Sweet Rebirth: The Little Healer

That may be so, but Feng Wanru was still deeply worried.

”But we’re bound to get old one day. When we pass away, Yu Sen will be all alone,” Feng Wanru sighed. ”I know Yu Lin and Yu Fen wouldn’t abandon their older brother, but all they could do is give him a place to sleep. They couldn’t really take care of him.”

Feng Wanru’s words left Hua Zhiqiang speechless as well.

After a long moment, Hua Zhiqiang looked at Feng Wanru and asked, ”Are you agreeing to our son’s relationship with Zhao Nuanyue?”

”Yes, I think I agree now,” Feng Wanru nodded. ”You can’t fake that kind of thoughtful care and affection for someone. It’s clear Zhao Nuanyue has love for Yu Sen in her heart, which is why she can dedicate herself to taking care of him completely. I know it’s selfish of me to hope Zhao Nuanyue will take care of my son, but I’m just an ordinary mother. I want to do everything I can to give my son the best.”

Hua Zhiqiang thought for a moment, then nodded. ”Alright. Since Zhao Nuanyue has feelings for Hua Yusen, I’ll go speak with Sun Haoran in a little while. He is Zhao Nuanyue’s master, after all. I’ll feel him out.”

”Yes. That girl values relationships and loyalty, so we can’t be disingenuous with her either,” Feng Wanru said. In her heart, she had already accepted Zhao Nuanyue.

「At the hospital, on the lawn.」

Liu Wenqiang was holding a shuttlecock and kicking it with Little Red Carp.

Little Red Carp was small, but her movements were nimble, and she could already kick it several times in a row.

On a bench at the edge of the lawn, Mr. Huang sat with his grandson, Leng Che, watching Little Red Carp play.

”Do you want to go play?” Mr. Huang asked. ”You can go over if you want.”

”That’s childish. No way.” Leng Che turned his head away, unwilling to go, but his dark eyes remained fixed on the happily playing Little Red Carp.

’Having such good hearing is so annoying.’

’Little Red Carp heard that little brat talking about her again. He actually called me childish! He’s the little brat, he’s the childish one!’

So, while kicking the shuttlecock, Little Red Carp stealthily approached Leng Che. When she was just over two meters away, she gave the shuttlecock a hard kick.

The shuttlecock flew toward Leng Che as if it had eyes, hitting him squarely on the forehead.

The bodyguards from a short distance away rushed over and stood in front of Leng Che.

Leng Che was so stunned he forgot the pain.

Mr. Huang was also taken aback for a moment. Seeing that his grandson wasn’t crying and that it was just a feathered shuttlecock, he treated it as simple child’s play and said with a chuckle, ”Heh, you can’t talk bad about people, can you!”

At that moment, Leng Che was thinking the exact same thing.

’All I said today was ”childish,” and that little girl heard me again.’

Seeing those men run over aggressively, Liu Wenqiang quickly came and scooped up Little Red Carp. He said irritably, ”It’s just kids playing around. Are you huge bodyguards going to pick on a three-year-old child?”

The bodyguards didn’t move. Even if they weren’t glaring at Little Red Carp, their gazes were unfriendly.

Seeing this, Mr. Huang chuckled and said, ”You don’t need to be so tense. It’s just children playing. Stand down.”

Only then did the bodyguards step back.

Little Red Carp paid no mind to the bodyguards; instead, she was glaring at Leng Che.

”Little Red Carp, why did you hit him with the shuttlecock?” Mr. Huang asked with a kind chuckle. Then, to Liu Wenqiang, ”Young man, don’t be nervous. I’m not making a big deal out of it.”

Hearing this, Liu Wenqiang finally relaxed.

Little Red Carp then retracted her big, bright eyes from glaring at Leng Che and said, ”Sir, you need to discipline your grandson properly. Last time he called me stupid, and this time he called me childish. I’m not stupid, and I’m not childish!”

”Haha!” Mr. Huang’s gaze on Little Red Carp grew even more curious. ”My, for a three-year-old little girl to be so articulate and have such sharp senses is truly rare!”

”Thank you for the compliment.” Hearing Mr. Huang’s praise, Little Red Carp was a little smug. ”But even though you praised me, I still have to criticize you. ’If the son is not taught, it is the father’s fault.’ You’re his grandfather, his elder. You have to educate your own child properly.”

”Alright, haha.” Mr. Huang was even more amused. He looked at his grandson, Leng Che. ”Che, do you think you were wrong?”

Leng Che pressed his lips together. He’d been called out. With a serious expression, he said, ”I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have called you childish behind your back.”

Seeing that Leng Che had apologized, Little Red Carp didn’t press the issue. With the magnanimous expression of a grown-up, she said, ”Then I forgive you. It was also wrong for me to hit you with the shuttlecock just now. I apologize to you too. And to make it up to you, I can teach you how to play!”

”Huh?” Leng Che was taken aback. He accepted the apology, but ’as for kicking a shuttlecock, there’s no way I’m doing that.’

Mr. Huang, on the other hand, hoped his grandson would play with Little Red Carp and experience the joy of being a child. He said, ”Go on, Che. Grandpa will be right here. I won’t go anywhere. Go play with Little Red Carp.”

”Do you think kicking a shuttlecock is childish?” Little Red Carp asked, displeased.

’It really is very childish.’

But Leng Che had just apologized. Admitting he thought it was childish now would be inappropriate.

”N-No, it’s not!” Leng Che replied. ”But...”

Little Red Carp struggled out of Liu Wenqiang’s arms, hopped over, and grabbed Leng Che’s hand. ”You said it’s not childish, and it’s really fun, so let’s play together.”

Her chubby little hand, warm and toasty, clasped Leng Che’s thin, cold one.

Normally, Leng Che hated being touched by others, but this time, he didn’t find it unpleasant. In fact, he found her little hand quite comfortable.

Seeing how proactive the adorable Little Red Carp was, Mr. Huang smiled even more kindly and coaxed, ”Go on, go on. Kids should play with other kids. What fun is it hanging around an old man like me!”

And just like that, Leng Che was dragged away by the enthusiastic Little Red Carp.

Little Red Carp held the shuttlecock and looked at Leng Che. ”Watch closely. You kick it like this.”

Leng Che watched the round Little Red Carp, who looked like a little ball as she lifted her short legs to kick the shuttlecock. He found it very amusing, and it reminded him of a fat white cat he had when he was little.

Little Red Carp kicked it a few times, then gave the shuttlecock to Leng Che.

”You kick it,” Little Red Carp said. ”Once you try, you’ll see how fun it is. When you learn, I’ll kick it to you, and you can kick it to me, okay?”

Looking at the feathered shuttlecock in his hand, Leng Che wanted to refuse.

But being watched by those big, bright eyes, Leng Che found he didn’t want to refuse anymore.

”Okay,” Leng Che replied, and then started to kick the shuttlecock.

At first, Leng Che didn’t know how, but after a few tries, he got the hang of it. He then took two or three steps back and kicked it to Little Red Carp.
