Chapter 2609: Chapter 2609: If Only He Had Known Then What He Knows Now

...

Outside the imperial study room, the eunuchs from the Regency Hall were waiting.

After a short while, the Chief Eunuch by the Emperor’s side came out, looking at them with displeasure.

”Little Le, you are not serving the Retired Emperor in the Regency Hall, what are you doing outside the imperial study room? Do you not know what place this is?”

”Grand Steward, I didn’t want to come either, but the orders from the Retired Emperor, I dare not disobey.” The young eunuch truly felt helpless, did he really want to come here?

If he didn’t come, he wouldn’t be able to explain to the Retired Emperor, and if the Retired Emperor got angry, would they as servants have their lives intact?

”Is something wrong on the Retired Emperor’s side?”

The Chief Eunuch naturally knew what the Retired Emperor was concerned about, but he still asked.

Before, no matter how the Emperor went to the Regency Hall, he wouldn’t see the Retired Emperor. Now it is better, when money and food are gone, he urgently sends people over?

He didn’t know what to say anymore, knowing today, why bother in the first place?

Little Le: ”...”

What issues are there on the Retired Emperor’s side that the Emperor wouldn’t know, and the Chief Eunuch before him would not know?

It’s just that everyone in the palace is astute; even if they understand inside, they cannot show it too overtly, the words must be spoken slowly.

”No, nothing’s wrong, just the Retired Emperor misses the Emperor, sent a servant over, inviting the Emperor to come to the Regency Hall to talk.” He said, stretching his mouth.

These words were spoken after careful consideration.

He can’t possibly say that the Retired Emperor is furious over meals and monthly allowances, demanding the Emperor to roll over and see him?

If those words come out, he wouldn’t see the sun the next day, as he would be dragged out and beaten to death, he has to protect his own life after all.

Of course, the Chief Eunuch knew this even more clearly.

What missing the Emperor, isn’t he just in the Regency Hall unable to scold the Prince, absurdly wanting the Emperor to hurry over to hear scolding?

”At this late hour, it’s neither Mid-Autumn nor a festival, and the Retired Emperor supposedly misses the Emperor? Hah.” He let out a cold laugh, his tone was full of mockery.

”Go back and reply to the Retired Emperor; the Emperor has been busy worrying about the severe drought in the Northern Lands these days and has no thoughts of catching up with the Retired Emperor. When the Emperor is free, he will certainly visit the Regency Hall.”

”Ah?”

Little Le was stunned.

These words are so blunt! It’s expected that the Emperor doesn’t want to see the Retired Emperor, but the Chief Eunuch doesn’t even ask the Emperor but immediately sends away the person sent by the Retired Emperor. Isn’t that inappropriate?

”Grand Steward, is this the Emperor’s intention?”

”Where does the Emperor have so much time, he’s still busy, if you have nothing to do, just leave quickly.” The Chief Eunuch waved his hand at Little Le, indicating for him to leave quickly.

The Emperor is currently quite angry, he figured that if he hears the words Retired Emperor again, he might issue a few more orders.

Maybe, not only will there be no food, but even clothing and other supplies won’t be there. Then, where will the Retired Emperor have a place to cry?

”Grand Steward, this servant...”

”What are you babbling about, hurry and leave, if you disturb the Emperor, ten heads wouldn’t be enough for you to lose, get out.” The Chief Eunuch didn’t even give Little Le a chance to finish speaking, directly driving him away.

If you ask him, it’s because the Emperor was too kind to the Retired Emperor that made him more unreasonable.

Do you really think the Emperor will indulge him forever?
