Sweet Rebirth: The Little Healer

Gu Qingyu cared about them deeply, and Zhao Nuanyue knew it. But Elder Gu was a very busy man. If it were just a small problem, Zhao Nuanyue would overcome it herself rather than seek him out. She would only trouble Elder Gu with matters she truly couldn’t handle on her own.

Zhao Nuanyue nodded and said, ”Thank you, Elder Gu. I’ll remember that. And thank you for coming to witness our engagement today. You’ve made this union feel all the more profound and solemn.”

Gu Qingyu smiled and replied, ”Lovers are fated to be together. I also hope that Xiaohua wakes up soon, and I wish you both a long and happy life together.”

”Thank you, Elder Gu,” Zhao Nuanyue said gratefully.

Because Hua Yusen was still in a coma, the engagement was very simple. However, the only people who attended were those Zhao Nuanyue held dear.

The solemn, dignified, and heartwarming engagement ceremony concluded under the watchful eyes of all present.

Downstairs from the hospital, a car was parked not far away. Inside, a handsome man sat, smoking as he stared in the direction of Hua Yusen’s hospital room.

’That half-dead invalid actually gets to be engaged to a beauty like Zhao Nuanyue. What incredible fortune from a past life... what damned dog-shit luck.’

’But thankfully, that guy named Hua is an invalid, comatose and unresponsive. There’s no way he could ever be a proper husband to Zhao Nuanyue.’

’Zhao Nuanyue probably thinks her love for Hua Yusen is deep. They’re engaged now, and they’ll get married later. But as a woman, she has no idea what true pleasure is. Only a man as handsome, charming, and skilled as him could give a woman an unforgettable experience she’d never want to end.’

Li Gongming felt a bit better thinking about this. ’After all, Zhao Nuanyue can’t be a real wife to Hua Yusen. So what if they get married? I can keep in contact with her and make her submit to me, make her throw herself into my arms.’

Besides, Zhao Nuanyue’s status wasn’t nearly high enough for her to marry him anyway. So, Li Gongming figured that fooling around with an engaged Zhao Nuanyue would be much safer.

’After all, Zhao Nuanyue is already engaged. Even if she gets with me, she won’t be able to demand I take any responsibility. Just a man and a woman having fun. How easy, how liberating.’

’If I can have her, the Hua family will be utterly humiliated. That living corpse Hua Yusen might even be shocked awake by the anger. I’d practically be doing a good deed.’

Haha! The thought of the Hua family losing all face over Zhao Nuanyue’s scandalous loss of chastity, unable to show their faces in Jincheng City, put Li Gongming in a fantastic mood.

However, Li Gongming’s thoughts then turned to Guo Dongmei, the woman who was always pestering him, demanding a commitment.

But how could he possibly give up on Wu Jingjing of the Wu Family for the sake of the insignificant Guo Family? ’It’s all just a game!’

Having sorted out his thoughts, Li Gongming felt a sense of relief. He glanced up at the hospital room one last time, then started the car and drove away.

’In any case, I’m determined to have Zhao Nuanyue. It would be a waste not to conquer such a beautiful woman, wouldn’t it?’

After witnessing Zhao Nuanyue and Hua Yusen’s engagement, Gu Qingyu did not stay for long. He departed under the protection of his guards.

Hua Zhiqiang and Sun Haoran brought their respective families, and everyone had a meal together, concluding the engagement celebration.

The engagement process had been very simple, but no one looked down on it. That was because Zhao Nuanyue’s love for Hua Yusen was so deep, profound, and moving.

After the meal, Zhao Nuanyue stayed by Hua Yusen’s side for the entire afternoon.

Little Red Carp had originally planned to stay, but seeing how happy her sister looked, she couldn’t bear to disturb her. So, she went to play nearby with her brother, Zhao Nuan Yang, and they waited to go home with their sister in the evening.

Zhao Nuanyue finished tidying up for Hua Yusen. Seeing that it was getting dark outside, she said, ”Hua, we’re finally engaged. This is what I’ve always dreamed of. I know you love me too. When you wake up and find out we’re engaged, you’ll be so happy.”

Hua Yusen remained comatose and could not reply to Zhao Nuanyue’s words.

But this didn’t diminish the joy and happiness in Zhao Nuanyue’s heart.

Little Red Carp had previously told her that Hua Yusen would wake up after he finished absorbing the Spiritual Power, so Zhao Nuanyue wasn’t worried at all.

To have an official status, to be with Hua Yusen legitimately—this was what she had always dreamed of, and now it had finally come true.

Sometimes, Zhao Nuanyue felt like she was in a daze, finding it hard to believe that she had actually done it.

This also made Zhao Nuanyue understand that since she had been reborn, she had to strive for a different life. If she just repeated the tragedies of her previous life, what would be the point of her rebirth? She might as well have just died and ended it all.

Her heart, once riddled with a thousand holes, had finally, slowly, begun to fully heal today, all because she now had an official tie to Hua Yusen.

When Zhao Nuanyue came out of Hua Yusen’s hospital room, she saw her brother and sister looking at her.

”Haven’t you two gone home yet? It’s so cold outside, why didn’t you come in?” Being stared at by her siblings, Zhao Nuanyue felt a little awkward, even a bit guilty. She had been so focused on Hua Yusen that she felt she had neglected her brother and sister.

”Sister, you’re engaged and got your wish, and we’re very happy for you,” Little Red Carp said, looking at her sister earnestly. ”But I want to tell you, love is only one part of life. You still have me and you still have Brother. So you should pay attention to us and love us too!” She was afraid that now that her sister was engaged, she would grow distant.

Hearing her sister’s words, Zhao Nuanyue didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She crouched down, hugged Little Red Carp, and said, ”Little Red Carp, you’re overthinking things. I was just so excited today, that’s why I didn’t pay as much attention to you and Nuanyang. But you two are the most important people to me! How could I not pay attention to you, care for you, and love you?”

At her sister’s words, Little Red Carp smiled and kissed her cheek. ”I knew you were the best, Sister! You dote on me the most. I told him not to worry, but Brother kept worrying that you wouldn’t love him anymore.”

Just like that, Little Red Carp had learned to pass the buck, throwing the blame directly onto her brother.

This time, it was Zhao Nuan Yang’s turn to not know whether to laugh or cry. ’She was clearly the one who didn’t want to leave, okay?’

”You little traitor, turning around and blaming me,” Zhao Nuan Yang said, pinching his sister’s chubby cheek. ”But today is Sister’s big day, so I won’t argue with you. I’ll let you little rascal get away with it for one day.”

”Hmph! I’m not admitting anything,” Little Red Carp said smugly. ”It’s getting cold now, let’s go home.”

Zhao Nuanyue nodded. This was a hospital; they couldn’t stay the night. Besides, she had Little Red Carp with her, so it was impossible for her to stay at the hospital with Hua Yusen.

They went back that evening. Madam Sun, Sun Haoran, and the other disciples all congratulated Zhao Nuanyue. To make Zhao Nuanyue even happier, Madam Sun even cooked another table full of dishes that night as a gesture of congratulations and blessing.
