God's Imitator

Cao Haichuan considered for a moment, ”If that’s the case, when we discussed the ’Blind Date Game’ before, Li Renshu guessed correctly.

”If the Gallery believes the God’s Imitator’s advantage in the game is too great and affects the game’s balance, it will personally add rules to make adjustments.”

Li Renshu asked somewhat curiously, ”You said the Gallery actually gave two sets of modification suggestions? What was the content of the other set?”

Wei Yinzhang thought for a moment, ”The other set of suggestions had three modification opinions, basically all aimed at increasing the game’s mortality rate.

”But my purpose in designing this game wasn’t to kill people, and after these rules were added, they would also greatly increase my own death risk, so I didn’t adopt them.

”As for these two rules, I could completely accept them.

”Although the ’identify the God’s Imitator’ rule also seemed to increase my risk, I believed I would only be exposed after distributing the Contract Vouchers. At that time, I wouldn’t have much visa time left, and most players would have already received benefits, so the vote couldn’t possibly reach 70%. I would still generally be safe.

”The first suggestion was also very clever, making me really want to adopt it.

”Because after seeing this rule, I realized my original design had flaws.

”Previously, I hadn’t explicitly written ’oxygen consumption is linked to amount of thinking,’ but only wrote that players’ oxygen masks would display the current remaining oxygen and the number of times oxygen was replenished.”I originally thought that whether players thought or not, there would be a big difference in oxygen consumption.

”But seeing this suggestion, I suddenly realized this might be problematic.”

Zheng Jie nodded, ”Right, from current medical research, the difference in oxygen consumption between spacing out and intense thinking isn’t very large. I remember it seems to be around 5% to 10%.

”The difference isn’t obvious because the brain’s oxygen consumption actually only accounts for about one-fifth of the body’s total oxygen consumption.

”Besides that, tension and anxiety would actually increase oxygen consumption more significantly, which could cause ‘Fool Players’ who don’t think to consume more oxygen than ‘Sage Players’.

”In that case, there would be no way to distinguish them at all.

”But you could also not adopt the Gallery’s suggestion and just directly change your own design proposal, right?”

Wei Yinzhang shook her head, ”No, I couldn’t change it anymore.

”After I submitted my proposal for review, the Gallery gave modification suggestions. But I could only choose to adopt or not adopt them. I couldn’t withdraw an already submitted proposal, modify it, and then submit it for review again.”

Li Renshu said thoughtfully, ”So, whenever we see this kind of later additions, deletions, and modifications, we can confirm it’s the Gallery’s doing.”

Wang Yongxin still found it incredible, ”But if that’s the case, the Gallery is way too intelligent. Not only does it give such clear and specific suggestions, but it can also precisely pick out the flaws in the original proposal?

”It’s practically sentient, isn’t it?”

Cao Haichuan didn’t find it strange, ”Actually, in the ’Blind Date Game,’ the suggestion the Gallery gave was also very intelligent.

”And there’s one point worth noting. In the ’Blind Date Game’ and ’Fool’s Game,’ the degree of compulsion in the Gallery’s suggestions was different.

”In the ’Blind Date Game,’ it was directly stated that the God’s Imitator must enter the game, no negotiation.

”But in ’Fool’s Game,’ it seems they could also choose not to enter.

”Because the rules only stated that when the God’s Imitator enters the game, the ’identify the God’s Imitator’ rule would appear. In other words, there might be situations where the God’s Imitator doesn’t enter.”

Li Renshu said thoughtfully, ”Hmm... that is to say, depending on the game’s balance, the Gallery’s suggestions will also be adjusted?

”If it’s a game with particularly poor balance, the Gallery’s suggestions will be more mandatory.

”If the game’s balance is acceptable, the Gallery’s suggestions are relatively lenient.”

Wang Yongxin sighed, ”Indeed doesn’t seem like something humans could do.”

Wei Yinzhang spread her hands and said matter-of-factly, ”That’s very normal, isn’t it? The Gallery is inherently a supernatural existence. Its wisdom is higher than humans’. Is that something difficult to accept?

”Moreover, the Gallery itself has subjectivity. Although situations where it dialogues with God’s Imitators or players are rare, they still exist.

”’Figuring out the Gallery’s intent’ is itself one of the essential skills for surviving in the New World.”

...

Having said this, everyone finally had a general understanding of the mechanisms related to God’s Imitators.

Many previous speculations had also been verified.

This was indeed quite an important matter for Community 17.

Xu Tong raised her hand and said, ”I suddenly have an idea.

”In that case, does this mean we can also run a rigged game? Just like Community 1?

”From the current situation, it takes Sister Wei quite a long time to design a good game, and she also has to happen to encounter a suitable invitation.

”But Sister Wei can also choose to directly tell us what the specific design invitation is, then we can brainstorm to complete the proposal, and Sister Wei can submit it.

”This way, the possibility of being selected would greatly increase, right?”

Zheng Jie hesitated somewhat, ”Can we really do this?”

Xu Tong said matter-of-factly, ”Of course we can. Why not? The rules don’t explicitly prohibit it, and moreover, hasn’t Community 1 already done this kind of thing?

”If it weren’t for Lawyer Lin taking action, they would have succeeded.

”The Gallery did forcibly insert rules into the game, but it only amounted to adjusting the game’s balance.

”This shows that on this matter, the Gallery isn’t completely unwilling to negotiate.

”Otherwise, there should be even stricter measures like ’God’s Imitators who leak their identity suffer instant death punishment’ or ’players who know the game rules in advance also suffer instant death punishment.’”

Quite a few people nodded. What she said did make sense.

Li Renshu looked at Wei Yinzhang, then at Lin Sizhi, ”Yinzhang, and Lawyer Lin, what do you two think?”

Lin Sizhi had clearly already considered the answer to this question, ”This depends on how you want to use the God’s Imitator.

”If you want to use the God’s Imitator as a disposable consumable, you can certainly do this, just like Community 1.

”But if you want to use the God’s Imitator as a stable channel for obtaining information, then I think it’s best not to do that.

”Not only is running a rigged game absolutely not allowed, but having everyone help design together is also absolutely not allowed, because this is essentially no different from running a rigged game.

”They both fall under ’blurring the identities of God’s Imitator and players’ and ’seriously affecting game fairness.’”

Xu Tong was somewhat puzzled, ”Lawyer Lin, are you saying that as long as such behavior occurs, the God’s Imitator will definitely die?

”But surely not? If it weren’t for you, Zhong Yuanyuan from Community 1 should have already succeeded.”

Lin Sizhi asked in return, ”Without me, there would have been Lu Xinyi. Without Lu Xinyi, there would have been other players.

”Even if Zhong Yuanyuan succeeded that time with the ’Blind Date Game,’ what about next time? And the time after that?

”Don’t forget, which players specifically get matched into the game is ultimately decided by the Gallery.

”Do you think, when the Gallery wants to punish you, is it wiser to admit fault and accept punishment, or is it wiser to go against the Gallery and even slap it in the face?”
