A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 1532: Chapter 1522: Why Can’t I Do It

After waiting for a while, there were still two shareholders yet to arrive, but it was almost time, and the shareholders had long been impatient. Thus, the meeting commenced.

The shareholder meeting was chaired by Chairman Li, a confidant of Old Sir Jiang. Now, due to health reasons, the Old Sir couldn’t attend the shareholders’ meeting, and everything was left to him to handle.

Chairman Li routinely summarized Shengyuan Group’s financial situation for the last quarter. The profit had decreased by ten percent compared to the previous quarter, the stock price had plummeted by twenty percent recently, and the company’s market value evaporated by over fifty billion.

Chairman He listened, then said with a stern face: ”The stock price fall is entirely due to Jiang Jingheng’s personal reasons. He needs to bear the consequences.”

”Yes, he made a significant decision-making error, and combined with personal issues causing a whirlwind, it severely affected the company’s stock price. I propose to dismiss him from the position of CEO.”

”I agree, he vanishes into thin air when there’s trouble. If a person like him is left to manage the company, it’ll collapse sooner or later.”

...

One by one, the shareholders indignantly voiced their discontent with Jiang Jingheng and demanded a change in CEO.

Chairman Li adjusted his glasses and said, ”Regarding the current actions of the company, both I and Chairman Jiang are aware. Since the need is to change the CEO, do any of you have any good suggestions?”

President Zhou said, ”Now that the Old Sir is unwell, the company cannot remain leaderless. I propose Jiang Wenhui, Vice President, to take the role of Executive CEO and lead Shengyuan Group back to its former glory.”

”Yes, since Vice President Jiang joined the company, she’s been diligent and conscientious, accomplishing numerous large and small projects, and her achievements are visible to all. She is indeed the most suitable choice to become CEO.”

”I agree with President Zhou’s opinion.”

...

Seeing everyone vote for her, Jiang Wenhui stood up and said, ”Thank you, everyone, for your trust.”

Her face was brimming with a smile, an unprecedented confidence, ”I will certainly do my utmost, dedicate myself, and strive to create value for the company.”

Mu Yan glanced at her, then lowered her gaze.

”Well said!” The other shareholders applauded one after another.

Just then, with a ”bang,” the meeting room doors were pushed open, and someone broke in.

Everyone suddenly looked up to see Yin Manqing.

”Hasn’t President Yin been at the police station? How come he has the time to attend the group meeting today?” A shareholder teased.

Yin Manqing ignored him and looked at Chairman Li, saying: ”Now the Old Sir is bedridden from a stroke and cannot speak. Are you going to transfer the group ownership so easily without seeking his opinion?”

”Should we just watch the company’s stock price fall all the way until it goes bankrupt?” a shareholder rebuked in dissatisfaction.

”Moreover, what does group ownership transfer mean? Vice President Jiang is also part of the Jiang Family. What’s there to worry about Jiang Family members?”

Yin Manqing sneered, ”The Jiang Family has no tradition of women inheriting the business. Besides, it’s not like the Jiang Family doesn’t have any male heirs. If the Old Sir were sitting here today, this woman wouldn’t even have the qualification to sit here.”

Everyone suddenly looked at Jiang Wenhui. Indeed, Old Sir Jiang was wise for a lifetime, with only one stubborn point: a preference for males over females.

Over a decade ago, the eldest grandson of the Jiang Family had a car accident, leaving the group’s successor position vacant. Someone suggested the eldest daughter Wenhui for the CEO role, but the Old Sir vetoed it outright. A few years later, he appointed Jiang Jingheng as the group CEO, evidently intending to hand over the Jiang Family’s legacy to him.

Jiang Wenhui looked at Yin Manqing and suddenly smiled, ”Actually, it’s quite regrettable that I am of a daughter’s body. But President Yin, can’t a woman stand alone? Take President Yin for example; he started as a nightclub dancer, now isn’t he sitting in the highest-end office, commanding respect?”

Her gaze swept over everyone below, ”I’ve received the highest education and have the richest work experience. In terms of talent and decisiveness, I am no less than any man. Why can’t I do it?”
