Raising My Children With My Personal Spatial Ability

Chapter 2610: Chapter 2610: No Time for That

Little Le couldn’t bring the Emperor, his face sour, yet he dared not delay and hurried back to Regency Hall, while in the imperial study room, standing beside the Emperor was none other than An Jiuyue.

“I didn’t expect you’d still enter the palace this late.”

Just earlier, he was upset about the Retired Emperor’s affairs and hadn’t expected An Jiuyue to arrive in the capital today, let alone that she’d enter the palace this late.

“Eunuch Fu, go prepare a table of dishes.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

Upon hearing the command, Eunuch Fu, who had just entered, responded immediately and exited the imperial study room once more.

“Your Majesty, this was sent by Prince An Yang through me. He says it’s a method for managing the drought.” An Jiuyue handed a thick stack of papers to the Emperor.

“I’ll take a look first. You sit for a while; the food will be here soon.”

The Emperor rubbed his hands, took the papers from An Jiuyue, and eagerly began reading. This was precisely what he had been waiting for.

Both his second younger brother and sister-in-law are highly capable individuals, claiming they can manage the drought in the Northern Lands, which surely they can. He had already invited both the Minister of Works and the Minister of Revenue to the palace to discuss in detail, and personnel and money are still manageable to be deployed.

Seeing the Emperor engrossed in the stack of papers, An Jiuyue found a chair to sit down.

She’d been rushing day and night to reach the capital, finally handing the materials to the Emperor, allowing her to breathe a sigh of relief.

Later, she must eat well; after so many days of rough dining and exposure, she felt she could eat a whole cow.

Soon, Eunuch Fu personally brought a large table of dishes. Since the imperial study room didn’t have a dining table, he instructed people to temporarily bring one in.

Originally, he thought the Emperor could join them to eat a little, as he hadn’t eaten much all day, partly due to anger and partly because of busyness, leaving no time to eat.

But the Emperor kept his focus on the papers, not sparing a glance at the Princess of the Third Rank.

He sighed lightly, serving dishes to An Jiuyue.

“Eunuch Fu, what’s the matter with you? Why are you sighing out of nowhere?” An Jiuyue, being close, naturally heard his sigh and looked up at him to ask.

This was the imperial study room; if the Emperor heard Eunuch Fu sighing, wouldn’t he be punished?

“Uh.”

Eunuch Fu was taken aback.

“Forgive me, Princess, it’s the servant’s fault. The servant was just… worrying about how busy the Emperor has been lately, and especially today, he hasn’t eaten much, so the servant…”

He shook his head; every day, he contemplated ways to make the Emperor eat a bit more, but the Emperor simply didn’t have the time.

“That’s nothing; if the Emperor is too busy to have a proper meal, just prepare more pastries early that can be eaten on the go, placed where the Emperor can see them.”

An Jiuyue gestured toward the Emperor.

“If the Emperor doesn’t like sweet pastries, add less sugar; just enough flavor will do. Also, prepare some sweet and sour tastes, and replace tea with ginseng soup, etcetera. The Emperor won’t refuse?” she softly suggested.

The Emperor looked up, overhearing An Jiuyue instructing Eunuch Fu on how to prepare his food and smiled.

He had simply been too busy these days, genuinely busy. The Northern Lands drought was the first major event since he ascended the throne, and he sought to minimize the casualties among the Northern Lands people.

However, even after calculating again and again, though the national treasury had both grain and silver, he couldn’t decide, at least for the moment, on whom to send to the Northern Lands.
