Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

With a complete set of dynamic, real-time three-dimensional maps, Fu Luo quickly planned out a correct route of advancement.

”Look at this place... compared to the other buildings, its floor height and footprint are relatively large. And although its current position seems to be on the right side of this entire ’compound,’ the right side has a large amount of collapsed ruins. So I deduce that many buildings on the right have already collapsed. And on the complete version of this compound’s map... there should be many more buildings on the right.”

”So, in reality, this building should be the center of the compound.”

”The most centrally located, the largest in area. Therefore, I believe this building should be the most important ’main building’ here.”

”Whether it’s the ’sculpture’ or the ’inheritance,’ there’s a high probability both are hidden inside there.”

Fu Luo analyzed the map on the screen, his reasoning clear and well-organized.

This analysis also convinced everyone.

”Alright, let’s head straight for that main building,” King Vulture nodded and said. ”But the route needs to be chosen carefully... Those guards earlier were troublesome enough. I don’t want to go through that again!”

”Of course,” Fu Luo said. ”I’ll definitely prioritize avoiding combat as well.”

Lin Yu smiled and spoke up: ”Don’t worry... even if we encounter something we can’t avoid, I’ll help out.”

”I might not be able to fight, but there’s always a way to dodge.”

Fu Luo nodded: ”You really do have some tricks up your sleeve — let’s go, time to move out.”

Kitty was a bit surprised: ”Didn’t we say we needed to design the route more?”

After all, Fu Luo hadn’t been studying the map on that screen for very long at all.

”Ha, I already designed it long ago,” Fu Luo said smugly. ”Don’t worry, I’m not one for head-on combat either. From the very start, I planned the route with ’avoid fighting as much as possible’ as the premise.”

Lin Yu mused: ”But... Furbollo, isn’t this a bit too hasty?”

”With a map available, how much time does planning a route even take?” Fu Luo tapped the screen. ”Don’t worry — trust me. From here on out, we won’t encounter a single guard!”

Since Fu Luo said so, no one else could really object. Everyone quickly resumed their journey.

The three walked out of the empty research institute and advanced along the route Fu Luo had planned.

They slipped out through the back door and walked into a metal corridor between two buildings.

Just as Fu Luo had predicted, this corridor was empty — no wandering guards, and even rarely, no security measures. After all, according to the map’s markers, this was a fast passage.

These passages had privilege recognition at their entrances and exits. Researchers below a certain level couldn’t use them, so naturally, no security measures were needed inside.

It was just that after the disaster, the recognition system here had been damaged, and even the entire corridor had stopped functioning. Instead, it became a blind spot in the security system.

”Sure enough, this road is completely safe all the way— ah!”

Fu Luo, walking at the very front, suddenly let out a miserable scream. His whole body convulsed, his hair standing on end and even pushing his hat up.

King Vulture’s expression sharpened as she reacted: ”He got electrocuted, everyone be careful!”

Although the map didn’t show any security measures here... the map also didn’t indicate that this road was leaking electricity.

Because as a fast passage, its original acceleration principle relied on electromagnetic fields driving metal conveyor belts.

But now that it was damaged, it had become an electrified passage with built-in paralysis traps!

”Bang!”

Kitty swung a wooden cane and knocked Fu Luo to the ground.

Lin Yu stepped forward next, grabbing Fu Luo by the hem of his pants and dragging him back.

And this was only the beginning...

Then, the entire passage emitted a sharp screeching sound.

”Damn it, this passage originally had only a minor malfunction, but that electric shock Furbollo just took caused it to short-circuit completely,” Lin Yu said with a grave expression. ”The entire passage might become electrified from here on... and it might even explode!”

”Then what do we do!”

King Vulture said with a frown.

Fu Luo on the ground had recovered somewhat. Rubbing his calf, he spoke up: ”We can’t go forward. The electromagnetic field intensity there is too high, completely impossible to cross!”

Kitty’s face also turned pale: ”We’re not really going to fall here in a place like this, are we?”

”Of course not,” Lin Yu said as a silver light flickered on his finger. ”Leave it to me... These fast passages were as common in the ancient Misty Islands as our subway systems, so I happened to have seen materials about them... These things also have maintenance passages.”

He ran his finger across the wall, his expression serious.

The [Implanted Single-Finger Living Silver Prosthetic] naturally had no function for locating maintenance passage entrances. Lin Yu was currently using his mental energy to quietly inject it into the wall — but he had to make it look like he was relying on this [item].

Soon, a delighted expression appeared on Lin Yu’s face.

”Right here!”

He then used his body to block the metal wall, pretending to be picking the lock himself. In reality, he had felt the hidden maintenance passage gap and forcefully yanked it outward with all his strength.

”Bang!”

The narrow maintenance passage appeared before the players. Lin Yu slipped inside in a flash.

”Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!”

Electric sparks were already crackling throughout the corridor, and everyone’s hair had started to float up.

But in the nick of time, everyone still managed to dive into the maintenance passage!

”Crack!”

Behind them, electric light continued to burst within the corridor, like the inside of a thunderstorm cloud.

Fortunately... this maintenance passage had clearly been designed with this kind of malfunction in mind. Its interior was completely insulated.

King Vulture looked at the scene outside, speaking with lingering fear: ”Even if we survived that, we’d be skinned alive... It seems we still can’t completely trust this map!”

Fu Luo also spoke up apologetically: ”Indeed... but other routes should only be more dangerous. Let’s continue to be careful from here on — and thank goodness for Old Yao!”

Kitty also nodded: ”That’s right... We owe our lives to you this time, Mr. Yao... I suppose this is the ’good karma’ of us not abandoning our teammate.”

”We’ll have to rely on you a lot more from here.”

King Vulture also said solemnly, clearly having already acknowledged ”Old Yao’s” abilities.

Although he wasn’t good at fighting... this guy really did have some real skills when it came to escaping, surviving, and handling crises.

As the three spoke, Lin Yu waved his hand: ”No need to say things like that...”

”Besides, it’s better if nothing unexpected happens from here on.”

Fu Luo nodded: ”Don’t worry, Old Yao — I won’t let my guard down again from here. I’ll go into full power mode and seriously detect every hidden danger!”

”Let’s go! We’re moving out again!”

He said, then walked along the maintenance passage and out of the fast passage.

Then...

Everyone continued advancing along the route Fu Luo had planned.

And they hadn’t gone far when...

”Beep —! Intruder locked on!”

”Damn it all, how are there two turrets here?!”

”Everyone, hit the deck!”
