ShangriLa Frontier ~ Shitty Games Hunter Challenges Godly Game ~

Tsk, does that mean that at the current moment I lack what is required to clear this mini-event? I know that my affection level with that particular character is really high, but this must mean that it is the sort of conflict where words alone are not nearly enough to convince her, huh? So, we need some sort of physical evidence that will give Sigma that one final push she so desperately needs. Perhaps something left by the doctor Andrew Jitter Doll? Something that can be found inside of his laboratory on the eighth floor? Whatever this thing may be, I need a solid proof that Conquest Dolls possess personalities of their own and that they are not merely tools to be used by someone else.

「No, you see, it’s not a bad thing to have doubts and to be unsure of what to do. It’s a privilege of the Intelligent creatures to worry about their own well-being and the future, you just can’t let that worry to bring you down so much that you won’t be able to do anything anymore out of fear. But worry all that you want, within reason of course, and there will come a time when you will finally be able to arrive at the answer that you are seeking so desperately.」

For the time being, the metal dilemmas that are peculiar to unique or exceptionally strong characters is a staple that you are always going to stumble across with high probability for as long as you continue to play video games. Especially when those games are heavily story-driven. But oh well, sometimes you might reach a conclusion pretty early on, but without the insight of the story events down the line that truth might be all but obscure to you. So in order for you to understand anything, you must progress the events and let them progress with their natural flow.

Yes, I know that this is really annoying, but it can also be pretty annoying when the player who has the way broader view of the world and its affairs try to assume that the whole world and its NPCs are going to be the same way for reasons whatever.

What was the worst kind of game where that precise attitude could bite you in the ass? Probably the one in which a masked enemy character (the Hero’s father, no matter how the you change the shape of the beard that grew from the exposed lower jaw, you are not fooling anyone here) continued to say until the very last chapter of the story: “I can’t reveal my true identity yet. The time is not right.” Was there really anyone who did not figure this out and was genuinely wondering who that someone was supposed to be? I bet that there were people like that around, even though it was something so completely obvious that it was impossible to not arrive at the right conclusion!

Ah, I remember now! “The Rondo of God, Sword, and the Dragon”. That was the official name of the game and the abbreviation of it was “Kamikendra”. It was a title that was so hardcore in its shitiness that the newbies were recommended to stay away from it for their own good. Or the good of their sanity.

It was an irresistible shitty game where every single aspect of it was plain old boring, but immediately after the president of the company behind it changed, the producer who wanted to appear on the front pages of newspapers and be the star of the Internet was dismissed, and then the good effort was finally being put into patches and fixes that were coming out almost on a daily basis…… Yeah, it was that kind of a title.

When I heard that the dismissed producer would release a new game at another game company, I was excitedly waiting for the fruit of his labor alongside Takeda-san and people in the same shitty games circle…… Oh no! Stop! Stop doing that! Stop reminiscing about the past! Have more pressing matters to attend to right now!

「Look, for the time being…… Hm?」

Ohh! If it isn’t Rei-san and Akitsu Akane! I was wondering if they managed to safely clear the obstacle course, and……There is also the Professor here? And some other player whose name is totally unknown to me? What’s that name? “Shojou Bansai”……? Whoa there!

「Oh, Sanraku-ku…… I mean, -san.」

「Oh? I guess we should expect that you will be way ahead of the curve when it comes to things like that.」

「I’m glad to see you too, Professor. As for what this thing here is all about, it’s as you can see: a written exam. So I guess that Library should feel right at home about this thing.」

「–––––– That’s wonderful news! Well, I’m an archaeologist by hobby, so I guess that the Behemoth’s field of interest might actually be a little bit outside of my jurisdiction, but I won’t certainly refuse an academic challenge quite like that. So let’s enjoy ourselves to the fullest here!」

「No, no, no! You have it all wrong, Professor! Listen here, if you are a member of a Medic School, then you don’t want to see a medical knowledge tests inside of a game that you are playing…… Oh well, but I would lie if I were to say that I do not find it a little bit interesting myself. In Science Fiction, where the academic field is much more evolved, I wonder if you are leaning towards surgeries or maybe internal medicines more……? No, seriously, I really do wonder about that. And seeing how recovery potions can take care of even open wounds, I wonder if surgeries are completely obsolete in this world at this point in time?

Questions that need answers for later.

「I wouldn’t be surprised if the use of nano-machines surgery was all the rage in this setting. It would be surprisingly fitting, judging by everything that we have seen so far.」

「Yeah, that’s the spirit, Professor! In this world of brilliant cutting-edge technology, everything less than the nano-machines can be considered old school and obsolete! But in all seriousness, I do believe that even though recovery potions can do so much, there are things with which surgery is simply irreplaceable.」

Nano-machines, son.

「Or maybe it’s just a matter of sensitivity? Or the complexity of the treatment that is in order? I can totally see that coming.」

「In the end, it wouldn’t make much sense to put a scalpel in your body, what’s the difference between organic nanomachines and bacteria that you can’t completely control?」

「It’s rare for the younger generation to be able to dissect someone or something without making a scene about it.」

「A healthy body doesn’t have bugs in it.」

Oops, what was that supposed to be? A highly educated punch? I wonder if it has a strange defensive penetration effect? It certainly sounded weird…… Where was it even aimed? At my stomach? Or was it supposed to deal psychological damage?

「What is even a nano-machine surgery?」

「You basically inject small machines that are invisible to the naked eye into the body of the patient and let the machines to heal the patient from within.」

「W-Well, that explanation is a little bit…… I mean, it’s pretty accurate, but still……」

It’s not about human education, it’s about how easy it is to convey.

In addition, I was able to hear an overview of the insanely easy-to-understand nano-machine surgery by that whole Shoujo Bansai player, who listened to our chat. What should I do, this person is too strong, in a whole other sense than the rest of us…… Not to mention their naming sense!
