”That was a nice gift and all, but why now, out of nowhere?” I asked. ”We already had dinner and all…”

”Ah yeah, I know, sorry, I just got a bit… well nostalgic maybe,” he said. ”I also thought about your safety, I wanted to give you some accessories so you could be better protected! That Noah guy, I want him dead, but first I need to find out who he is or what he is… If youʼll insist on still going to that school, then the bare minimum is providing more protection to you.”

”Aaah, so thatʼs why…” I nodded. ”Well, Iʼm pretty strong though! I survived against that chump no problem.”

”Ah yes, I know youʼre strong, but youʼre still growing, Kireina! Many of your powers have yet to fully awaken as well, I can feel it by just giving you a glance,” he said.

Wait, can he?! What else do I need to awaken?

Wait a second, he can see through EVERYTHING?!

How is…

Ah, well, whatever.

”Really?” I asked.

”Of course! I suppose you havenʼt realized, although youʼve awakened many new abilities thanks to being my and your motherʼs daughter, thereʼs still a lot left to awaken within you.” He nodded. ”But thatʼll be through time, we are Eternal Beings after all, dear. Thereʼs no real reason to hurry up. Youʼll get there eventually. Iʼm happy I got someone thatʼll live as long as I do by my side…”

”Aaah, youʼre always so corny dad… You make me embarrassed!” I complained.

”Hahaha! Well, I suppose my little girl has grown up a lot!” He laughed. ”And… Hm, oh.”

He looked behind for a moment in silence.

”I have to go, thereʼs some news about something… Iʼve been investigating.”

”What is it?”

”Hm, I shouldnʼt tell you; these are just business as usual, family business.”

”…Nah, Iʼll go too.”

”Kireina, go to your bed! Itʼs like midnight!”

”Yeah but you woke me up, so itʼs your responsibility now.”

”…This girl.”

He facepalmed for a moment.

”Well, I suppose youʼre already around that age to get more involved with he family business and all… Though I never imagined you willing, dear. To most, we are criminals and bad people, really bad people. Are you sure you want to… do this? I can give you another life too, you can become an honest person… you donʼt have to get yourself involved with us, with this world.”

”Kind of late to say that daddy, I already got involved when I got attacked and all of that, donʼt you think? Also when I was a kid I constantly got attacked by assassins from other families…”

”Right, those bastards… Haaah… I wish I could give you a better life… I wish I could not be… a mons…”

”Dad?”

”Ah, no, nothing… If youʼre so willing, I canʼt really do much against it now, youʼre that stubborn of a girl, hahaha! Come on then, thisʼll be the first meeting youʼll join. As my daughter, youʼre also the heir to all of this, the Chaos Gate.”

We walked down the corridors of our huge Japanese-styled manor, reaching the underground area, and walking down the black stairs.

While we moved, I gently caressed the necklace, somehow feeling at ease by doing so, images of my mother from this world appearing in my mind.

Itʼs strange… it is as if this necklace contains her ”essence”, perhaps because she was a Sorcerer or a Seer, she somehow imbued her magic power inside?

Maybe dad knows this too, and thatʼs why he gave it to me, so my motherʼs last memento can protect me.

Oh my gosh, Iʼm going to cry! This is too much for my little caterpillar heart.

”Welcome back, my lord, weʼre- Huh?”

As we reached the Dark Palace underground, a completely different space separated from the surface, with a long corridor of black marble walls, black and white floor, and gothic-like decorations, with a dim dark light illuminating the lugubrious corridors, someone greeted us, our head butler.

He was a tall, sharp-looking man, with a rather muscular complexion, serious black eyes, gray hair and also a small beard and mustache, he had the intimidating appearance of a seasoned cop or a soldier but was wearing a tight butler outfit that seemed to be about to tear up anytime he flexed his muscles.

”You must be surprised, Claus, this is my daughter, you usually donʼt work in the manor that much, so you two donʼt see each other that much, right?” My father asked.

”Ah, of course, how could I ever forget the young lady? It might have been some time, but I am glad youʼve joined your fatherʼs business!” He said, lowering his head. ”Surely, you must not remember me… As your father said, I am Claus, Head Butler.”

”Heʼs also my right-hand man,” dad said. ”Thereʼs nobody here I trust more than him.”

”Itʼs nice to meet you again, Claus! And yes I do remember you,” I nodded. ”Itʼs not like I am not acquittance with the rest of the… Uh ”family”, letʼs call it that.”

”Yes we are all a big family,” nodded dad. ”Come, dear. Claus, you too.”

”Yes, my lord.” Claus nodded.

We walked through the corridor, Claus did some small talk, speaking more about the business, and what I might have to learn here.

Dad came her urgently because apparently, there were some problems in some mission, thereʼs also news and more information about Mount Takao, a new and powerful Corrupted Domain we plan to raid soon, probably this week or at the beginning of the next one.

And lastly, thereʼs something going on in the city, something about a lot of new gangs not respecting the territories, there might be some new gang wars in the underworld, more dangerous than the normie gangs.

”And weʼre here, come in.”

He invited me inside a giant palace room, black and lugubrious, with only white tiles on the floor and some old-looking statues decorating the place.

My dad sat down over a small red throne, in front of him a round table made of black marble, where several other shadowy figures sat down, all of them overflowing with great power.

They were the real members of our organization, the strongest members…

The moment I got here, they all glared me with suspicious eyes…

”Ah, Iʼve decided to bring my daughter today, showing her the family business and all. I hope you donʼt mind, everyone.”

Everyone remained in silence for a moment, it really felt awkward…

Until…

”Aah! Itʼs the young lady! Would you look how much youʼve grown- Ouch, ouch…”

Suddenly, a beautiful sorceress ran to my side, with long purple hair, pointy ears and crimson eyes, wearing long black and purple magician robes, and with a purple tattoo resembling an eye in her forehead.
