The Evolution of the Weakest Ghoul

Chapter 109: Chapter 109: A Bloody Effort 1

”A vampire in the city?” At this moment, an old man looked at the guard in front of him, his eyes narrowing.

”When and where did you find this body?” the old man asked.

”Sir Fredrick, at the south side near the gate,” the guard replied.

Standing before him was one of the elders of the Terent Family, the strongest family, second only to the Duke Family.

”Too close. Seems they just entered. Could it be a mole told them about the Mayor leaving, or has this vampire been present in the city and only came out now?” Fredrick muttered.

”Okay, increase the patrol and focus more on the gate. Send news of the vampire sighting around. If anyone finds any clues, they should send them to us,” Fredrick spoke as the guards bowed.

”Yes, sir,” he replied before leaving.

In his room, Fredrick frowned deeply. He couldn’t help but feel a hunch that things weren’t as simple as they seemed.

”I will need to talk to the other elders,” Fredrick spoke as he left the room.

Outside...

Ronan returned home. The two women were still in their rooms as he went to sleep.

For the next few days, Ronan kept going out at night as he got more and more people transformed into vampires, one after the other.

First, it was the member of the noble family, but one thing about nobles was that they had their own circle.

Once you caught the first one and he got a taste of power, it couldn’t be stopped as he told more, and soon, the small group of Blood Servants grew into a faint prototype of a cult.

Ronan could see the vision of what his vampire abilities could do.

One thing was, not all vampires could create Blood Servants, and as for the Blood Servants, they were weaker than the pure vampires, with few exceptions like Hesa and Yen.

Ronan got to know the city layout as soon as he got control over the gate, then finally, the most important part...

[Five pure adult women, twenty-four babies, their blood will be mixed together, and then drops will be spread around the city.]

An important requirement.

Ronan prepared to leave the house when Yen came to him.

”Master, I will help. Give me your instructions,” Yen said, which surprised Ronan.

He thought the women might not be able to help in his plans, so he had been running everything by them, but having a few capable people would help him greatly.

”Alright. We are actually near the climax. Tonight is officially the night the ritual will start,” Ronan began.

Thinking of what he needed, he knew what to give Yen.

”I need pure young adults, preferably those that are within 18 to 20. Remember, Yen, they have to be pure,” Ronan spoke as he could see the change in Yen.

Yen was already prepared to help Ronan, but when she actually heard what he needed, she felt uncomfortable. But she still gritted her teeth.

”Yes, Master. Where should I bring them?” Yen spoke as Ronan smiled.

It wasn’t easy for her, yet she decided to still go with it.

”At the abandoned house at the north. There, a noble will ask you for the password. It is ’Slithering Crimson Eyes,’” Ronan spoke.

”Yes, I am on it,” Yen spoke as she sank into the ground.

Ronan looked at the requirement again.

He had to do the difficult part: get twenty-four babies.

Tonight was meant to be one that would shake the Harnet Kingdom and the Empire behind it.

The vampires made a move as their signal was given, and the gate was permanently closed. As the nobles leaked the Fake whereabouts of the vampire, the Sovereign Realm elders made a move.

Meanwhile, Ronan entered a house calmly. He went to the crib.

A baby could be seen sleeping soundly, the mother beside him finally resting after trying to make the baby stop crying.

The father was sleeping on the ground, exhaustion evident in his snores.

”What a lovely family,” Ronan smiled. Then he grabbed the baby and walked to the woman.

He grabbed her neck and then...

Crack!

But immediately, that sound echoed, the man groggily awoke.

”Wait... what happened?” he muttered, almost going back to sleep. He was tired. Having a baby was one thing; taking care of it was one of the hardest jobs in the world, but...

Wait... what?

He could see a handsome young man holding his baby, and his hand was around his wife.

”You...”

”What are you doing?” The man’s body went into constant fight or flight as his adrenaline rush washed away the tiredness, and he attacked Ronan.

Ronan was shocked by this. It seemed human instinct became more enhanced when they became parents. Normally, the man shouldn’t have been awakened by that sound, but his body did awaken.

But..

Crack!

The skull exploded like a watermelon as Ronan shook the brain matter mixed with blood off his hands.

One could say he killed the parents so they wouldn’t realize the babies were gone, but the main reason Ronan did this was once they knew, they would sound the alarm, which wouldn’t be good for him. At this stage, nothing must go wrong.

Looking at the crib, it seemed big enough, so he placed the kid inside and then carried the crib as he left and went into another house, using his ears to pick up the fast heartbeat.

As it turns out, babies’ hearts beat much faster than adults, averaging at 100 to 160 beats per minute compared to human adults at 60 to 100 beats.

So Ronan made sure no matter how ”many” the family of the babies were, he killed them one after the other and carried their babies.

At the end, he got twenty-four babies but murdered more than fifty people.

He returned to their base.

”Slithering Crimson Eyes,” Ronan muttered, and before the noble on watch could react, something passed him. But that presence...

”The leader is back.” He couldn’t help but say with excitement.

The truth was, the leader had promised that after tonight, they would change and gain even more power. Their vampire selves would be reborn, and having tasted the power that being Blood Servants brought, they couldn’t stop themselves.

Just as he was filled with excitement, he could see a female arriving, carrying five tied-up ladies.

”You...” His body trembled. He could feel the similarities between him and the woman, but her aura... she was at the Sovereign Realm.

Was this person under their Master?

”Slithering Crimson Eyes,” Yen spoke as she passed by the stunned noble, entering the base. She could hear twenty-four fast heartbeats.

”Master... you are taking babies...?” Yen thought, her heart unable to stay calm.
