Sweet Rebirth: The Little Healer

”Haha!” Gu Qingyu heard Little Red Carp’s words and agreed wholeheartedly. ”That’s right, Yu Sen. We’ve already arranged your engagement to Nuanyue, but that doesn’t mean you can rest easy. After all, with a fiancée this beautiful, how can you not be worried?”

”Elder Gu!” Zhao Nuanyue became flustered. ”Little Red Carp is just talking nonsense. How could you join in on the teasing?”

”I’m not talking nonsense! Grandpa Gu is right. If he doesn’t wake up, his beautiful fiancée will be gone, his bright future will be gone, and he’ll just have to lie in bed pitifully for the rest of his life,” Little Red Carp said unforgivingly, her puffy, bun-like cheeks showing her anger. ”I may be young, but I absolutely will not allow my sister to waste her youth and her life.”

Little Red Carp’s words made Gu Qingyu sigh with emotion.

It was true. Even if Zhao Nuanyue’s feelings for Hua Yusen were deep, life was long. People buckle under loneliness and pressure. They change their minds; they give up on love.

”That’s right, Hua, you need to wake up. Your beloved is waiting for you, your parents are waiting for you, your friends are waiting, and I, your superior, am waiting for you. We’re supposed to build a new future together. This is our time to shine, and if you miss it, I’ll never be at ease, and you’ll regret it forever,” Gu Qingyu said with feeling. Seeing the situation turning so favorable while his most trusted subordinate lay unconscious was deeply frustrating for him.

After a period of dedicated care and recuperation, Hua Yusen could finally move his hands and feet, proof that he was recovering. Everyone was now saying these things specifically to provoke Hua Yusen and get him to wake up sooner.

Hearing the harsh words from Gu Qingyu, Little Red Carp, and the others made Zhao Nuanyue’s heart ache. She squeezed Hua Yusen’s hand tightly and said, ”Hua, they’re only trying to encourage you to wake up sooner. That’s why they’re saying these things to provoke you. You mustn’t be angry. No matter what, I, Zhao Nuanyue, will always be here with you.”

Hearing her sister say such things, Little Red Carp wore an expression of pure exasperation.

’This silly sister of mine. Even now, she can’t bear to provoke Hua Yusen.’

’The Hua Yusen lying in bed right now needs stimulation—strong stimulation—to wake up.’

Just as Zhao Nuanyue’s heart ached for him and she was about to offer more words of comfort, the large hand she was holding suddenly gripped hers back.

Zhao Nuanyue was stunned. She hurriedly said, ”Hua, are you awake? If you’re awake, please open your eyes and look at us!”

At that moment, Gu Qingyu and Little Red Carp also saw the change in Hua Yusen.

”Nuanyue, is Hua awake?” Gu Qingyu asked urgently, his face filled with concern as he moved closer to the hospital bed.

”He’s awake, he’s awake! He’s holding my hand! Look, look!” Zhao Nuanyue lifted their joined hands to prove she wasn’t lying.

”Wonderful, wonderful, that’s truly wonderful.” Gu Qingyu said quickly. The three ”wonderfuls” expressed his excitement. This was the subordinate he valued most, the person he trusted most.

Little Red Carp could clearly sense the change in Hua Yusen. He was about to wake up. She could finally relax; her silly sister’s wait was almost over.

Slowly, slowly, under everyone’s anxious gaze, Hua Yusen at long last opened his eyes.

Those eyes, which had been shut for so long, looked somewhat vacant as they stared at the ceiling.

”Hua, Hua, you’re awake! This is wonderful.” Zhao Nuanyue stood up excitedly and looked into Hua Yusen’s eyes.

Gu Qingyu and Little Red Carp also hurried to the bedside.

Hearing Zhao Nuanyue’s surprised and tearful voice, Hua Yusen slowly turned his head and said in a dry, hoarse voice, ”Silly girl. So silly.”

”As long as you’re awake, I don’t care if I’m silly for the rest of my life!” Zhao Nuanyue wept with joy, clutching Hua Yusen’s hand tightly and pressing it against her face.

”Hua, you’re finally awake,” Gu Qingyu said, his voice filled with emotion. He hadn’t expected Hua Yusen to actually wake up today. At that moment, some of the guilt in his heart lessened.

Hua Yusen’s gaze shifted from Zhao Nuanyue’s face to Gu Qingyu’s. He said guiltily, ”I’m sorry, Elder Gu. I didn’t complete my mission!”

”You have nothing to be sorry for. You already completed your mission, and you did so gloriously,” Gu Qingyu said slowly. ”Without you, I wouldn’t have escaped this time. Because of your outstanding performance, not only was I saved, but we were also able to seize the opportunity to suppress the Li family’s influence. The Hua family also took the chance to advance further. But you fell into a coma. We tried everything to treat you. Thankfully, you’ve finally woken up. This is wonderful, truly wonderful.”

”Hmph. So you see Grandpa Gu and my silly sister, but you don’t see me?” Little Red Carp said in a huff. ’If it weren’t for me, he wouldn’t have even dreamed of waking up.’

Hearing Little Red Carp’s words, Hua Yusen didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. For the past two days, he had been able to hear everyone’s voices but couldn’t open his eyes. Therefore, he had heard all the stimulating and encouraging words Little Red Carp had said before.

”Thank you, Little Red Carp. Thank you, Nuanyue. Thank you, Nuanyang,” Hua Yusen said softly. But having just woken up, he was too exhausted and slowly closed his eyes again.

Zhao Nuanyue thought Hua Yusen was falling back into a coma and hurriedly shook him. ”Hua, wake up! Don’t go to sleep, wake up!”

”I’m just a little tired, not unconscious,” Hua Yusen said with a wry smile. His long coma had clearly frightened Nuanyue.

Meanwhile, Doctor Wu and Sun Haoran, who had examined him earlier, had returned to their office to discuss the next stage of treatment. When they suddenly heard the news that Hua Yusen had woken up, they rushed into the ward.

Hua Yusen managed to answer a few of their questions before drifting off to sleep.

After examining Hua Yusen’s physical and mental condition, Sun Haoran and Doctor Wu were overjoyed. This time, Hua Yusen had truly made a full recovery. Moreover, his physical condition was even better than before, a point that left them completely baffled.

How could a comatose person’s body possibly be better than before? His muscle structure, in particular, was now approaching perfection. They estimated that once Hua Yusen woke again and rested for a few more days, he would be able to leave the hospital.

Seeing that Hua Yusen was asleep, Gu Qingyu led everyone out of the room. Even Zhao Nuanyue was told to come out to let Hua Yusen get some proper rest.

Once outside, Gu Qingyu looked at Sun Haoran and asked, ”How is Hua, really? Will he make a full recovery?”

Gu Qingyu was afraid this was just a flash in the pan. If Hua Yusen didn’t wake up again, they would only be met with disappointment once more.

Sun Haoran was also very happy. His good apprentice, Zhao Nuanyue, had not wasted her heartfelt devotion. This time, the destined lovers could finally be together.
