Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Even though Lin Yu had been frozen in place, seemingly unable to move any longer, Nineteen didn’t slow down in the slightest.

After all...

Lin Yu knew he had come out to buy time, and Nineteen could probably guess what the other side was thinking.

Once those guys on the same level as himself entered the fray, he wouldn’t have time to deal with these rats.

So...

Nineteen moved like a ghost, closing the distance to Lin Yu in an instant, then raised his hand and slashed his long blade toward the other’s head.

But...

”Swish!”

The long blade cut through empty air once again.

”Crack!”

A crisp sound rang out, and Nineteen stared in surprise at the spot where his opponent had just stood-the figure had vanished once more.

But he quickly located where the other party was now.

Not far away from him, his two feet were drenched in blood and covered with burn marks.

”What a remarkable decision, choosing to burn your own legs just to forcibly pull yourself free,” Nineteen said, looking at that thin, frail figure with genuine praise in his voice. ”Seems like... you’re not just worthy of praise for hiding and running.”

”Even if you’re a rat in the gutter, you’re still the king of rats.”

Warm blood dripped onto the ground, continuously congealing into dark red frozen blood.

Lin Yu stared at Nineteen and said in a low voice, ”Then you don’t understand rats at all. A rat whose tail is caught will bite off its own tail to escape-that’s just everyday business. You don’t need to be the ’king of rats’ to do that...”

”Who knows. I don’t understand, and I don’t care,” Nineteen said as he lunged forward, only to see his opponent immediately shift positions again. ”Ha, looks like even [Falling Star Freeze] can’t do much to you... but this is where it ends.”

As he spoke, Nineteen took out another bottle of what looked like a very high-grade gray potion.

”Anyway, I’d have to use it sooner or later when the fighting starts... Might as well open it early.”

”Smack!”

He crushed the crystal bottle, and the gray liquid inside didn’t drip down but instead merged into his body.

Then...

A violent surge of mana erupted from Nineteen’s body, though it wasn’t the same as the mana system of Night Valley.

It was more like the Pure Abyss system spells used by that ’Chris’ he had encountered before.

”BOOM!”

Nineteen raised his hand, and Lin Yu instantly felt as though he had been struck in the chest by a cannonball.

”BANG!”

He flew backward, then slammed heavily into a glass wall.

Nineteen watched this scene coldly.

In his view, this ’Old Yao’ was more like a cockroach than a rat.

Not only did he run fast and hide well, but his vitality was also incredibly tenacious.

But... this was where it ended.

He hadn’t held back at all just now.

The Pure Abyss’s [Sea Eye Cauldron] combined with [Character Editor] to max out cooldown time and mana at all times, plus the various potion-brewing techniques he had learned in Night Valley and Pure Abyss, gave Nineteen a unique ”potion-chugging, potion-throwing combat system” of his own.

This was also why he could so effectively hide his true strength. Besides [Character Editor]’s ability to freely adjust his own stats and [Item] strength, the various ”potions” he primarily relied on also came in different qualities.

”Potions” could be divided into four grades based on quality, and Nineteen had abundant reserves of each grade.

Depending on the grade of potion he used, the strength he displayed naturally differed.

And [Falling Star Freeze] and [Storm Edict]... were both undeniably ”Grade Four” potions.

The effect of [Falling Star Freeze] was already quite obvious-it only took a single drop to freeze a space roughly the size of a stadium.

As for [Storm Edict]... it granted Nineteen the ability to manipulate ”storms” to a certain degree.

If he output at full power now, he could create tornadoes that rivaled the most ferocious ones in the ’Land of Certain Death’ arena!

The attack just now might have looked like a casual swing, but it had actually condensed a massive amount of storm power into a single point-an attack like that was enough to crush every bone in an ordinary person’s body.

Against this ’First-Tier’ punk, it was definitely more than enough.

Looking at that thin, dark, short man on the ground spitting up blood, Nineteen knew...

This guy was beyond saving.

”You came out to draw my attention, didn’t you? Where are the others hiding? Tell me, and I’ll give you a quick death!”

Nineteen said this, but Lin Yu on the ground remained silent.

He just took a few rapid breaths...

Then suddenly, with a carp-leap motion, he sprang up and started running again!

He was even faster than before.

This startled Nineteen.

”Still has strength left? A dying flash?”

”Or is it... some kind of lifesaving [Item] that only activates when on the verge of death?”

Nineteen looked at the fleeing figure with some surprise, but quickly shook his head.

No matter. After taking [Storm Edict], that kind of attack wasn’t hard for him to replicate anyway.

No matter how fast the other side was, they couldn’t outrun the wind!

He raised his hand again, and the air currents in the vicinity surged violently toward his opponent, then slammed him down against the wall.

”Ugh!”

Another gush of blood spewed out, and Nineteen let out a sigh.

”Give up resisting. Don’t cause yourself unnecessary suffering... Even if you’re unwilling to betray your companions, at least stop trying to run.”

He advised from the bottom of his heart, watching the other party lying on the ground at death’s door, even feeling a hint of sympathy.

This was the price of ”weakness”!

But...

Just two seconds later, just as Nineteen was about to look away, the other party bounced up again and started scrambling toward the door.

”A cockroach indeed!”

Nineteen laughed in spite of himself. This time he raised both hands and shoved them forward fiercely.

”WHAM!”

The raging wind converged, condensing into an invisible heavy hammer that came crashing down, pinning him firmly in place.

This time, fresh red blood oozed from every part of his body, staining the pure white frozen ground with a patch of vivid crimson-like an elegant dessert in a high-end restaurant, delicate strawberry jam drizzled over shaved ice on a smooth, gleaming white porcelain plate.

”Damn, looks like I hit a bit too hard...”

Nineteen looked at the other party’s miserable state with some surprise.

Strictly speaking, he should have spared his life... after all, he still needed to interrogate him about where the others were.

But...

If he died, he died.

Just as Nineteen was thinking this, he saw that among the pool of blood over there...

That ”Old Yao” wobbled and stood up again.

What’s more, he looked straight at Nineteen and spat out a mouthful of bloody phlegm.

Like he was mocking him-then he ran toward the door once again.

”Are you kidding me...”

This time, Nineteen was genuinely getting annoyed.

Had he been playing the rookie for so long that he’d actually become one?

How could he not even finish off a ’First-Tier’ guy!

Although he could already tell the other party was deliberately provoking him to stall for time, Nineteen had to admit...

”Fine, your tactic worked!”

”BOOM!”

The nearly solid gale came crashing down, slamming him into the ground once again.

”BANG! BANG! BANG!”

The violent attacks rained down relentlessly, cracking the frost-covered ground. Blood seeped into the ice fractures, then froze again, forming a magnificent web of crimson cracks.

”You should be dead by now!”

Nineteen growled.

And just as he raised his hand to crush his opponent’s body with the wind once more...

”Clink-clink-clink...”

A sound like coins falling into a bag rang out.

The hairs on the back of Nineteen’s neck stood on end, and then he heard a middle-aged man’s furious voice echoing from above.

”Marauder piece of shit, I’ll fucking end you!”

The next moment, a truly invisible giant hand descended from the sky, dispersing the frantic storm and sending Nineteen flying back several meters!

The Tycoon in his blue suit, stepping on a golden lucky-cat coin bank, descended from the heavens!
