only affected players and not pets. As for why Flint couldnʼt fly above a certain altitude, that was only because the restriction applied to all.

After all, what kind of maze wouldnʼt be solvable if one could just fly up and check where they are?

”Hmm, if you could have summoned Flint from the start, then why didnʼt you summon it to fight against the Cragback Mauler earlier?” Carmen suddenly raised the question.

”Uhh…” Startled, Xu Feng hadnʼt anticipated such a question.

He couldnʼt possibly say that he had forgotten about Flint until now because he never owned a pet before, right?

No, saying that would only cause her to remember this incident and use it to tease him!

In the end, he cleared his throat and explained, ”One should never use all their available cards from the beginning. If I had used Flint to fight the Crabacck Mauler, then would it be possible for it to scout ahead for us now?”

Feeling that wasnʼt convincing enough, he continued, ”Also, my mana was used up, but I can still slowly recover it now that the danger has subsided. In the meantime, Flint could still explore ahead for us and ensure that we can be prepared for anything unexpected.”

Upon hearing that, Carmenʼs eyes widened. Although she felt it wasnʼt quite right, the explanation made complete sense to her.

Meanwhile, Xu Feng breathed a sigh of relief when he realized she didnʼt question him further.

ʼPhew, I escaped the crisis.ʼ He thought to himself.

Nothing was more embarrassing than to admit that he committed an amateur mistake at his level and experience.

Sometime later, Flint made sure to cover itself with its own protective shield before advancing further.

Following closely behind Flint were Xu Feng and Carmen, who remained vigilant the entire time. They couldnʼt afford to lower their guard which could cause their reaction time to be slow.

As they advanced further, the cracks on the path became more evident. It was to the point where they were forced to either walk on the foremost left side or the foremost right side.

These werenʼt the worst part, but when it was in the center side, they needed to be even extra careful. One wrong move and they would fall on either side, straight to the bottomless abyss.

Xu Feng wanted to have Flint see what was beneath it but refrained from doing so.

Who knows if there was a sudden flight restriction? If so, then wouldnʼt he have just ordered Flint to suicide?

There were no scrap items on his inventory either to throw away. The same goes for Carmen. Though she insisted on having some of the precious material to do the testing, Xu Feng ultimately rejected the notion.

The Mana Resonance Talisman on his hand didnʼt signal anything on the path below, so Xu Feng found it hard to just sacrifice a material that would cost at least 10 silver coins in the market.

Money was money. The moment one decided to spend them recklessly just because they have a ton were bound to regret their action.

”This is getting tiring.” Carmen smiled bitterly and glanced at her stamina bar. At the same time, she checked the timer on the sky which showed they had less than 39 hours.

Timer: 38:47:54

They had spent a long time on this unending path, and she was beginning to feel like it was a trap meant to distract them.

”Weʼve already come this far, so giving up and returning wouldnʼt be worth it.” Xu Feng calmly said. She wasnʼt the only one feeling weird about the situation, but even he was starting to feel drained.

Thankfully, it appeared that they hadnʼt reached the end of their luck. Flint finally halted its flight and turned to Xu Feng, seemingly communicating that it had stumbled across something.

Almost immediately, Xu Feng and Carmen hastened their speed slightly and turned the corner.

Soon, they noticed a white portal in front of them. As for behind the portal, it was another dead end.

”Eh?” Confused, Carmen seriously wondered if this was some kind of joke. ”We came all the way here for a white portal? Is it a teleportation connector to some other path here?”

”Maybe or maybe not.” Xu Feng was at a loss here either. Nevertheless, the Mana Resonance Talisman was giving a strong reaction at this moment.

After saying that, Xu Feng stepped forward and extended his hand to touch the white portal.

”Guild Leader!” Alarmed, Carmen tried to stop him, but it was too late.

However, in the next instance, she was dumbfounded when nothing happened to Xu Feng.

”Eh, you didnʼt get sucked away or blasted to pieces?” She asked aloud in disbelief.

”...”

What was she thinking?

He retracted his hand and explained, ”Apparently the white portal isnʼt activatable unless weʼre both touching it.”

There was a system prompt that appeared, stating that all players were required to touch the white portal to trigger it.

In other words, if they had brought more players over to the dungeon, then the difficulty might have been raised.

”Screw it then,” Carmen rolled her eyes, grabbed his hand, and reached for the white portal.

She had enough of all this mystery and gloomy environment. At this moment, she couldnʼt care less if they were to fail the dungeon or not.

She was done!
