Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

“We’re screwed...”

Hearing Lacan’s words, Lin Yu couldn’t help but let out a sigh.

It was common knowledge that the Tycoon was the widely acknowledged weakest of all Fourth Tier Players...

Which meant that Lacan, who had also unlocked his Heart Domain and was also Fourth Tier, would rank above the Tycoon in overall strength... at least according to that ranking Shen Bingmiao had put together.

Moreover...

Even setting aside the difference in ”stats,” just looking at the mechanics alone, Lacan seemed to have an edge over the Tycoon!

Although this was Lin Yu’s first time encountering both of their Heart Domains, and all his information came from lying on the ground observing and analyzing, he didn’t have much to work with.

But this information... was enough.

The Tycoon’s Money Makes the World Go Round, as far as he could tell, consumed his financial resources to alter everything around him—even the opponent’s own items—in ways that benefited him.

The fact that Lacan himself wasn’t using any items at all was a telling clue in itself.

And Lacan’s Gaze and Scrutiny...

Although he claimed its effect was for observing other people’s thoughts, based on what he’d demonstrated so far...

He had the ability to deliver ”psychological suggestions that caused others to lose emotional control,” and could ”revive from physical injuries after being struck down.”

Moreover, this Heart Domain seemed to function like a death curse—it would take effect through his corpse after he was ”killed.”

Which meant...

The Tycoon, who only had ”physical attack” methods, seemed hard-pressed to deal with this guy!

”The main issue is that we don’t have enough information about him... There’s no way unlocking a Heart Domain grants this guy a truly unkillable body. There must be some kind of limitation or weakness,” Lin Yu thought seriously while lying on the ground. ”It’s just that the Tycoon probably doesn’t know what that ’limitation’ or ’weakness’ actually is.”

Even if he did know, the Tycoon might not be able to effectively counter it...

But then again...

Lacan didn’t seem to have demonstrated any ability that could easily break through the Tycoon’s defenses either—in the physical sense.

From a psychological standpoint though, the Tycoon was probably on the verge of cracking.

Lin Yu’s mind raced.

If the one who’d shown up was a Fourth Tier from the Marauders, Lin Yu wouldn’t be nearly this invested.

The only Marauder he held a serious grudge against was the Diviner himself.

But this was a Fourth Tier from the Psychological Society—given his own deep-seated, unshakeable hatred, every member of the Psychological Society was a potential enemy in Lin Yu’s eyes.

And if what Old Zheng said was true, the higher-ups of the Psychological Society were people he might need to figure out how to kill, one by one.

Not to mention...

As for Lacan’s Gaze and Scrutiny, Lin Yu figured it probably didn’t have anything like direct mind-reading capabilities, and with his own ”concealment” level being respectable, the other party might not be able to see through him...

At least for now, the guy didn’t seem to have noticed that he was lying on the ground playing dead, nor did he realize that Lin Yu’s thoughts were actually quite active.

But still...

The sooner this guy died, the more at ease Lin Yu would feel.

So... Lin Yu was currently actively collecting and analyzing information about Lacan.

And after Lacan and the Tycoon had both activated their Heart Domains, the previously non-stop, intense battle had inevitably ground to a halt.

Since the Tycoon couldn’t kill Lacan, and killing him carried the risk of empowering the enemy instead, the Tycoon had temporarily stopped attacking Lacan.

Lacan...

Didn’t seem inclined to make a move against the Tycoon either.

The two of them just stood there in silence, the space between them serving as a dividing line that split the entire area into ”two halves.”

Lacan looked at the Tycoon for a long moment, then turned to Dolantine and spoke.

”Um... Dolantine, sorry to bother you, but could you treat that young friend from the Marauders? Otherwise, it might be hard to explain things to their side.”

His tone was full of apology yet perfectly measured.

Dolantine nodded. ”It’s within my duties, you’re too polite... However, his mental state might not be very stable. I’m afraid he might be affected by you.”

She said this casually, confirming Lin Yu’s speculation that ”Lacan has the ability to influence others’ mental states.”

Lacan didn’t seem to mind the comment, merely nodding. ”Don’t worry, I’ll keep it in check.”

He paused after saying this, then added, ”But we should hurry.”

The Tycoon watched Lacan casually arranging medical treatment and let out a breath. ”Furbollo—you keep breaking the glass too.”

After all, based on their current positions, the glass room housing the Cursed Statues was now in the half controlled by the Tycoon.

Fu Luo, upon hearing this, immediately got back to work.

Soon...

”Crash!”

With the combined efforts of Fu Luo, King Vulture, and Kitty, the sturdy glass was chipped open with a hole large enough for one person to pass through.

However, the moment the glass room was breached, the black shadow beneath the statues emitted a rustling sound like whispers, and for a moment, no one dared to move.

Meanwhile...

Nineteen had also been jabbed with a few needles of medicine by Dolantine and woke up with a sharp intake of breath.

”Hiss—ah!”

However, his condition seemed like he’d been forcibly booted up—his injuries hadn’t healed at all, and he looked like he was in so much pain he was baring his teeth.

But that was exactly Dolantine’s intention.

”You’re awake. You should have your own recovery potions, right?”

Before Dolantine could even finish speaking, Nineteen felt his body’s condition and quickly pulled a bottle of thick, dark green liquid from his item space, popped the cork, and poured it into his mouth. After taking a big gulp and gasping for air, he spoke with some surprise.

”You’re from the Psychological Society? Who are you?”

Dolantine introduced herself. ”Dolantine. We should have met before—the one ahead is our organization’s Lacan.”

Nineteen was taken aback. ”You’re Dolantine? Even the S-Class Specialists got an iteration? The Dolantine I met before... didn’t look like this!”

Dolantine wasn’t offended. She smiled and said, ”This is my second stage.”

Nineteen looked more carefully. ”Oh, sorry, I suppose you do look somewhat similar... But hey, between Lacan and you and me... there’s only one Tycoon on the other side, and the others haven’t arrived yet. Why not make a move?”

Nineteen, looking at the now-breached glass room, pulled out his magic potion and asked.

”That inheritance is right there... aren’t you in a hurry?”

Lacan looked at Nineteen again. ”Although he can’t do anything to me, I’m not confident I can break through Money Makes the World Go Round... Besides, the other side isn’t just one person.”

”Order’s reinforcements arrived long ago.”

Both Nineteen and Dolantine were stunned. ”Where?”

Lacan raised his hand and pointed at a glass room—inside it stood a tree that was largely metalized, with lush, thriving branches and leaves.

”There.”

As his words fell, the oil paint between the trees faded, revealing a young man wearing an administrative jacket and a blue shirt, dressed very much like a government official, but with a small ponytail tied at the back of his head.

”Good eyesight, Lacan.”

As he spoke, the man jumped down from the tree.

The Tycoon turned his head and recognized him.

”It’s Brother Rengu—you arrived long ago? Why didn’t you come out!”
