A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 1507: Chapter 1497: Standing Up for Me

On the way back, Kong Lizhen noticed Mu Yan was absent-minded, completely lacking the joy she had just shown at the hospital, and asked, ”Yanyan, what’s wrong?”

”It’s nothing.” Mu Yan shook her head.

”Being pregnant means you should maintain a good mood, otherwise the baby will also feel the mother’s negative emotions.” Kong Lizhen said.

Mu Yan lowered her head to look at her flat belly, her expression becoming slightly softer.

Kong Lizhen looked at her daughter’s serene face and asked, ”Are you thinking about Jing Heng?”

”Mom, this is the first time I’ve been apart from him for so long. Initially, I felt it was no big deal, there was even a bit of deliberate intent on my part; I thought he would soon come and coax me like before. But I’ve waited for so long without hearing his explanation, he’s been indifferent, and it’s making me feel uncomfortable.” Mu Yan raised her head, giving a self-mocking smile, ”Mom, am I being too self-centered? Maybe I’m not that important in his heart after all.”

Kong Lizhen thought for a moment and said, ”The most fragile thing about love is suspicion. If you love him, you should trust him. Don’t just listen to what he says, watch what he does.”

Mu Yan said nothing, staring out the window lost in thought.

Kong Lizhen knew that no matter how much she advised, it wouldn’t be as effective as Mu Yan figuring things out herself. Actually, she felt that Jiang Jingheng was a deeply calculating person and didn’t seem like one to be easily swayed; his current behavior seemed more like a strategic retreat.

However, she wouldn’t tell Mu Yan any of this.

After all, up to now, he hadn’t done anything to harm her.

Back at the Zhuang Family’s, Mu Yan instantly became the main focus of protection.

Even when she was standing, people were worried she might get tired. Several women surrounded her, giving her advice and warnings, fearing she might unknowingly harm the baby since it was her first pregnancy.

Mu Yan listened intently, almost eager to take notes.

The Zhuang Family was experiencing one happy event after another, and the old lady was overjoyed, looking much healthier.

The old lady looked at Mu Yan’s sharp chin and said, ”Nuannuan is still too thin; this won’t do. You need to let your aunt take good care of you.”

”Yes, from now on, I’ll take care of Nuannuan’s health. Back when Ah Ning was pregnant with Nuannuan, I was the one who looked after her. I’m not bragging, but Nuannuan turning out so beautiful now has something to do with me.” Ruan Xinyu laughed.

Zhuang Shaoyang couldn’t help but recall when Zhuang Ning was pregnant with Mu Yan, saying, ”Back then, Ah Ning had a great appetite, always complaining of hunger in the middle of the night. I’d often drive out in the middle of the night to buy her food.”

As soon as he spoke, everyone’s eyes turned to Kong Lizhen, hoping she might consider the past ties and the soon-to-be-born grandchild to give Zhuang Shaoyang a chance.

Kong Lizhen gave a faint smile, looking at Ruan Xinyu, and said, ”I know sister-in-law has always treated Yanyan as her own daughter, and that is her blessing.”

Zhuang Shaoyang looked at Kong Lizhen’s indifferent expression, recalling how she had told him she didn’t remember the past anymore, so she couldn’t empathize with him reminiscing about it.

”I’ll go see if the soup is ready in the kitchen?” Kong Lizhen suddenly got up and went to the kitchen.

The old lady’s eyes flickered with disappointment, giving her son an angry glance. It was all his fault that this once good family had been ruined.

The atmosphere was somewhat stifled, and Ruan Xinyu brought the conversation back to Mu Yan, which revived the old lady’s spirit.

As everyone chatted, suddenly a figure dashed in from the doorway.

”Dad, Mom, you have to stand up for me!”
