God's Imitator

Lin Sizhi explained, ”Both of us probably deliberately obtained Fool identities.

”I did it to test the specific oxygen consumption, so I only used the simplest game strategy without any on-the-spot adaptations. Moreover, to learn in advance what strategy the God’s Imitator had prepared for Fools, I smashed the box early.

”As for Lu Xinyi, I think she probably did it to ensure she could be grouped more easily with players from the same community.

”Because she knew that other players from Community 3 would most likely obtain Fool identities.

”At the time, everyone wasn’t clear about what the specific game format would be in the second phase, nor were they sure whether obtaining a Sage identity would result in being separated from other ‘Fool Players’.

”So she would probably be more inclined to play according to the thinking of players from the same community, ensuring she wouldn’t be separated in the second phase of the game.

”Of course, from what happened afterward, even if she had obtained a Sage identity, it wouldn’t have had too much impact.”

Wei Yinzhang asked, ”What I want to know is, how did you think to test oxygen consumption right from the start?”

Clearly, this question troubled her greatly because it was a design flaw.

Wei Yinzhang had originally thought that even if her oxygen consumption was a bit lower, it wouldn’t confirm anything.Throughout the entire game she hadn’t been high-profile, and at most could only be considered the second or even third figure in the Sage team. With the premise that identifying the God’s Imitator required spending 30,000 minutes of visa time, most players would at most only identify the leaders of the three small groups and wouldn’t suspect her.

But she hadn’t expected there would be a player like Lin Sizhi, who essentially used the ’oxygen consumption’ information as definitive proof.

But the prerequisite for doing this was that he had to completely stop thinking after entering the game, only then could he measure what the minimum oxygen consumption specifically was.

If Lin Sizhi had thought even a bit more himself, he wouldn’t have been able to use his own oxygen consumption to judge the information that ’Sheep’s oxygen consumption is too low.’

If it had been a player with greater malicious intent, Wei Yinzhang very likely would have died, which also made her feel somewhat frightened in retrospect.

Lin Sizhi explained, ”Because your ’oxygen consumption’ rule can actually be used to deduce the specific intent in reverse.

”Ordinary players might think that ’using chips to replenish oxygen’ is meant to increase the thinking cost for players, increase difficulty, and at the same time give the God’s Imitator additional income.

”But I felt that replenishing oxygen in this game wasn’t expensive, only requiring 2,000 each time.

”This amount of chips is far from enough to force players to change their thinking habits.

”If replenishing oxygen once cost ten thousand chips, then explanations like ’increasing players’ thinking cost,’ ’increasing difficulty,’ ’forcing players to reduce thinking,’ and ’God’s Imitator earning additional income’ would all be valid.

”But one thousand chips is too little, so the main purpose probably couldn’t be these.

”Then there’s the special design of the oxygen mask, putting the oxygen consumption directly on a side display screen for everyone to see.

”This indicates that ’oxygen consumption’ isn’t data for oneself to see, but mainly data for others to see.

”So it’s a screening rule, screening specific players through ’amount of thinking’ and ’oxygen consumption.’

”There would definitely be players in the game who showed ’maximum oxygen consumption,’ like ’Rabbit.’ After she entered the game, she was constantly thinking non-stop, so you could identify her just by finding the player with the highest oxygen consumption in the venue.

”But there wouldn’t necessarily be a ’minimum oxygen consumption’ in the game, because no matter how simple-minded a Fool is, they would still do some thinking.

”This ’minimum oxygen consumption’ could only be tested by oneself.

”I believed that testing this data was far more important than earning more chips in the first phase. After all, I could pay out of my own pocket at any time to exchange chips to pay off debts and leave.”

Wei Yinzhang sighed with some emotion, ”I never thought it could be played this way myself. If I had thought of it in advance, I definitely would have forced myself to think during the first phase to raise my oxygen consumption.”

Cao Haichuan thought of a new question, ”Wait, I suddenly realized something. Why did you write the rule ’consumption records can be queried’?

”From the results, this rule is completely negative for you, isn’t it?

”Without this rule, people would only have noticed you after the second phase. Your oxygen consumption would increase in the second phase, so it wouldn’t look so obvious.

”Although Lawyer Lin might still suspect, he wouldn’t have obtained proof as reliable as the consumption records.”

Wei Yinzhang sighed, ”Of course it’s because I needed this data myself.

”As you said, after the second phase, players’ oxygen consumption would become chaotic, so you couldn’t use current oxygen consumption to guess players’ behavioral habits.

”In my plan, I needed to cooperate with the leaders of the Sage team and Fool team depending on the situation, so I had to review these people’s oxygen consumption in the first phase, and then combine it with the screening mechanism for Sages and Fools to judge their level of intelligence and moral concepts.

”So I had to add this rule.

”I originally thought the vast majority of players wouldn’t guess the specific use of this rule. Even if a few people guessed it, they wouldn’t necessarily be able to trace it to me.

”Even if they traced it to me, they wouldn’t be able to confirm I was the God’s Imitator based on oxygen consumption alone.

”How was I supposed to know there would really be someone who could measure something like ’minimum oxygen consumption.’”

Wang Yongxin thought for a moment, ”Actually, strictly speaking, if it were just this one rule, there wouldn’t be too much of a problem.

”What’s fatal is that you also added the ’identify the God’s Imitator’ rule to the game.

”Without this rule, even if others discovered you were the God’s Imitator, they’d have no way to kill you.”

Wei Yinzhang nodded, ”Yes. But the ’identify the God’s Imitator’ rule wasn’t something I wanted to add myself.”

Everyone was somewhat surprised but thinking about it again, Wei Yinzhang indeed had no reason to add this rule.

On the surface, this rule appeared to be added by the God’s Imitator to earn extra visa time.

Because there were many players in this game, and they all wore masks. As long as the God’s Imitator hid well, they wouldn’t be found.

And each incorrect identification by other players would send 30,000 minutes of visa time, which really wasn’t a small amount.

From the perspective of ’making money,’ it was reasonable but the problem was that Wei Yinzhang never intended to make money from entering this game. She had already prepared to lose so much, so why would she add such a rule?

Cai Zhiyuan pointed at the rules on the big screen, ”Indeed, these few are rules that were added later.

”Same situation as in the ’Blind Date Game.’

”We’ve been considering this question all along, and now we can finally figure it out, where exactly did these rules come from?”

Everyone looked at the big screen one after another. Sure enough, at the end of the rules there were two supplementary rules.

[1. The oxygen mask will automatically detect brain activity. The more frequent and deep the thinking, the faster the oxygen consumption rate.]

[2. When the God’s Imitator of this game enters the game, the ’identify the God’s Imitator’ rule is added.]

In the second rule, there were detailed provisions for the ’identify the God’s Imitator’ rule.

Li Renshu asked curiously, ”Where did these suggestions come from?”

Wei Yinzhang answered truthfully, ”They were suggestions from the Gallery. I had to adopt them, otherwise I couldn’t ensure that ’Fool’s Game’ would be 100% selected.

”Actually, the Gallery gave two completely different suggestions, and this suggestion was one of them.

”I had to adopt one, otherwise the Gallery would continue pushing new suggestions until I accepted.”
