Epic Of Caterpillar

Chapter 2636 - 2637: New Equipment

-----

Frank remained in silence, sighing, as he caressed the pelt of the bear. ”Yeah… Thank you. I always thought I was stupid or weak for having these feelings, I strived to… be more like those experienced warriors. That I had to let go of emotions, to become a killing machine, that maybe being like that would make things easier…”

”It might, but it would also slowly tear apart your own identity,” Michael said. ”Humans are flawed beings; your flaws is what make you what you are. Your fears, your insecurities, but also your strengths.”

”Michael…”

”One thing is knowing that you have a flaw but never working to fix it, and another is knowing you have a flaw, and working around it, trying to overcome it,” Michael said. ”Your emotions, however, are not flaws… as long as you hold them tightly in your heart, as long as you know youʼre a human being, and that you accept yourself as someone that feels… Then I believe you could one day face anything.”

”To accept myself, huh?” Frank smiled. ”Thank you… Well, weʼve gotten really chatty, I might as well take this… Iʼll make sure to use everything to honor this powerful beast.”

As Frank sighed in relief, he noticed he had leveled up.

Ding!

[You have defeated a powerful elemental beast: [Four-Armed Flame Tyrant Bear] x1!]

[You have earned a large quantity of EXP.]

[Level Up!]

[Level Up!]

[Level Up!]

[Your Level has increased from Level 0 to Level 3/150!]

[All of your Stats have increased.]

”Three levels with a single monster is really good, this one was definitely a mighty foe.”

”Yes, it was. Can you feel their soul somewhere?”

”Their souls? Uh…”

Frank tried to expand his senses and try to find it…

”Yeah, itʼs… over there.”

Frank looked to the side, noticing the bearʼs soul looking at its own corpse with confusion.

It was an animal at the end, so it didnʼt think of things too deeply even when dead.

If anything, it felt like it was at peace.

”Wait, if this is my world, just where would the souls go?”

”Yes, thatʼs a problem, your world has no system of reincarnation, so the souls will only wander until they either disappear or turn into Undead.”

”Oh, thatʼs not good…”

”To create even the most rudimentary reincarnation system would require a lot of effort… but I am also wondering where the souls came from if there isnʼt one for all the already existing monsters.”

”Hmmm… Maybe they come from outside?”

”Yes, I was thinking the same, this world may be connected to Earth, and it gets souls from there, and perhaps also Mana.”

”What do I need to make the reincarnation cycle though?”

”You would first need very high-quality divine grade materials, we would have to create a large Heaven Formation that will absorb the souls, clean them, and then send them back towards new life as it is born.”

”So thatʼs how it works?”

”Yes, the very action of reincarnating a soul also creates a ”leftover energy” from the souls being cleansed and ”processed”, this can become a passive source of Divine Power.”

”I had no idea! Is this how gods get power?”

”Some do, but not every single god can do this… But there are several Reincarnation Gods out there in the universe. Samsara comes to mind, a powerful Cosmic Deity that created many Reincarnation Gods, spreading them throughout the universe. They control the reincarnation cycle, seeking newly created worlds, or newly born worlds, and claiming them as their own. Then, they redirect this energy to their master Samsara, which makes him gain passive power over souls over time.”

”Thatʼs… incredible, I suppose? Itʼs hard to imagine…”

”He has a rather bad relationship with Father, however… Heʼs a very greedy deity, and someone that aims to usurp fatherʼs throne one day. Heʼs constantly aiming to gain the power of a Primordial like Father and become the Fourth of this Universe. Though so far, it hasnʼt worked… well, that was eons ago, I have no idea what has happened to him.”

”The more you talk about these cosmic things, the weirder I feel… I really canʼt imagine the whole scale of things. Letʼs keep things grounded for now, alright?”

”Ah, yes, my apologies… I suppose these conversations might be overwhelming and rather inconsequential for your everyday life, but Iʼve always believed that knowledge is power.”

”I guess youʼre not wrong… Oh, thereʼs dropped items.”

”Dropped items?”

Michael looked at the corpse of the bear, noticing some items appeared there out of nowhere.

”Oh? So this is the power of your System, it has incorporated the soul essence and mana of this creature and materialized it into objects… Wait, is the soul still there?”

”No… itʼs gone.”

”It must have been converted into items and then disappeared.”

”Wait, did the soul died?”

”No, when a soul disappears, it simply returns to its purest form, Mana and Essence. These two energies make all of creation, they have simply returned to the pillars of your world, to feed it with life and magic.”

”Hm… It doesnʼt sound that nice…”

”Donʼt worry about it, the bear soul felt no pain, and if anything, it must be a relieving feeling.”

”I wouldnʼt really like to lose my own individuality, but I suppose a bearʼs thinking is a bit different than a human in that regard…”

”Yes, donʼt worry about it, Frank. …I think it might be gone because you willed it to rest in peace as well.”

”Thatʼs possible?”

”Perhaps.”

”Hm… Oh well. Ah, thereʼs equipment?!”

Frank was surprised to see a pair of red colored gloves there, glowing with a red aura.

”Gloves?”

”Yeah, they seem strong…”

Frank quickly equipped both gloves, they fitted his hands perfectly.

FLUOSH!

He immediately felt a fiery power course through his hands, as he felt his firepower being elevated.
