Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

”Rengu?”

Hearing this name, Lin Yu immediately recalled the corresponding information from his mind. Regional Director of the Southern China district for Order, Class being ”Official”!

The other party was much younger than Lin Yu had imagined. Although dressed somewhat old-fashionably and indeed looking very much like an official, he didn’t seem much older than Lin Yu himself. Order had actually sent him as reinforcement this time—Lin Yu had originally assumed they would only dispatch a Tycoon!

And... he had apparently arrived long ago.

Facing Tycoon’s somewhat complaining tone, Rengu stood inside the glass enclosure, responding with some apology in his voice.

”Sorry, Boss He, I wanted to observe the situation first... After all, in my view, it didn’t seem like the moment had arrived where I absolutely had to make a move.”

Rengu spoke while walking out from that containment cell, seemingly completely unaware that glass existed at all. The moment his body was about to touch the glass, ripples like water waves spread across his form—and then, he simply walked right through the glass.

After entering the room, Rengu stood still beside Tycoon.

Nineteen squinted his eyes: ”Hmph... so it’s this guy who showed up. A bit troublesome.”

”But still, overall we maintain the advantage, right? Dolantine and I should be able to handle this guy from Southern China. Teacher Lacan, how about you take on the Tycoon?”

”Even if the Night Watchmen send another one... one of Bi Fang or Chongming, Teacher Wundt told me you guys would also send an S-rank, so we can still match them.”

”No matter how you calculate it, we win.”

Lacan nodded: ”What you say isn’t wrong... it’s just that determining victory that way would take far too long. The God of the Misty Islands is not so easy to deal with, and even just this island’s lord herself, I’m not keen on offending.”

”Moreover, Nineteen, I think you’ve overlooked one thing,” Lacan said tactfully. ”The Tycoon is from Jiangcheng.”

Then, he pointed at the screen overhead: ”And there’s a screen here that suddenly went dark for no reason... which makes me quite uncomfortable.”

As Lacan spoke, Nineteen froze for a moment, then let out a breath: ”Are you talking about the Game Master? I’ve never even seen that guy make a move... it’s probably just Order making a show of it, rumors passing as truth!”

”No, no, you must be careful of that one,” Lacan insisted stubbornly. ”Haven’t the Diviner told you about that?”

”Brother Zhan did mention it, I know that guy exists, but Brother Zhan also said that guy’s restraints and limitations are greater than all other players combined,” Nineteen waved his hand dismissively. ”So... there’s nothing much to fear, right?”

”That’s when there’s no ’equipment’ involved. With a screen this big present, things are different,” Lacan raised his head, looking at the screen. ”Granted, she cannot act... but... we must prepare for the worst-case scenario.”

While the two were arguing, Rengu also spoke calmly: ”So it seems, Lacan, that you don’t want to fight us to the bitter end after all.”

”We originally came for what the first-generation Freud left behind, and that thing was meant for us anyway,” Lacan said while adjusting his coat collar. ”If possible, of course I don’t want to dispute...”

Rengu nodded: ”Since you say so... ’Both parties hold no objections to dispute, I believe the conflict occurring here can be fully reconciled, and both parties should maintain reason and restraint,’ do you concur?”

As he spoke, the weight of the latter half of his sentence increased, as if broadcast through an intercom.

Nineteen frowned, but Lacan pondered briefly before speaking first: ”I concur.”

Meanwhile, Tycoon beside Rengu furrowed his brows slightly: ”Brother Rengu, you know, regarding Lacan, I...”

”There will be opportunities for that, but now is not the time,” Rengu said in a low voice. ”I know you can’t let go of those who died, but right now... don’t forget, there’s still someone who can be saved—the sooner this ends, the better!”

He looked at the ”Old Yao” on the ground whose breathing was faint, whose vital signs had stabilized considerably yet remained precarious, and said with a serious expression: ”Unnecessary casualties—ideally, there should be none at all.”

Tycoon’s expression turned solemn, and he finally snapped fully back to clarity.

”You’re right...”

Rengu then looked at Lacan again, speaking once more in that solemn tone laced with natural reverb.

”’Based on the principles of calmness, restraint, and conflict avoidance, I declare that the use of Heart Domains is forbidden in this location.’”

As the words fell, the Heart Domains on both Tycoon and Lacan vanished completely—the green numbers surrounding Tycoon and the black eyes beside Lacan both disappeared.

Hearing what Rengu had said and feeling the changes around him, Lin Yu, lying on the ground, nearly jolted upright in shock.

Originally, he hadn’t been entirely clear on Rengu’s strength—although he’d heard that this ”rule-maker” had kicked the people from the three major organizations out of all the ”offline gatherings” hosted by Order, that wasn’t necessarily a direct combat ability. It was entirely possible that he’d received support from the entirety of Order, with his ”ability” merely serving as the final conduit to achieve the result.

But looking at it now...

Rengu might not have received any assistance at all.

After all...

Even though he’d laid considerable groundwork and even seemed to have a step requiring ”securing Lacan’s consent.”

Rengu had shut down two Fourth Tier Heart Domains with a single sentence?!

What kind of level was that!

What’s more...

Rengu’s words weren’t finished.

”Additionally, the use of Exclusive Items is forbidden in this location.”

As his words fell again, this time even the gray panel behind Nineteen disappeared.

Also disappearing was Tycoon’s Piggy Bank—after all, as a derivative of his Exclusive Item, it was evidently also considered an Exclusive Item.

And the one most affected was none other than Dolantine—her body underwent drastic changes, reverting to her usual frail appearance with pale skin, hair, and complexion.

”I’ll fucking—huh? No side effects either?”

Dolantine was about to curse angrily, but then seemed to sense something, and uncharacteristically swallowed her insults.

”This rule is quite fair, not discriminating between friend and foe at all—this might be a form of limitation as well.”

Lin Yu muttered inwardly.

However, Lin Yu was now feeling quite uneasy in his heart.

Third Tier and Fourth Tier abilities had already been banned. What if they eventually banned Second Tier or even First Tier?

Not that banning First Tier would matter—after all, Lin Yu understood the principles of False Face. The transformation was complete rather than a mere disguise—he’d simply be temporarily unable to shift from Old Yao into someone else, not get ”reverted to his true form” like Dolantine.

But banning Second Tier would truly be a problem!

He’d still need his Second Tier item later.

Fortunately, though...

Rengu didn’t continue banning further—after announcing those two rules, he seemed completely drained, becoming extremely listless and drowsy, no longer continuing to activate his ability.
