Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

”You did this? You have this kind of ability?”

Faced with Old Zheng’s sudden candid and confident statement, Lin Yu instead appeared somewhat incredulous.

Old Zheng’s flashing frequency accelerated, and there was a smile in his tone: ”Surprised, boss?”

”Of course. Those three Fourth Tiers, or even those two S-ranks from the Psychological Society, you probably couldn’t beat a single one of them,” Lin Yu retorted. ”How could you make her stronger?”

”The answer is naturally that most famous operation I orchestrated on the Misty Islands,” Old Zheng said, his tone casual, as if discussing some perfectly ordinary experience. ”The Misty Islands Master died. A demigod fell, so naturally a great many ’vacancies’ were left behind.”

”Before he died, he controlled almost all the resources of the Misty Islands’ ancient civilization and held the highest-level ’privileges,’” Old Zheng narrated, pausing briefly. ”And those resources and privileges wouldn’t simply vanish into thin air just because he died.”

”You’ve already met Morse. He inherited a small portion of the Misty Islands Master’s resources and gained the ability to control the Sea Spawns. Another person obtained the blueprints and operational rights for the ancient civilization’s ’sky airship routes.’”

”And the island lords who participated also got their hands on plenty of things. However, counting my gains, all of us remaining people combined only inherited about thirty percent of his resources.”

”The remaining seventy percent, under my design, all went to a single person.”

Old Zheng spoke with a proud tone.

Lin Yu caught on. ”That would be the Lord of the Sixth Island, Princess White Moon?”

”Naturally. All the ancient civilization’s ruins, guards, and inheritance operational and ownership rights, all of the Misty Islands’ ’Heart Aspect’ series products, she holds the highest privileges for all of them and is the ’owner’ in their foundational settings. At the same time, most of the wineries and factories the Misty Islands Master established are actually also under her name,” Old Zheng said calmly. ”The Diviner came all the way to retrieve the ’Misty Islands Master’s life soul’ that I had been holding all along, do you remember? Where there’s a life soul, there’s naturally a living soul. The life soul was in my hands as research material and the core maintaining the asylum’s operations, so the living soul was naturally dispersed and absorbed by her.”

”And she was already a genius of the ancient civilization in the fields of psychic power and the mind. Her psychic power and soul intensity levels were themselves not low. After completely absorbing the Misty Islands Master’s living soul, she grew to a terrifying degree. In a place like the Misty Islands, as long as she wills it, she can forcibly manipulate any living creature.”

”In other words, her home turf isn’t the Sixth Island, nor the ruins. It’s practically everywhere in the entire Misty Islands covered by traces of the ancient civilization. Moreover, those large ancient civilization ruin shelters are all interconnected through ’Heart Aspect Teleportation’ technology. In other words, standing within any single ruin, she can draw upon the resources of all ruins to do battle.”

As Old Zheng spoke, Lin Yu instantly understood.

With such an ability, even if this Princess White Moon wasn’t any Chosen One, she was indeed sufficient to simultaneously contend against three Fourth Tiers.

Lin Yu nodded. ”I see. Then you really are quite the bastard, saving the biggest benefits for your special someone.”

Old Zheng chuckled, his light flickering. ”This wasn’t something I ’saved’ for her. Rather, only she could inherit it, and it was her due inheritance. She is the purest ancient person, completely uncontaminated, so she inherited by order of succession.”

”Even those privileges mostly belonged to her to begin with. The Misty Islands Master was the one who stole the privileges. All of this is simply returning things to their rightful owner.”

As Old Zheng said this, Lin Yu could roughly piece together the whole picture.

Although this brain’s account was somewhat biased and embellished, Lin Yu still caught on.

Perhaps the fact that Princess White Moon was the ”first in line to inherit” all the ancient civilization’s resources wasn’t the main reason Old Zheng wanted to kill the Misty Islands Master, but it was certainly one of the reasons he made up his mind!

He absolutely first realized that if that bastard Misty Islands Master died, someone with a better relationship with him and easier to bend to his will would inherit those things. That was why he acted.

Although the Sixth Island’s average strength might not match other top-ten islands, this island genuinely housed an absurdly powerful monster.

Thankfully...

”This monster is Old Zheng’s lover.”

Lin Yu sighed inwardly, then picked Old Zheng up again.

”But speaking of which... since you’ve done so many favors for her and your relationship certainly isn’t bad, why are you so afraid of her? Could it be you feel guilty?”

Lin Yu circled back to the topic.

Faced with Lin Yu’s words, Old Zheng’s answer remained resolute and unchanged: ”Because she has mental illness and very severe psychological problems. If I see her and I trigger her, that would be terrible. I have no way of predicting what extreme things she might do.”

”Cut the crap. It’s not like I haven’t seen her. This time I even had contact with her twice,” Lin Yu lifted Old Zheng up, looking at the brain matter level with him. ”She’s clearly a very gentle and kind young girl, and extremely polite, not at all like someone mentally unstable. Why do you keep denigrating her?” ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

”I think you just feel guilty toward her and don’t dare face her yourself, so you keep making excuses.”

As Lin Yu spoke, Old Zheng flickered twice. ”If that’s what you think, boss, I have no objection. But next time you go to the Misty Islands, you can try appearing before her with Schreiber’s face. Of course, I still very sincerely advise you not to do that.”

”Why make it sound so terrifying?” Lin Yu placed Old Zheng back on the desk. ”As if it’s something so dreadful.”

”I really am not lying to you.”

Old Zheng said with a serious expression.

Lin Yu sighed. ”I know you’re not lying to me, but that doesn’t mean you’re right. You might just be exaggerating certain traits of her personality. Because you yourself don’t want to see her and don’t dare to, you keep giving yourself psychological suggestions to rationalize your behavior.”

”No, boss, why are you now doing psychological analysis on me? That’s my job.”

Lin Yu shrugged. ”Don’t you think what I said makes a lot of sense? Alright, let’s not talk about this anymore.”

Feeling that he had already learned roughly what he wanted to know and that continuing this topic would only lead to a meaningless argument with Old Zheng, Lin Yu took the initiative to end it.

”Didn’t you say you were going to teach me about those items? Get ready. I just need to send a few messages and we can start.”

He said, pulling out his phone and finding the chat windows with Li Hua and Fu Luo.

Now... the timing was about right.

The news that ”Old Yao” was safe had already gotten out, and the internal message relay within Order should have begun as well.

Now...

The ”Director Lin Yu,” who had one hundred percent already negotiated with Old Yao but definitely couldn’t get all the information from the ”unconscious for the latter half” Old Yao, would naturally display ”curiosity.”

”What exactly happened with this Misty Islands operation?” This one was sent to Li Hua.

”Old Yao is safe now. Are you alright on your end?” This one was sent to Fu Luo.

Although he sent to Li Hua first, unexpectedly...

The first to reply was Fu Luo.

”I’m fine. Good thing Old Yao is okay. Brother Lin, this one’s on me. I didn’t protect him.”

Then came Li Hua’s message. Li Hua uncharacteristically didn’t directly answer Lin Yu’s question.

”Busy. Talk tomorrow morning.”

Lin Yu was somewhat surprised.

”What is Li Hua up to now?”

He didn’t even say to wait a bit. He said ”talk tomorrow morning.”

Could it be that he also went to the Misty Islands as backup?
