A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 1546: Chapter 1536: Letting Go

Tears hit the letter paper, the ”pat, pat” sound was particularly clear in the silent air.

Mu Yan was shedding tears and sniffing, completely unable to control her emotions.

Luo Yao didn’t know the content of the letter. Seeing Mu Yan crying sadly, she asked, ”Sister, what’s wrong?”

She handed her a few tissues.

Mu Yan took them and dried her tears, but her emotions couldn’t calm down quickly.

Luo Yao, seeing this, took the letter paper from her hand and began to read.

After she finished reading, her eyes also turned red and she choked up, ”Such a big matter, how could he hide it from us?”

Mu Yan sniffled and said, ”That’s just his nature, always afraid to burden others. When he was sick before, if I hadn’t noticed, he would never have said anything.”

”But this isn’t just an illness, it’s...” Luo Yao couldn’t continue, covering her mouth as tears poured down.

Mu Yan closed her eyes and said, ”Things have come to this point; blaming him is useless. It’s all because of me.”

Luo Yao saw her self-blame and tried to comfort her, ”This has nothing to do with you.”

”No, you don’t understand.” Mu Yan shook her head. She opened her eyes, tearfully looking at her, ”I was the one who insisted on him having surgery, because the surgery was his only hope to live. He agreed to it not because he wanted to, but so I wouldn’t feel guilty and regretful.”

She looked down at the letter in her hand, ”And when this letter was found, he had already passed away. Although the truth has been revealed, I might be sad, but events have been settled and time has provided some buffer, so it won’t be too unbearably painful.”

She wished he wasn’t so considerate and would just tell her everything.

She couldn’t imagine how much torment and fear he had endured harboring such a big secret.

”He’s so foolish.” Luo Yao cried even harder.

Mu Yan lifted her gaze to Mu Chen’s smiling face in the memorial portrait, as if he hadn’t smiled so freely in a long time.

Maybe this really was a release for him.

But can those who remain truly come to terms with it? No, he will become an indelible mark in her heart.

Mu Yan suddenly laughed, tears streaming down, ”Chenchen, you did it. Your sister will never forget you for the rest of her life.” Not out of guilt, but because there will never be such a foolish brother again, who cared wholeheartedly for his sister, even at the cost of ending his own life.

This kind of affection can never be replaced by anything.

Once her emotions had calmed, Luo Yao prepared to cook for Mu Yan.

The kitchen was equipped with new utensils, newly bought by Luo Yao yesterday, and she also went to the market this morning to buy vegetables, indicating her intention to stay here.

Luo Yao put on an apron and started to prepare the vegetables.

Mu Yan stood next to her and hesitated for a moment, saying, ”Luo Yao, you’re still young, there’s no need for you to stay just because of Chenchen.”

”Sister, he’s my husband, this is what I should do. I don’t feel it’s a hardship; living in the room where he once stayed every day, I feel like he’s still with me. I can’t guarantee I’ll remain faithful to him forever, but as he once said, he was the most beautiful scenery I encountered in my life, so beautiful that it’s worth a lifetime to cherish. Before new feelings come along, I want to be by his side, as a wife and lover’s duty.” Luo Yao said, placing the vegetables in the wash basin, turning the faucet on, as water splashed over the lush green leaves.

Mu Yan understood Luo Yao’s thoughts; Chenchen hasn’t been gone for long, his expressions and demeanor still linger vividly in their minds, but as time passes, people will gradually move on.

”Alright, I won’t say such things anymore, but since you’re Chenchen’s wife, you’re my sister-in-law, I’m your family. If you need help in the future, make sure to tell me, don’t be distant.”

Luo Yao turned her head and smiled at her, ”Okay!”
