Cutesy Wife Sweet Like Honey: Mr. Mu's Nightly Dote!

Chapter 211: Chapter 210: Breakdown

In his memory, although Judy would occasionally have a temper, that was a common issue among women and not a big deal. As long as she could keep to her duties and work diligently, that was enough!

Moreover, being chosen by the CEO as a personal secretary meant she had some real skills!

He never imagined she would be so foolish as to do something that harmed the CEO’s wife!

One should know, the CEO’s wife was the apple of his eye, and in hurting her, Judy was already pushing herself towards a dead end.

Judy seemed greatly agitated, her eyes turning red with emotion, exclaiming, ”No... no... it’s not... it’s not like that...! How could the CEO possibly like that woman? I’m getting rid of her for the CEO’s sake. She’s clinging to him, and he can’t shake her off, I’m helping him! I’m helping the CEO to get rid of her!”

Pete sneered twice, retorting, ”Ha, ha, that’s just your own thinking! Do you really think if the CEO didn’t want it, any woman could cling to him?”

Faced with his question, Judy instantly fell silent, her eyes flickering as if she didn’t want to believe the truth.

”I know you’ve always liked the CEO, but you should be aware that there are countless women who like him, yet there is only one position as the CEO’s wife! The CEO is someone with a strong sense of self-awareness; no one can force him to do what he doesn’t want to do! I’ve been by the CEO’s side for so many years, and this is the first time I’ve seen him treat a woman so well! So, do you think he dislikes her?” Pete looked seriously at Judy’s expression, and seeing her shaking her head unwillingly, he couldn’t help but sigh inwardly, ”Initially, I didn’t want to say so much to you! But, considering we’ve worked together for so many years, I couldn’t help but give you a kindly reminder! I hope you take care in the future!” With that, Pete didn’t spare her another glance and turned to head back to Mu Building.

Watching as Pete disappeared from sight, Judy clutched her head, nearly hysterical, ”Why? Why? Why? I did it all for his good, why is he treating me like this? Why?”

The two young police officers shook their heads helplessly, restraining the emotionally out-of-control, muttering Judy as they put her into the police car.

After seeing Judy off, Pete returned to the CEO’s office.

Standing respectfully in front of Mu Beiting, Pete calmly reported, ”CEO, the financial news at eight this morning reported that the Xie company has declared bankruptcy! The members of the Xie Family, driven to desperation by creditors, have now disappeared without a trace! As for Xie Yunlu, because there were no orders from you, the prison guards didn’t dare to call a doctor for her! Although she’s now stopped bleeding, she didn’t manage to keep the child; it slipped out of her body at 10:30 last night! It was a perfectly formed boy! She’s emotionally collapsed, fainting several times! But she’s not in any life-threatening danger!”

Mu Beiting nodded, a coldness in his voice, ”Give orders to ensure she doesn’t die! No matter what, she must be kept alive!”

”Got it!” Pete nodded, hesitated for a while, but couldn’t hold back from asking, ”CEO, what about Mu Rufeng, Mother Mu, and the old man? I went and investigated thoroughly yesterday; they truly were unaware of the matter, it was all covered up by Xie Yunlu alone!”

Upon hearing the Mu Family name, Mu Beiting’s brows furrowed, and he gave Pete a displeased look.

”I’m sorry! I overstepped!” Pete immediately lowered his head in remorse.

Yesterday, the CEO indeed hadn’t ordered him to investigate, but he thought since the old man is the CEO’s biological father, having his own son lock him up in prison could seriously tarnish the CEO’s reputation! In severe cases, it might even affect the Mu Building’s stock market!

He didn’t want the CEO to be saddled with infamy, which is why he investigated privately.

Mu Beiting’s displeased voice barked, ”Leave!”

”Yes!” Pete felt a chill run over his scalp, turned around, and headed for the door. Just as he reached the exit, he seemed to remember something, and turned back to ask, ”CEO, do you need another secretary?”

Without a second thought, Mu Beiting directly answered, ”No need!”

”Then I’m leaving!” Pete nodded and left.

Watching the closed office door, Mu Beiting’s eyes turned dark, his true emotions unreadable.

With matters at a pause, Mu Beiting threw himself fully into work.

In the villa, Ye Anxin was, as usual, curled up in the garden’s cradle reading a book.

Suddenly, her phone rang beside her.

Ye Anxin picked up the phone, glanced at the caller ID, and saw it was an unfamiliar landline number!

After hesitating for a while, Ye Anxin answered the call.

”Hello...!” As soon as the call connected, an elderly voice came from the other end.

Ye Anxin paused, tentatively calling out, ”Old Master!”

There was a moment of silence on the other end before the voice spoke again, ”It’s me! I’m calling you from the prison landline!”

”Prison?” Ye Anxin was taken aback, then immediately recalled the events at the hotel the day before!

Yes, at that time Mu Rufeng, Mother Mu, and the old man were all taken away by the police! Now surely they were in prison!

However, learning that Uncle sent his own father to prison still took her by surprise.

Ignoring Ye Anxin’s astonishment, Mu Huajian’s voice continued low from the other end, ”I’m calling you because I have something to say to you!”

Ye Anxin hesitated for a moment, pondering, and then said, ”Go ahead!”

Mu Huajian sincerely said, ”Whether you believe it or not, we were kept in the dark about what happened yesterday, it was all done by Xie Yunlu alone! I was also shocked when I learned of what she did to you! For this, I am apologizing to you over this call!”

”...?” Ye Anxin never expected that the old man of the Mu Family would personally call to apologize.

For someone of his stature, opening up to say sorry was akin to scaling the heavens! Yet, he did so today!

Ye Anxin wasn’t someone who could harden her heart, especially when a seventy-something old man was calling from prison to apologize! Anyone in her place would struggle to hold on to blame! Besides, this matter had nothing to do with him originally! The most important thing was, he was Uncle’s biological father! For Uncle’s sake, she shouldn’t be unforgiving.

Thoughtfully, Ye Anxin replied with a smile, ”You just said it yourself, this has nothing to do with you! So, there’s no need for you to apologize to me!”

On the other end of the line, Mu Huajian was evidently surprised by her leniency, pausing before sincerely expressing, ”In the past, I misunderstood you! I thought you were clinging to the Mu Family for money, that your marriage to Beiting was all premeditated! I’m sorry for wrongly accusing you! I apologize for my attitude towards you the last time at the villa!”

Ye Anxin, a bit embarrassed, said, ”No need, really no need!”
