A-List Actress: Paper Marriage but Pampering Billionaire

Chapter 1515: Chapter 1505: Sovereignty

Although Mu Yan hasn’t spent much time with Old Sir Jiang, she respects him greatly for establishing such a vast family enterprise for the Jiang Family.

She stepped forward and called out, ”Grandpa, how are you feeling?”

Old Sir Jiang’s eyeballs moved slightly, and he looked at her. His lips twitched, but he couldn’t make a sound.

Seeing him like this, Mu Yan realized the situation wasn’t good. She apologized, ”Grandpa, I’m sorry for taking so long to come see you.”

”Nuannuan, don’t blame yourself. Grandpa knows your filial piety. He won’t blame you,” Jiang Wenhui consoled her.

Mu Yan said nothing, looking at Old Sir Jiang with an extremely complex expression.

Who would have thought that the person who dominated the Upper City back in those days would now be lying in bed, barely clinging to life?

After a while, Mu Yan came out of the hospital room.

”What did the doctor say?”

”The doctor said Grandpa’s blood pressure was too high, causing a blood vessel to rupture and resulting in a stroke due to a cerebral hemorrhage. If the blood clot is extracted, there’s a chance of recovery, but due to Grandpa’s age, the risk of brain surgery is too high. One small mistake could...” Jiang Wenhui trailed off.

Mu Yan looked ahead, her expression dark, ”Just like Mu Chen, if I hadn’t insisted on his surgery back then, he would probably still be with me now.”

”Nuannuan...” Jiang Wenhui called softly, ”It’s all in the past. The deceased may be worth remembering, but the living should take care of their health.”

”I understand.” Mu Yan nodded, ”Since I’m not with the Jiang Family, I’ll have to trouble you, elder sister, to take care of Grandpa’s matters.”

”What are you saying? He’s my grandfather. But are you really planning to move to Italy because of Jing Heng? Are you abandoning us?” Jiang Wenhui held her hand.

”I haven’t decided to settle yet, but with Mu Chen gone, I can’t find any reason to stay here.” Mu Yan exhaled lightly, ”If I return, I will definitely inform you all.”

”Time is the best medicine to heal. I won’t force you, but...” Jiang Wenhui hesitated.

”Hmm?” Mu Yan looked at her in surprise.

”What is your relationship with that man in the news? I know I shouldn’t ask about your private matters, but...”

Mu Yan thought for a moment, realizing something, ”Are you talking about Ah Yan? He’s a relative of my godmother, and we’re just friends. Elder sister, don’t read too much into it.”

”I was just asking. Why are you so eager to clear things up?” Jiang Wenhui teased, ”You’re so beautiful, it’s normal to have admirers.”

”Elder sister, I don’t want to think about those things for now. Besides, I’m still married.” Mu Yan said blandly.

Seeing her expression wasn’t right, Jiang Wenhui immediately changed the topic, ”Stay here for lunch. I’ll have the kitchen make your favorite dishes.”

”No, I have some matters to attend to in the morning.”

”Alright, I won’t force you then.” Jiang Wenhui nodded.

On the first floor, Qiu Shuyun had just seen off several noblewomen when she turned and saw Mu Yan and Jiang Wenhui coming down the stairs together.

She curled her lips into a cold smile and said, ”You haven’t divorced Jing Heng yet, but you’re not considering yourself part of the Jiang Family anymore. Your grandfather has been ill for so long and you haven’t come back to see him. What do you mean by running back now?”

Jiang Wenhui responded with displeasure, ”Mom, what are you talking about?”

”How am I talking nonsense? Someone is delaying the divorce, just trying to claim an inheritance as a daughter-in-law of the Jiang Family. But she miscalculated; Old Sir Jiang is sick from being angered by Jiang Jingheng. He may not leave him a penny, let alone you, the granddaughter-in-law.”

”Enough, Mom!” Jiang Wenhui was slightly angry.

She turned to Mu Yan and said, ”Nuannuan, don’t be angry about my mom’s nonsense.”

”It’s nothing.” Mu Yan said calmly, ”I won’t take what’s not mine, but what is mine, no one can take away.”

She nodded toward Jiang Wenhui and walked out.
