Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

“Old Yao, Old Yao, wake up!”

Lin Yu “slowly came to” from the pool of blood, barely clinging to life as he looked weakly at the Tycoon before him.

His expression shifted from surprise and relief to guilt.

“Boss... Boss, I’m sorry.”

“I made a mess of things... let you down.”

The Tycoon’s face was grim, but he still forced a smile: “It’s fine, you didn’t let anyone down. You were amazing.”

“This is my fault. I shouldn’t have brought you here... I shouldn’t have taken so long to get here.”

As the Tycoon spoke, Lin Yu nodded but didn’t answer.

He just took two slow, heavy breaths, then struggled to lift himself—though in reality, he only managed to raise his head a few centimeters.

The Tycoon grabbed Lin Yu’s slightly raised hand.

“The inheritance is in the hands of that statue over there—Furbollo and the others are hiding in the corner,” Lin Yu said, as if using every last ounce of strength, blood foam bubbling from his mouth. “I... I’m sorry.”

“You came just in time... I was too foolish.”

Lin Yu finished speaking, then closed his eyes, his breathing ceasing immediately.

The Tycoon watched this scene, let out a long sigh, silently shoved a pill into Lin Yu’s mouth, then straightened up.

Over there, Nineteen, who had been slapped onto the ceiling by [Hayek’s Invisible Hand], had also recovered. He used wind force to support himself as he slowly descended, then looked at the man in the blue suit.

“’Tycoon’ of ’Jiang’an Hall,’ huh. Ranked twenty-seventh, no wonder you’re not simple... Although you’re ranked last among ’Fourth Tiers,’ ’Fourth Tier’ is still ’Fourth Tier’ after all!”

Despite his words, Nineteen’s gaze showed no sign of retreat—in fact, there was even a hint of eagerness in his eyes.

“Honestly... the people from your organization surprised me. Just a ’First-Tier,’ but tougher than expected—he’s hard to kill.”

The Tycoon listened to Nineteen’s words without responding, instead looking at his back.

“Is that gray panel your [Exclusive Item]? Looks like... a ’cheat’ from a video game.”

Nineteen heard the Tycoon’s words and shook his head slightly: “This isn’t a cheat, old man. This is the [Character Editor]—if you don’t understand, don’t talk nonsense.”

As they spoke, Nineteen’s indicators slid again, quietly raising his stats for stamina, strength, and everything else.

The Tycoon didn’t answer, instead looking toward the corner.

Because the [Mirror of Concealment] had dissipated, Fu Luo and his group’s figures appeared there as well.

Looking at the Tycoon, Fu Luo couldn’t feel happy—because he also saw “Old Yao” lying in the pool of blood.

He spoke apologetically: “Tycoon, this is all my fault... I should have stopped him.”

“If I had decided to retreat earlier... maybe things would be different.”

The Tycoon let out a breath: “This isn’t the time for that, Comrade ’Furbollo.’ What are your clearance conditions?”

“From now on, focus entirely on clearing the stage. Once you’re out, find ’Loquat Candy’ immediately and ask him to treat Old Yao—I used the [Rejuvenating Life Pill] from Prison Mountain Realm to keep him alive. If possible... there might still be hope.”

Fu Luo’s expression turned serious: “Understood—but our clearance condition is to destroy that cursed statue, and the ’inheritance’ is also in that statue’s hands.”

“Boom!”

The Tycoon raised his hand, and the supposedly indestructible glass was struck by the invisible giant hand, a crack appearing on it.

“Forget about the inheritance. I’ll open the glass for you, and you destroy the statue—but no need to rush.”

He looked at Nineteen in front of him and said, “I still need to make this ’Marauder’ scumbag pay.”

Nineteen looked at the Tycoon and sneered: “A weakest ’Fourth Tier’ talking big—you think you’ve got me in the bag?!”

“Even among the ’Marauders,’ I’m in the top five in combat strength—a local thug from Jiangcheng, who do you think you’re fooling?!”

[Storm Edict] activated—Nineteen chose to strike first, aggressively!

Gale-force winds acted like boosters propelling Nineteen’s movements, bringing him before the Tycoon in an instant with his folding knife!

Using [Storm Edict] for ranged attacks was nothing but a way to bully the weak...

The real purpose of this thing was “close combat”!

Speed pushed to the absolute limit, the folding knife fast as a ghost’s shadow!

And during the swing, Nineteen instantly adjusted his speed downward, redistributing some of those points to strength!

This was what made his [Character Editor] truly insane—once mastered, he could dynamically reallocate his stats even mid-combat.

What appeared to be 100 points of speed could at any moment transform into 100 points of strength, or 100 points of cooldown, or 100 points of attack!

“Whoosh!”

The blade struck the Tycoon’s left forearm—it had been aimed at his neck, but was forcibly blocked.

Even so, the strike nearly severed his forearm.

Blood sprayed between the two, and the Tycoon spoke coldly, his voice so calm it was as if he wasn’t the one injured at all.

“[Commercial Medical Insurance], Emergency Specialist Mode, Out-of-Pocket Maximum, no budget control—full treatment!”

“Maintain this payment plan for the rest of the fight.”

“Ding! Ding! Ding!”

The sound effects of successful payments and balance transfers rang out, and green light flared up around the Tycoon’s body.

Then, the wound on his forearm healed almost instantly, forcibly popping Nineteen’s knife out.

“What a disgusting ’Unique Class.’”

Nineteen spat, preparing to use [Storm Edict] again to create distance.

But...

“Boom!”

The invisible hand restrained him mid-air, cutting off his escape route.

Nineteen frowned: “You want to fight to the death?”

“No, I want you to pay with your life for my brother Old Yao,” the Tycoon said, clenching his right fist as the gemstone ring and thick gold ring on it blazed with dazzling light. “[Investment Action]—invest three million in liquid capital, use eight million in fixed assets as collateral, five times... no, twenty times leverage, goddammit... ALL... IN... RECHARGE!”

With the Tycoon’s explosive roar, the piggy bank spat out gold coins one after another, merging into his body, and his clenched right fist blazed with golden light as brilliant as the sun!

His opponent Nineteen and his [Exclusive Item] made him seem like a cheating player running a game modifier...

But the Tycoon’s ability was spending money!

Since ancient times, how could any cheater ever triumph over a paying whale?

A single punch, plain and unadorned but carrying a terrifying amount of money, swung out—so heavy, so massive, it was like a meteor impact.

“BOOM!”

Nineteen had tried desperately to dodge and block, pouring every single stat point into defense-related indicators, but...

He didn’t even get to scream before he was sent flying like a kite with a snapped string, completely unconscious!

Lin Yu, lying on the ground, secretly peeked through his squinted eyes at the scene and couldn’t help but marvel.

“What a formidable man! So this is the power of money and capital?!”
