God's Imitator

Arriving at the first judgment room, everyone looked around. The arrangement here looked very simple.

A female player was locked to the wall, looking at the four people with terror on her face.

Her mouth was also sealed by a mechanism, unable to make any sound.

Opposite the female player was a judgment platform.

In the upper right corner of the judgment platform was a small round platform that appeared to be for striking the gavel.

In the center of the judgment platform, a sharp dagger was inserted, its blade glinting with a cold light.

This dagger looked somewhat out of place, causing some disruption to the judgment platform’s arrangement. However, no one paid much attention to it. After all, there were many meaningless set pieces in the game, possibly merely due to some special preferences of the God’s Imitator.

Everyone came before the judgment platform. The screen on the side also began reading aloud this sinner’s specific crimes.

[While joking with an intoxicated male friend, pushed the other person into a river and left alone, resulting in the victim’s drowning death.]

[Judgment result: Sentenced to 6 years imprisonment for causing death through negligence, compensated victim’s family 800,000, sentence already completed.]The four people looked at each other.

Li Jiang went through almost no thought process, ”Death penalty, what’s there to discuss?”

According to the game rules, players could choose three different additional judgments: not guilty, disciplinary action, and death penalty.

From the literal meaning, not guilty meant direct release.

Disciplinary action would involve some specific punishment, not as easy as acquittal, but wouldn’t result in death.

Jiang He disagreed with Li Jiang’s view, ”But this is causing death through negligence! The law already sentenced 6 years, and the sentence has been completed.

”Isn’t the death penalty somewhat excessive?”

Li Jiang was somewhat speechless, ”I don’t understand law, but I don’t quite understand what the difference is between this and intentional homicide?

”The victim was already drunk. Even if he could swim, could he swim up after falling into the river? Besides, after this person pushed the victim down, they didn’t even look and just left directly. If they had tried to rescue even once, I’d believe it was negligent homicide.”

Jiang He still insisted on her view, ”But this isn’t the complete case file, right? When the law judged her, they should have conducted a more detailed investigation, which is why they concluded it was negligent homicide.

”She’s already completed her sentence. To judge death penalty again, isn’t that unjust? If we think the previous sentencing was too light, giving ’disciplinary action’ now should be about right.

”Don’t forget, the audience’s suggestion to us was also ’save many.’”

Li Jiang felt somewhat deflated, ”You’re the Chief Judge. Judge however you want. If you’ve already made up your mind beyond doubt, don’t pretend to seek my opinion.”

Jiang He frowned, ”What do you mean pretend to seek opinion? Aren’t I discussing with you?”

Li Jiang spread his hands with a ”whatever you want” attitude.

Jiang He looked at Yang Yuting and Chen Yumei, ”What do you think?”

”Either way is fine.”

These two obviously had no particularly strong opinions.

Jiang He directly struck the gavel on the judgment platform, ”Disciplinary action.”

As soon as the words fell, the mechanism sealing the woman’s mouth automatically unlocked.

At the same time, many spikes extended from the mechanism locking her body, piercing through non-vital areas of her body. She struggled desperately, but the more she struggled, the deeper the wounds became.

The locked woman let out shrill screams.

Fortunately, the disciplinary time wasn’t very long. After about ten seconds, these spikes on the mechanism retracted, and the mechanism automatically unlocked.

The woman fell to the ground with a ”thud.”

Jiang He stepped forward and asked, ”Are you okay?”

The woman gritted her teeth, her face streaked with tears, ”I’m fine.”

”What’s your name? Which community?”

”Community 5, Bai Yanyan.”

Jiang He helped her simply check the wounds, mainly on the back and legs. Although they hadn’t injured vital areas and she could still walk with a limp, the injuries were indeed not light.

[Remaining childbirth fund: 119,000]

Choosing disciplinary action would deduct 1,000 childbirth fund points. Compared to choosing not guilty which deducted 10,000 points, it was relatively acceptable.

”Let’s go.”

The four people brought Bai Yanyan and continued forward, but after pushing open the door, they didn’t immediately arrive at the second judgment room.

This was still the first judgment room, just separated into two halves by a door.

The arrangement was completely the same. There was also a judgment platform with a dagger still inserted on it.

The only difference was that the person locked to the wall was a male.

[While swimming at a reservoir with friends, saw a certain strange woman and wanted to play a joke, hugged her from behind and jumped into the reservoir causing her death.]

[Judgment result: Sentenced to 2 years imprisonment for causing death through negligence, compensated victim’s family 4 million, sentence already completed.]

Yang Yuting suggested, ”Should we test him with that previous milk feeding question? If he can answer it, we could consider...”

Li Jiang reminded, ”I’m afraid not. These criminals all have their mouths blocked by mechanisms and can’t answer questions.

”Only after making a judgment will the mechanisms on their mouths unlock.”

Jiang He frowned and said, ”Indeed not! This person must receive death penalty.”

Li Jiang found it somewhat laughable, ”Hey, hey, hey, hey, that’s not right. Didn’t these two commit exactly the same crime?

”Both pushed the other person into water causing death. Why does this one get death penalty?

”I’m not arguing with you, but if you want death penalty, make it all death penalty. If you want disciplinary action, make it all disciplinary action. Having double standards isn’t quite appropriate, right?”

Jiang He frowned, ”This is different.

”The previous case was causing death through negligence while horsing around with a friend. We have no way to understand the specific relationship between friends and the details of their horseplay. Perhaps the friends frequently played prank jokes before?

”This case involves a stranger.

”Deliberately hugging a stranger and jumping into water makes even less sense, right?

”Moreover, this one was only sentenced to 2 years, judged much more leniently than Bai Yanyan’s situation, and much lighter!”

Bai Yanyan lowered her head, not daring to speak.

Li Jiang countered, ”Then why is there such a difference in sentencing? Because one compensated 800,000, the other compensated 4 million.”

Jiang He obviously didn’t accept this statement, ”How can human life be measured with money? Can you reduce the sentence by paying compensation? I say this crime should be increased by one degree!”

After speaking, she directly struck the gavel on the judgment platform.

”Death penalty!”

Yang Yuting instinctively wanted to stop her but didn’t have time. She thought about it, judging death penalty would also gain 10,000 childbirth fund points, meaning killing or saving both had different clearance methods.

Even if this game truly had hidden fairness judgment, considering the severity of this male criminal’s negligent homicide, the fairness score shouldn’t drop too much.

Everyone looked at the data notice board in each room. The childbirth fund amount didn’t immediately change, still remaining at 119,000.

Jiang He had originally thought this criminal would directly suffer instant death penalty, be injected with lethal toxin by the bracelet, or be killed by a mechanism but nothing happened.

Jiang He was stunned, ”What does this mean? Is the game malfunctioning?”

Everyone fell into silence.

Li Jiang looked at the dagger inserted on the judgment platform and realized the only possibility, ”Perhaps this means... we have to carry out the death penalty ourselves.”

He made a ”please” gesture toward the dagger, ”Please execute the judgment, Chief Judge.”
