ShangriLa Frontier ~ Shitty Games Hunter Challenges Godly Game ~

Somehow, even though we go to school together every day and I know that it’s real…… Seeing Rei-san like that inside of a game really feels kind of strange.

Maybe it’s because of the rather radical design of that women version of the armor that she was currently wearing, unusually shaped armor for women’s equipment is a little radical design? Or maybe it’s because she is still wearing that strange mask-helmet with that one eye that constantly keeps on glaring at me in a rather nasty way…… Yeah, it would probably be because of that……

Unlike when she was equipped with a male version of the armor, which was shaped like an unknown carnivorous creature, it’s kind of like something that now mimics a ghostly skinned human……

There is also a strange feeling of tension because the eyes of a monster with about three pupils in the eyeball clearly look at me regardless of Rei-san’s intentions. And I won’t lie, it creeps me out to no end!

「…… Umm.」

「Huh!? What is it?」

「Umm, I knew it…… It certainly must look strange, isn’t it?」

「No! No, no, no! I does not! It does not look strange at all! So don’t worry about it!」

No worries, Rei-san! More than anything, I am concerned about that blasted spinning eye that won’t stop looking at me!

As we walked down the first floor, where the number of people was reduced compared to other places, we started to notice that the Players were all gathering in one place. Or rather we arrived at some place that was most probably supposed to be our destination.

「There! Go! Right there!」

「Ahh! They fell down!」

「And they were having such a good run up until this point!」

「Alright, who will go next?」

「Just leave it to me!」

「No, dude, listen…… I think that this is not a job for a Tank……」

「That’s not always the case. Things like that can usually be tackled in multitude of ways. After all, it must be made in such a way that not only the lightweight warriors are able to clear it.」

「No, with all due respect, you need both Agility and Dexterity for this. Without those, you don’t even have to try.」

「Unless you have them both at around twenty or so, it is going to be a real Counter Stop.」

「Let’s observe a few more players. Maybe we will come up with a strategy after witnessing their attempts.」

My frank impression here is: “What the hell are you guys even doing?

Hmm, I wonder…… I do realize that they are watching other players who challenge mysterious athletics course, looking at it like a 2D side-scrolling action game, but such a thing would have been funny inside of a Leviathan, and not inside of this Behemoth.

「Seriously, what the hell?」

「Ah, Tsuchinoko-san…… Whoa there, did you…… Did you grew bigger? Or is that my imagination?」

「This is basically a new version of me, one that is more adept at grappling.」

「H-Huh…… I-Is that so……?」

Hmm, that’s strange, I thought that this character makeup would get more attention from everyone else. But what was that “Well, if you say so?” attitude just now? And why do I even care about that stuff in the first place!?

「So? Care to tell us what is it tha you are going to do now, Exploding Green Peas Sis?」

「Just to let you know, I am an only child! And after I manage to clear this obstacle course, it means that I can safely go to the next level, is that it?」

「…… Say, “Ivory”? When did Behemoth became an amusement park? Because I must have missed that fact.」

「THE PURPOSE OF THE TESTS ON EACH LEVEL IS TO TEST THE PLAYERS AND VARIOUS ASPECTS OF THEIR BEINGS. THIS PARTICULAR ONE TESTS BASIC INTELLIGENCE AND MOTOR FUNCTIONS.」

「Okay, I see. So I need to change the question: how easy it will be to clear this particular test?」

It’s better to just ask about that than act without knowing anything…… Unlike certain “people” here. But I won’t say anything for now.

As far as I can see this, it seems that you should reach the innermost door through a straight road, but there are a lot of traps or obstacles along the way. Of course they are. Why wouldn’t there be?

「Let’s see…… Thorns? Lasers? Doors? Pendulum blades?」

「This place is so futuristic, but those traps surely give you a retro feeling, don’t you think?」

「Hmm, yeah……」

Ah, so it behaves like any other thing in any other game…… No, the fact that the laser is passing through the body of the players without actually collapsing them, isn’t it? But can that player go by the pendulum only after having a look at them for a mere moment? Oh, they got killed. What a shame.

…… How do we go about this thing? Are we taking turns? Or do we propose that it should be our turn next? As far as I can see it, it seems that everyone is looking for a strategy by looking at the starting lineup on everyone else’s turns.

「Oh, I see, I see, I get it…… Say, “Ivory”? This test is bound to be considered as cleared once you arrive in front of that door over there, right? Or maybe there are some additional conditions about which you are forgetting to tell us?」

「NO, THERE ARE NONE HIDDEN ONDITIONS WHATSOEVER. THIS TEST IS SUPPOSED TO JUST CHECK YOUR BASIC INTELLIGENCE AND ATHLETIC ABILITIES.」

I don’t think that she is necessarily messing with us, but at the same time…… Hm?

「…… Umm, can I go next, please?」

「Ooohh, Tsuchinoko-san? Are you finally going to give this obstacle course a go yourself?」

「After all, I am the Player who has the title of the Fastest One around these parts!」

「Well, certainly you are modest about that fact, huh?」

I can directly feel that the head equipment Emul is trembling like crazy, but then I tap onto him lightly to make him feel at ease. As you can see, this death road is probably the type that operates on some sort of a gimmick at the moment when the player crosses a specific line. That is, it does not start unless you step onto it directly…… Or at the very least I was hoping that it was working that way. It would seriously suck if it suddenly started to act up from something completely unexpected.
