God's Imitator

Even Li Renshu was slightly surprised. Obviously, before saying these words, Cai Zhiyuan hadn’t communicated with her privately in advance.

Cai Zhiyuan explained, ”First, I believe that on this kind of issue, group discussion may not necessarily produce the most correct result.

”From the two recruitments so far, recruiting Dr. Zheng was a good result, but recruiting Luo Wei was a thorough mistake.

”This mistake doesn’t just refer to Luo Wei’s betrayal.

”Everyone should remember that in the last game, we encountered three reproduction-related questions.

”Let’s hypothesize. If Luo Wei hadn’t betrayed us but chose to stay, then in the last game, might there have been a possibility of getting all the questions wrong?

”Because apart from Aunt Zhou, no one in our community could answer these three questions.

”This is enough to prove the importance of ’maintaining community diversity’ that Renshu has always emphasized, and the unreliability of having all community members vote on selecting people.

”It was precisely Renshu’s proposal at that time to recruit an older member with a common profession that was the correct choice.

”If we had recruited an older farmer, worker, or teacher at that time, she most likely could have answered these questions just as easily as Aunt Zhou.”Everyone fell into brief silence.

If things were as Cai Zhiyuan said, and Luo Wei hadn’t betrayed them, then ’Childbirth Judgment’ indeed might very likely have had an even more disastrous outcome.

These three questions in ’Childbirth Judgment’ did seem quite lenient, with two opportunities to ask the audience, and even if the audience answered incorrectly, they could eliminate wrong answers but the first two questions only seemed like gimmes because of Zhou Guifen’s existence.

If Zhou Guifen hadn’t joined Community 17 and had been replaced with Luo Wei, then Luo Wei would certainly also 100% not know the answers to these two questions.

What about Community 13? Probably hard to say as well.

If both communities answered incorrectly, even after eliminating two wrong answers, the players in the field would still have to choose one from the other two wrong answers.

If they chose wrong again, that would be completely over. The game would be completely unplayable.

This round of questions could even be said to show mercy from the God’s Imitator who designed this game. What if next time, the game only allowed one side’s audience to answer? Or what if answering incorrectly didn’t eliminate wrong answers?

That could very likely cause catastrophic consequences.

Of course, Cai Zhiyuan’s statement at this moment had somewhat of a suspicion of elevating matters to a political level and using the topic to make a point.

After all, when recruiting Luo Wei, no one could predict that a reproduction-related judgment game would appear at this time but from the result, recruiting Luo Wei was indeed a mistake.

Li Renshu had proposed recruiting an older member with a common profession at that time, such as a worker, farmer, or teacher. If they had recruited according to this requirement, there very likely wouldn’t have been a betrayal, and she could have perfectly answered the questions in ’Childbirth Judgment’ just like Zhou Guifen.

Li Renshu hadn’t insisted on this point at the time, but ultimately chose to have everyone vote.

So naturally, this mistake should be borne by everyone.

Li Renshu looked at Cai Zhiyuan. She herself also felt very surprised.

Because before the second recruitment, Li Renshu had chatted privately with Cai Zhiyuan, and Cai Zhiyuan was also opposed to recruiting a common profession at that time but now he clearly stood on her side.

Hard to say how much of Cai Zhiyuan’s words were sincere.

However, for Li Renshu, there was absolutely no reason to undermine him at this moment, because Cai Zhiyuan’s words were actually enhancing her prestige.

So she could only listen silently.

Cai Zhiyuan continued, ”I believe this problem is not accidental.

”Because as long as it’s multi-person voting, no matter how much we emphasize supplementing knowledge structures, everyone will still subconsciously choose new members they personally prefer.

”In other words, the new members chosen by community voting are not the optimal solution at all, but rather the result of the optimal solution being adjusted toward the preferences of most members in our community.

”This result could very likely be a case of a slight error leading to a huge deviation.”

Everyone fell silent again.

What Cai Zhiyuan said had some merit. Although everyone knew the importance of ’maintaining diversity’, this wasn’t something so easy to accomplish.

When most people voted, they would still mix in their own subjective preferences, possibly even unconsciously.

Wang Yongxin heard the implication in Cai Zhiyuan’s words and frowned slightly, ”So you mean that all future recruitments should be decided by Li Renshu alone?”

Cai Zhiyuan shook his head, ”Of course not.

”What I mean is that completely arbitrary voting, or completely handing this power to one person, are both inappropriate.

”There are always some people who see further ahead. Their opinions need some additional weight.

”Of course, this is just a kind of proposal. Whether to continue trying to push forward still needs careful consideration.

”Back to this recruitment topic, I believe that rather than continuing to select people for recruitment, we might as well try to poach people from games.

”The advantage of self-recruitment is that we can customize the age and profession of new members to a certain degree.

”But from previous situations, the Gallery’s selection isn’t very reliable.

”Moreover, players who just entered the New World very likely don’t have a clear understanding of themselves or this world, and their personalities are completely uncontrollable.

”But if they’re players who have already survived in the New World for a period of time, there shouldn’t be too serious problems in this regard.

”Because up to now, the Gallery has already eliminated many unreliable players for us. Those who are stubborn, obstinate, or don’t understand teamwork, most can’t survive until now.

”The remaining players, relatively speaking, should have a relatively clear understanding of themselves and the community.

”They won’t have situations like Luo Wei’s.

”If we poach people, although we can’t customize the new member’s profession, we can observe their behavior in games and consider whether they’re compatible with our community, which is actually a more reliable choice.

”For example, a new member like Aunt Zhou is very perfect for our community.

”We don’t need someone very clever or with independent leadership ability. As long as they’re stable, reliable, able to execute team decisions, and able to supplement our knowledge system, that’s enough.”

Hearing this, quite a few people were nodding.

Cai Zhiyuan’s conclusion was indeed somewhat arbitrary. Who could assert that players poached from other communities in games would definitely be more reliable than new members?

But most people reviewed their previous experiences and indeed could be easily persuaded by this viewpoint.

After all, as Wang Yongxin had said to Yang Yuting before: people are creatures of experience, and can only learn lessons from recent history.

Wang Yongxin frowned slightly, ”But this brings up a new problem:

”If it’s a game with very few people, we most likely won’t encounter suitable candidates. If it’s a game with many people, who specifically should we poach, and who decides?”
