Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

After returning to Jiangcheng and reporting his safety to Phantom Hand, Lin Yu once again used the Heart-Mind Teleportation Gun to return to the hotel in Zheng City.

He had heard it clearly, Tycoon intended to have Order’s Miracle Doctor Loquat Candy treat him.

This Third Tier Doctor, designated by Order’s high-ranking members to handle logistics and healing, commanded Lin Yu’s deep respect for his medical skill. Lin Yu automatically placed him at the level of Doctor Quack, Hao Hongye, or Blackjack, at minimum on par with Phantom Troupe’s Machi, where reattaching severed limbs and bringing the dead back to life were basic skills.

Even though Lin Yu was confident in his acting, he was terrified that Loquat Candy would take one glance and immediately see through him as bursting with vigor and full of life.

Although he could spin a lie to cover it up...

It was still best to report his safety and not trouble Doctor Loquat Candy.

After all, he was probably quite busy.

”In any case... once Tycoon comes out, I’ll meet him in a state that looks relatively healthy, like I’ve ’mostly recovered,’ and that should settle it.”

Lin Yu wasn’t worried about whether Tycoon would get beaten too badly by the Sixth Island’s Lord. After all, it was only a ”trial,” and the Sixth Island’s Lord surely knew her limits.

Moreover, this was a Fourth Tier after all.

The people on that island were nearly the top echelon among Players. Even if he ended up a bit bedraggled, there was no way he would actually perish on that island.

And besides...

Though Lin Yu hadn’t said it openly, he had never claimed this trial was ”fair.”

That final burst of psychic energy seemed like an attack, but was actually a signal sent to the Sixth Island’s Lord. Although the Players present had noticed this at the time, they still hadn’t realized that the psychic energy carrying ”killing intent” communicated far more than simply telling the Sixth Island’s Lord to come to their location.

Within it...

As the target of that psychic energy, the Sixth Island’s Lord surely sensed it. Though the ”killing intent” within the psychic energy marked everyone, the ”concentration” had subtle variations.

The killing intent directed at Order’s side was ”lighter.”

And the killing intent directed at the Psychological Society’s side was naturally more intense.

The Sixth Island’s Lord was a very clever individual, so Lin Yu was quite certain...

Once the fighting started, she would definitely strike harder against the Psychological Society’s people.

With one side weakening and the other growing stronger...

Tycoon would naturally receive less ”attention.”

Thinking of this, Lin Yu casually pulled out Old Zheng, who hadn’t been brought out much while on the Sixth Island.

Even on the few occasions he had been taken out, Old Zheng had been completely too scared to stir, too scared to reveal even the slightest psychic energy fluctuation.

Clearly... he really was somewhat afraid of being discovered by the Sixth Island’s Lord!

Now, upon being brought out, Old Zheng, who had been suppressed for so long, finally burst forth with radiance.

”Ho ho ho, we’re finally back!”

”Home is best after all. I love this world. Ah, so familiar. Earthlings ought to stay on Earth.”

”Oh! Boss, you got my Pendant and those other items. They suit you quite well! The Triple Scoop Ice Cream can be taken out for a bite now. That thing is fine to eat any time, because one of its super badass features is that the psychic energy it adds has nothing to do with your limit. You know what I mean? Even if your psychic energy is full, eating it still adds an extra reserve of psychic energy. And it’s delicious!”

”I can teach you all sorts of tips and tricks for using items. These are all my core items!”

Old Zheng chattered on, and Lin Yu cut him off.

”We’ll talk about all that later when there’s time. We’re not on the Sixth Island now, so I have a few things to ask you.”

What he was anxious to clarify now was obviously not matters related to Old Zheng’s ”inheritance.”

Old Zheng flickered rapidly twice: ”What’s up? The usage of your Exclusive Item? That ’Hypnosis Seed’ really does have a lot of tricks to it when you operate it. Even I haven’t fully developed it, but...”

Lin Yu interrupted him: ”Obviously that’s not what I mean. It’s about you and the Sixth Island’s Lord. You two are still hiding something from me!”

Old Zheng hurriedly said: ”Boss, why are you so gossipy... I really don’t have anything else going on. This kind of thing is embarrassing enough as it is. At most, I just didn’t explain some details clearly... But please, really don’t ask. Don’t I have any shame, boss?!”

Lin Yu shook his head: ”Don’t play dumb with me. That Sixth Island’s Lord, or should I say ’Princess White Moon,’ what exactly is her background?”

Old Zheng’s tone shifted slightly, and the light from his mind actually changed color, its saturation noticeably higher: ”Boss, how do you know that name?”

”A reward from the system, the Map privilege. The place where she lives now is called ’Princess White Moon Church.’ I haven’t opened it yet, but reaching Third Tier is only a matter of time for me, so we’ll have plenty of chances to meet her in the future.”

Lin Yu said calmly.

”...This Death Game has gone private placement on us. There’s giving rewards like this?!”

Old Zheng fell silent for a long time before saying indignantly.

He knew Lin Yu wasn’t bluffing or posturing.

Although his boss often used such tactics, the moment the words ”Princess White Moon” came out, Old Zheng knew the other party wasn’t joking.

Lin Yu was quite intrigued: ”So, you won the heart of a princess?”

Old Zheng muttered: ”Yeah, but princesses weren’t particularly rare in the Misty Islands’ ancient civilization... The political system of the Misty Islands’ ancient civilization wasn’t an empire, it was a united kingdom. As long as they were the daughters of rulers of kingdom or duchy regions, they were all called princesses.”

”I see. Even so, that still makes her nobility. Tsk tsk, and you were just complaining about Furbollo and his undying night earlier. The two of you are about the same,” Lin Yu reflected. ”But then again... this also explains why she, as an ’island lord,’ commands the wariness of three Fourth Tiers.”

”She probably isn’t a Chosen One, but when Lacan, Tycoon, and Bi Fang, those three Fourth Tiers, saw her arrive on scene, they all acted as if facing a great enemy.”

Lin Yu had assumed she was at most on par with the Diving Merchant Morse. Even accounting for home-field advantage, she shouldn’t have made three Fourth Tiers feel she was troublesome to deal with.

Hearing this, Old Zheng sighed with emotion: ”Boss, she isn’t just a case of home-field advantage... I can’t disclose the specifics, but you only need to know that she’s now almost on par with those super-strong ’Chosen Ones,’ like that octopus’s uncle or the Sleepless Night Family Head.”

”Converting that to Players, for someone to go one-on-one with her in the ruins on the Sixth Island, they’d have to be at least top ten on the leaderboard.”

Lin Yu raised an eyebrow: ”That impressive? Then you’d better elaborate.”

”Otherwise... the first thing I do after unlocking the Map privilege will be to send you off for a political marriage.”

Old Zheng’s expression shifted slightly, sensing the seriousness in Lin Yu’s tone, and said:

”Boss, you’ve really got me by my weak spot!”

”Fine... in short, I did conceal it deliberately... because the matter of her being this strong...”

Having resolved to reveal it, Old Zheng’s tone carried a hint of pride: ”Actually, it has to do with me.”
