Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

”Two monsters!”

Chlorpromazine spoke up unexpectedly.

In an instant, Nineteen, who had been exuding overwhelming pressure, had already fallen into a disadvantage.

And he, who was cooperating with Nineteen, naturally found himself in a tight spot as well.

Of course...

Theoretically, the side that had regained the advantage, Fu Luo’s group, wasn’t optimistic either.

Because the two newly appeared monsters weren’t on their side either.

But the injuries of King Vulture and Kitty were undeniably real.

The Soul-Draining Vine was manageable, for now it seemed to only be restricting Nineteen alone.

However...

After the fog in the research institute grew denser, the other figure that had transformed into ”Nineteen” was nowhere to be seen.

It was as if that monster had merged into the mist itself.

”Damn it...!”

Fu Luo gritted his teeth.

Were they already trapped in a desperate situation without even touching the inheritance?

Even... if they didn’t want the inheritance and only wanted to ”achieve the clearance conditions,” it still seemed unrealistic.

Although he knew he was essentially just pretending to be strong, Fu Luo understood...

He was ultimately the leader of the team.

At this moment, no matter how he had come to be the leader, he had to take responsibility at this instant.

Having chosen to enjoy the benefits of ”fame,” he also had to bear its obligations.

So...

He had to make a decision.

And in Fu Luo’s view, there was only one path forward.

”Sending coordinates! We’ve done our best!”

”Getting this far is already good enough—leave the rest to the ’support’!”

He shouted, pulling out the [Item] that [Order] had given him from his chest.

A device resembling a launcher was planted on the ground by Fu Luo...

Then, a blue ”beam” that ignored all terrain and restrictions shot straight into the sky. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ

And at the moment Fu Luo shouted, Lin Yu also pulled out the [Item] the Tycoon had given him.

Compared to Fu Luo’s gadget, what the Tycoon gave Lin Yu was much more compact.

It was a device that looked like a satellite phone.

Lin Yu long-pressed the ”SOS button” on it, and the phone began transmitting signals.

It wasn’t just Lin Yu and Fu Luo...

Chlorpromazine and King Vulture over there also pulled out their own signal-transmitting devices one after another.

The moment Fu Luo started calling for backup, everyone started calling for backup!

And what came next was a race to see whose reinforcements would arrive first.

However...

Nineteen of the [Marauders] didn’t call for reinforcements—even though he appeared to be in the worst condition right now, he still made no move at all.

Therefore...

As his ”ally,” Chlorpromazine naturally began urging him: ”Hey—[Marauders] guy, why don’t you call for backup too—they’ve all started calling!”

”Where are the big shots from your [Marauders]?”

As Chlorpromazine urged him, Nineteen, who was still fighting the Soul-Draining Vine for control of his body, let out a breath.

”Interesting, so high-tier players from all sides are starting to enter the field?”

Then, he looked at Chlorpromazine: ”I have no reinforcements... Seems like [Wundt] didn’t explain things clearly to you.”

”I’m the only combat force [Marauders] sent to meddle in this mess.”

As Nineteen spoke, Chlorpromazine frowned: ”Bro, then your [Marauders] is being a bit insincere, just one [Second Tier]...”

Then, Chlorpromazine suddenly stopped mid-sentence.

Because he suddenly felt an increasingly powerful aura surging from Nineteen’s body.

Gray particles emerged from all over him, like some kind of special effect.

Seeing this, Fu Luo’s expression turned grim: ”Damn, looks like [Marauders]’ [Third Tier] will be the first to arrive... because they directly sent a [Third Tier] in with a one-way ticket!”

”What?!”

King Vulture stared at him in shock: ”But he completely looks like a [Second Tier], how is that possible?”

”Because this ’Nineteen’ is special. Among the [Marauders], there’s a [Third Tier] ’Coder’ who can use an [Exclusive Item] to freely adjust his own rank and combat power... So it’s this guy!”

Nineteen looked at Fu Luo: ”[Order]’s information and intel really are comprehensive.”

”You even know my [Class].”

”Let me introduce myself, my code name is ’Nineteen.’ I’m still a student, but in my spare time I make indie games with friends—I handle the numbers and programming... Well, that might be why a Student ended up becoming a ’Coder.’”

As Nineteen spoke, gray particles coalesced behind him into a barely visible semi-transparent panel, with rows upon rows of options displayed on it.

This was Nineteen’s [Exclusive Item]—the [Character Editor]!

By relying on the options within the [Character Editor], Nineteen could freely adjust quantifiable values such as his ”usable item count,” ”item cooldown time,” ”ranged item power,” ”mana value,” ”stamina value,” and so on.

Although adjusting toward stronger values required first lowering other option values to gain ”free points,” and the exchange rate wasn’t one-to-one—there was a ”loss.”

But making himself look like a noob was very convenient—he just had to lower the values and he was good to go.

Of course...

When it came to real combat, this thing was also very useful for strengthening himself.

Behind Nineteen, several sliding buttons moved back and forth following his consciousness.

Cooldown time increased, usable quantity slightly decreased, stamina decreased...

Then ”soul resistance” increased, and increased, and increased!

As his soul resistance continued to rise, the Soul-Draining Vine was quickly ”bounced off” him!

”Damn otherworldly being!”

The Soul-Draining Vine yelled, tumbling to the ground and transforming into a mass of vines—that was its true body.

”Solved... tsk, sure enough, as long as I stop playing weak, this kind of thing poses no threat to me at all.”

”Alright... anyway, the problem’s solved and I’ve been exposed... might as well kill these eyesores while I’m at it.”

As Nineteen spoke, the values behind him adjusted dynamically again.

This time, he greatly enhanced his physique, then drew out his folding knife once more.

Just as he was about to make his move, Nineteen suddenly noticed...

Fu Luo, King Vulture, and Kitty—the three living, breathing people who had been right there—were all gone!

Even that skinny, dark-skinned Thief had disappeared into the fog!

”This damn monster, is it targeting me?!”

”Deliberately smoking the area to cover for the enemy, huh!”

Nineteen said angrily, then began enhancing his perception.

And at this very moment, in a corner of the fog...

Four people huddled together behind a huge mirror, extremely tense.

”Can this mirror of yours really make it so he can’t find us?”

Fu Luo asked in a low voice.

”Guaranteed. This mirror is literally called the [Mirror of Concealment]. It can reflect and block all energy and detection. If we had enough privileges, we could even slip into the mirror world, but unfortunately I haven’t mastered that,” Lin Yu said seriously. ”So we should be fine holding out in this fog until reinforcements arrive.”

”That’s good, that’s good,” Kitty let out a long breath. Her face was somewhat pale from blood loss, but she still felt relieved. ”Old Yao, you’re really amazing.”

”Indeed, you’re quite skilled at escaping and hiding. But why didn’t you take out this mirror earlier?”

King Vulture also said.

Lin Yu calmly utilized the belief of the others, then withdrew some belief from his [Pyramid Scheme] to supplement it, turning the existence of the [Mirror of Concealment] into reality.

”Because it wasn’t needed earlier!”

The truth was, this thing didn’t exist earlier either.
