The Hall of Dragons slowly emptied.

Ministers gathered into small groups, discussing the emperor’s assignments.

Some praised the restoration of Ironridge.

Others debated the increase in monster attacks along the frontier.

Few noticed Kael quietly leaving the throne room.

Those who did...

Watched him a little longer than before.

The Tenth Prince was no longer an overlooked royal.

He had become someone worth paying attention to.

The Black Dragon Estate

The estate buzzed with activity.

Blacksmiths repaired damaged armor from Ironridge.

Servants unloaded new supplies sent by the Imperial Treasury.

The Emperor had kept his promise.

Weapons.

Food.

Medicine.

Building materials.

Everything needed to strengthen Kael’s growing force.

Walter whistled.

”I’ve never seen this much equipment.”

Leon looked over the inventory.

”We’re still short on horses.”

Darius nodded.

”And experienced scouts.”

”We’ll solve one problem at a time.”

Kael entered the courtyard.

The fifty soldiers immediately stood.

”Commander!”

He nodded.

”At ease.”

The soldiers relaxed.

The Expedition

Kael unrolled a large map across a wooden table.

Several squad leaders gathered around.

”The Emperor has assigned us to the Imperial Expedition Corps.”

A murmur spread through the officers.

Most had heard stories.

Few had ever served in one.

Darius pointed toward the eastern mountains.

”The Crimson Highlands.”

”Steep terrain.”

”Old ruins.”

”Dense forests.”

”Poor visibility.”

Leon added,

”Supply lines are difficult.”

”If we’re careless...”

”We’ll run out of food before we see the enemy.”

Walter folded his arms.

”So...”

”What exactly are we hunting?”

Kael looked toward Magnus’ report.

”We don’t know.”

”And that’s what worries me.”

Preparation

For the next several days...

Training intensified.

Before sunrise...

The Black Dragon Company was already on the training grounds.

Squad leaders drilled formations.

Shield walls.

Flanking maneuvers.

Mountain combat.

Retreat signals.

No movement was repeated without purpose.

Kael trained separately.

Not because he believed himself above the others.

Because he had something new to master.

Night Aura

He stood alone beneath an old oak tree.

Sword in hand.

Eyes closed.

He slowed his breathing.

Mana flowed through his body.

Silver Knight Aura appeared first.

Then...

He pushed further.

Dark violet energy slowly emerged beneath the silver.

Night Aura.

Unlike ordinary Aura...

It felt heavier.

Denser.

As if every movement demanded absolute concentration.

Kael swung once.

The air split with a sharp whistle.

Again.

Each strike consumed enormous stamina.

Within minutes...

Sweat soaked his training clothes.

His breathing became ragged.

”...Too inefficient.”

The system appeared.

Night Aura

Mastery: 5%

Current Drawback:

Excessive stamina consumption.

Recommendation:

Repeated controlled use.

Kael dismissed the screen.

”This won’t be ready overnight.”

Blood Arts

He switched techniques.

Drawing a small dagger...

He made a shallow cut across his palm.

Blood dripped onto the training stone.

Rather than letting it fall...

It hovered in the air.

One drop.

Then another.

Soon dozens of crimson droplets floated around him.

With a flick of his fingers...

They stretched into razor-thin needles.

Another motion.

The needles became threads.

Then a curved blade.

Finally...

They dissolved back into liquid before returning to his wound.

The cut sealed itself.

Not healed completely.

Only closed enough to stop the bleeding.

Kael frowned.

”I still waste too much mana.”

Blood Magic remained his most dangerous ability.

Not because it was powerful.

Because every mistake cost his own blood.

Later that evening...

Kael entered his study.

The mysterious black egg rested exactly where he had left it.

He sat beside it.

Quietly reading an old history book.

Hours passed.

Neither moved.

Then...

Thump.

Kael looked up.

The egg pulsed once.

A faint silver line flashed across its shell.

Gone almost instantly.

Kael placed the book down.

”...Did you understand something?”

The egg remained still.

No answer.

Only silence.

The First Prince

Elsewhere...

Within the Imperial Palace...

The First Prince met with several ministers.

Maps covered an enormous table.

Trade routes.

Tax records.

Merchant agreements.

Unlike military campaigns...

His battlefield was economics.

A minister bowed.

”Your Highness.”

”The Western Merchant League is demanding lower tariffs.”

Cassian studied the figures.

”They’re testing us.”

”They believe we’ll negotiate from weakness.”

He calmly adjusted several markers.

”We’ll increase river trade instead.”

”If they refuse cooperation...”

”They’ll lose more than we will.”

The ministers exchanged impressed glances.

No shouting.

No threats.

Only careful planning.

The Emperor

From a nearby balcony...

The Emperor quietly observed.

Magnus approached.

”You watch all of them.”

The Emperor nodded.

”They each have different strengths.”

He watched the First Prince continue working.

”Leadership wears many faces.”

His gaze drifted toward the distant district where Kael’s estate stood.

”And each path reveals a different kind of ruler.”

Beneath the Palace

Deep underground...

A candle flickered.

The hooded figure unfolded a faded map.

Unlike modern Imperial maps...

It showed lands beyond the Empire.

Across the sea.

Deep forests.

Ancient kingdoms.

Places erased from modern history.

One location had been circled countless times.

The Crimson Highlands.

The figure whispered,

”The seal grows weaker.”

The Empress stood nearby.

”Will he find it?”

”He was always meant to.”

”And when he does...”

The figure carefully rolled the map shut.

”...the continent will begin moving again.”

Departure

At dawn...

The Black Dragon Company assembled outside the estate.

Fresh armor gleamed beneath the rising sun.

Supply wagons stood ready.

Imperial banners fluttered in the breeze.

Darius mounted his horse.

Walter adjusted his new officer’s cloak.

Leon inspected the wagons one final time.

Grom disappeared into the trees ahead.

Already scouting.

Kael climbed into the saddle.

He looked at the fifty soldiers before him.

Each one waited for his command.

He smiled.

Not out of confidence...

But responsibility.

”Move out.”

Fifty voices answered as one.

”Yes, Commander!”

The gates opened.

The Black Dragon Company marched toward the eastern road.

Ahead lay the Crimson Highlands.

A land where monsters gathered...

Ancient ruins slept beneath the mountains...

And the first true expedition of Kael’s life was about to begin.
