The Evolution of the Weakest Ghoul

Chapter 115: Chapter 115: A Promise

Ronan followed the old man to the back of the shop, which was the kitchen. With each step, his heartbeat accelerated.

By the time they were in the kitchen, Ronan couldn’t help but ask.

”Old man Jolan... what do you need?” Ronan asked as the old man calmly checked the soup he was cooking, not worried like Ronan was, as he said,

”What I need?” The old man began, a smile on his face.

”Yes, old man. If before I feared you were a hidden expert or something, now I do know you are, and probably much stronger than i thought. In fact, if you wanted to stop yesterday’s ritual, it would only take a small effort from you, yet you didn’t and even supported us just now.”

”So, old man, you are doing this for something. Is there anything I can give?” Ronan got straight to the point as he asked.

Hearing this, the old man looked at Ronan. He could see the fear emanating from Ronan, mixed with his confusion.

”You see, no one reaches the top without climbing over a mountain of corpses.”

”Plus, you are an undead. I do need a favor from you not now but in the future. When it is needed, I will let you know,” Jolan spoke as Ronan frowned, his heartbeat slowing down a bit.

That was it. At least Jolan needed something. If he told Ronan he didn’t want something, then Ronan wouldn’t be able to be this calm or even dare to leave this city. After all, he might have been killed the instant he did, but this...

”What if the future what you need is my own death?” Ronan couldn’t help but blurt out as Jolan laughed.

”Kid, you have wild thoughts. Don’t worry, it won’t be. More of something within your capability by then,” Old man Jolan spoke as he observed Ronan in thought.

Finally, Ronan nodded.

”Alright, old man. Whatever you ask for in the future, as long as it isn’t me killing myself or suicide, I will do it,” Ronan promised.

”Good. Now go enjoy the food before it gets cold . It can even help you with getting your new strenght under control,” Jolan spoke as Ronan’s eyes widened.

”Ah... Old man, thank you,” Ronan spoke as he left the kitchen hurriedly, his mind at ease.

Thinking of this, maybe because this old man was a hidden expert or just the way he viewed the world was different, but he just seemed like a neighborhood elderly man filled with wisdom.

His words about every expert climbing a mountain of corpses...

Ronan couldn’t help but click his tongue.

Tch. This old man didn’t mention if the corpses were human or another race.

”Hey... wait.”

Ronan arrived as he sat while Yen and Hesa exchanged glances.

They had been worried when Ronan left, but now it seemed they had nothing to worry about.

”You’re back,” Yen said with a smile as Ronan nodded.

”Yeah, give me some.” Looking at the food, which was almost half gone, Ronan spoke as he joined them.

Soon, everyone was chatting at the table as laughter rang out while Ronan tried to eat as much as he could.

This was the only food he could eat without vomiting. Meanwhile, Jolan couldn’t help but frown.

He could see something that didn’t go well. Very soon, the Abyss will rise once more, the gods will fall, and this undead here might be the only one who could help them.

Now, with a favor gotten from this kid, in the future, when he grows, it might at least save humanity from extinction.

A few minutes later,

Jolan came out with the soup as everyone whose belly was filled suddenly became hungry. They gulped, even the Mayor looked at the soup with a hungry expression.

It was always a good thing to eat the food of this man. No matter what your realm was, as long as you ate, you would gain something.

Just eating the dishes the old man prepared earlier made him feel his realm was close to having a breakthrough.

If only he could eat the old man’s food every day, then he might break through in a week.

”Eat up. This should help with your soul,” Jolan said as the Mayor’s eyes widened. Maybe for Ronan and the two women, they couldn’t understand how important this was, but for him, at the King Realm, how couldn’t he?

To get stronger, not only would your body grow stronger, but also your soul.

The amount of power one wields at the King Realm is enough to change the environment within thousands of kilometers, heck, even tens of thousands of kilometers, and that huge power can’t be just controlled by a weak soul. So, the ultimatum of those in the King Realm was increasing their soul power.

For each star, one’s soul power has a difference that determines the fight, and that is one of the reasons a high-level King expert could easily kill a middle-level King expert.

That was the massive gap between them, even if they were a star apart.

So, the Mayor hurriedly started eating. Meanwhile, Ronan also poured the soup for himself as Yen and Hesa did so.

Of course, the Mayor didn’t forget his daughter. Apart from the food of the man his daughter ate every day, she was also very talented as he trained her too. Her physical strength was something even he, a King Realm expert, envied.

By the time his daughter grows up, she would be a monster among monsters. He felt lucky and happy that she caught the eye of this old man. After all, he came from ” that ”place.

A place where Supreme Realm experts were nothing but commoners and Saints were just servants.

”Joy, eat. Eve, you too.” Hurriedly swallowing, Ronan smiled as he said to the two women who looked at the oily mouth of Ronan.

Their faces twitched. After you almost ate everything, you suddenly remember them?

Looking at the soup in front of her, Hesa took a deep breath as she ate, memories of her killing those humans replayed in her mind.

No, I didn’t do this... at least, I was not myself. It was Ronan that...

Yet the more she tried to deny it the more she felt guilty.

*******

Note:

if I were to say low king realm or middle etc I meant this.

1 star to 3 is low

4 to 6 is middle

7 to 8 is high

Peak is nine
