Sweet Rebirth: The Little Healer

Zhao Nuanyue planted a kiss on her sister’s chubby little face and chuckled. ”So what if Hua Zhiqiang is unhappy! I’m already Hua Yusen’s fiancée, and I’ve done the Hua family a great service. He can’t do anything to me. He thinks I’m not good enough for the Hua family? Hmph, he’s just being a snob. I have an amazing sister like you, Little Red Carp, and I have special abilities of my own. I have so much potential! All the elders in my life say I’m destined for great things, so I’m very confident. You don’t need to worry about me. As long as I have Elder Gu’s support and Hua Yusen’s heart, it doesn’t matter if Hua Zhiqiang is displeased.”

After listening to her sister, Little Red Carp nodded. ”You have a point, Sister. You’re not actually a fool!”

”Hmph. With a clever sister like Little Red Carp, how could I possibly be a fool?” Zhao Nuanyue said smugly, complimenting both herself and her sister in one go.

Little Red Carp was, in fact, very happy to hear her sister’s words.

”You can put me down now, Sister, you must be tired,” Little Red Carp said, wriggling to get out of her sister’s arms. ”You should hurry and cook. Brother will be home from work soon.”

”Alrighty!” Zhao Nuanyue replied with a bright laugh, setting Little Red Carp down in the courtyard to play.

Zhao Nuanyue went to the kitchen and made braised crucian carp, stir-fried Dragon Wisdom Grass, some congee, and steamed rice.

The doctor hadn’t yet cleared Hua Yusen to eat solid food, so Zhao Nuanyue didn’t prepare anything for him.

When Zhao Nuan Yang came home from work, he was thrilled to learn from his sister that Hua Yusen had woken up.

”Now that Hua has woken up, I can finally rest easy,” Zhao Nuan Yang said with a light chuckle. ”If he had remained unconscious, I wouldn’t have agreed to you staying by his side.”

”Hehe, thank you, Nuanyang. I know you’re just worried about me,” Zhao Nuanyue said gratefully. ”Thankfully, Hua woke up. Now you won’t be in such a difficult position, and I won’t have to keep justifying my decision to everyone.”

”Sister, you must be happy,” Zhao Nuan Yang said in a serious voice, offering his sincere blessing.

”I will be,” Zhao Nuanyue said with a smile. ”I’ve always been happy. I have a wonderful brother and an adorable sister. Life has its challenges, but they can’t overshadow my happiness. And now, with Hua Yusen in our lives, we’re going to be even happier.”

”Hehe, as long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters.” Zhao Nuan Yang nodded, his gaze shifting from Little Red Carp, who was eating with gusto, to his beaming sister.

’Life truly is beautiful!’

They were, indeed, very happy.

After dinner, Zhao Nuanyue got Little Red Carp washed up and ready for bed.

”Little Red Carp, will you be scared?” Zhao Nuanyue asked. ”If you feel frightened during the night, you can sleep in your brother’s room.”

”Not scared, not scared,” Little Red Carp replied. ”It’s actually a perfect opportunity for me to cultivate.”

”Okay then.” Zhao Nuanyue kissed her sister, tucked her in under a thin blanket, and then gathered the things she had prepared and headed to the hospital.

Even though it was dark out, Zhao Nuanyue had two bodyguards with her, so she wasn’t afraid.

It was precisely because of these bodyguards that Zhao Nuan Yang felt comfortable letting his sister go to the hospital by herself.

One of the bodyguards drove Zhao Nuanyue to the hospital, where they took turns standing guard at the room’s entrance with Hua Yusen’s bodyguards to protect them both.

When she entered the hospital room, Feng Wanru and Hua Zhiqiang were gone. Hua Yulin was there instead.

When Hua Yulin saw Zhao Nuanyue enter, he put a finger to his lips, motioning for her to be quiet. He wanted to step outside to speak with his sister-in-law for a moment.

But at that very moment, Hua Yusen woke up. Seeing Zhao Nuanyue, he smiled gently. ”Nuanyue, you’re here.”

”I’m here,” Zhao Nuanyue said with a smile. ”Did I wake you?”

Zhao Nuanyue’s smile bloomed, as radiant and fragrant as a peach blossom in March, bringing a touch of warmth to the sterile hospital room.

”No, I slept enough,” Hua Yusen said with a smile, then turned to his brother. ”Yu Lin, why didn’t you go get dinner?”

”Hehe, I’m not hungry,” Hua Yulin replied with a soft laugh. ”I sent Mom and Dad home for dinner and told them not to come back tonight. They’re getting on in years and still have work during the day. They can’t get too worn out.”

Zhao Nuanyue smiled. ”Yes, I told Uncle and Auntie the same thing just now—that I would stay with you tonight and they didn’t need to come back.”

”Sister-in-law, you must be tired as well. I should be the one to stay,” Hua Yulin said softly. He was ecstatic that his older brother was awake.

But when he saw that his sister-in-law’s smile was reserved for his brother, the flicker of a crush deep in his heart gave way to a sincere blessing for them both.

Just then, Hua Yufen arrived as well.

She had rushed over right after getting off work.

”No, that’s okay. I got here late, so let me be the one to stay with him,” Hua Yufen said, standing by the bed. ”Big Brother, you have to get well soon! I’ve missed you so much.”

”You don’t need to stay. It’s enough to have your sister-in-law here with me,” Hua Yusen said with a smile. ”I know you’re all busy with work, so I understand if you can’t visit. Besides, this is a crucial time for rebuilding, and you all need to work hard to help the Hua family reach new heights.”

”Yes, Big Brother, we will,” Hua Yulin nodded. ”Our sister’s work is particularly demanding.”

”I understand. By the way, where is Xiao Si?” Hua Yusen asked. ”How is he doing?”

”Xiao Si is in one of the allied nations. His work is sensitive, so we haven’t been able to contact him for a long time,” Hua Yulin said, a hint of worry in his voice. ”But don’t you worry. That kid is undercover as the son of a wealthy businessman; he’s probably living a more comfortable life than any of us.”

”AHEM! AHEM!” Hua Yufen coughed twice, trying to signal her brothers to watch what they were saying. Zhao Nuanyue was in the room, after all.

”What’s wrong, Yu Fen? Are you feeling unwell?” Hua Yusen asked. ”You should leave with your second brother soon. Go get some dinner and a good night’s rest. You don’t need to come every day.”

Hua Yulin understood what his sister was trying to do, but since his older brother hadn’t commented on it, he couldn’t very well be the one to point it out.

”Alright, Yu Fen, look how good Big Brother’s spirits are. We really don’t need to worry anymore,” Hua Yulin said with a smile. ”The doctor said he can eat tomorrow, so he’ll be back on his feet in no time. You just got off work and probably haven’t eaten yet. Come on, I’ll take you out for dinner.”

”That’s right, Yu Fen. Go have dinner with your second brother. Don’t go hungry,” Hua Yusen added.

And just like that, only a few minutes after she’d arrived, Hua Yufen was dragged out of the hospital room by Hua Yulin.

”Second Brother, I barely got to say anything to him! Why did you drag me out?” Hua Yufen complained. She had just gotten there and still had so much she wanted to say.

Seeing his sister’s anger, Hua Yulin’s expression grew serious. ”Why were you coughing earlier?” he asked. ”Were you really not feeling well?”
