Sweet Rebirth: The Little Healer

The Guo Family is certainly riding high these days!

”I know.” Zhao Nuanyue nodded. ”You told me as soon as I got back. It’s just that I ran into Guo Dongmei today. She looked absolutely furious when she saw me and spouted a bunch of nonsense. Logically, since she’s trying to marry into the Li family right now, she should be keeping a very low profile, not acting like a shrew and lashing out at everyone.”

”Heh!” Sun Haoran couldn’t help but shake his head and laugh. ”So that’s what happened. Your guess was right. Although the Guo Family broke off the engagement with the Hua family, the Li family’s second son, Li Gongming, never got engaged to Guo Dongmei. Instead, the Li family has been getting close to the Wu Family, and Li Gongming’s relationship with Wu Jingjing is quite ambiguous. So things aren’t going smoothly for Guo Dongmei, and she’s furious about it. She probably saw you and wanted to vent.”

Zhao Nuanyue laughed. ”I see. No wonder. She came looking for trouble with me today. At first, I didn’t want to waste my breath on her, but the more she talked, the more outrageous she became. I ended up saying some things that really set her off, and she threatened to get revenge on me.”

”When did this happen?” Sun Haoran asked curiously.

”Just this afternoon. I was leaving the hospital, and... well, that woman has such a short fuse, she actually got so angry she drove her car into a wall,” Zhao Nuanyue said in a low voice. ”If I had known she was going to have such bad luck, I wouldn’t have said anything to her.”

”Haha!” Sun Haoran laughed. ”So she ran into you right before her car accident! No wonder she was still cursing up a storm even after she got to the hospital. Her temper is terrible. The Li family may not be saints, but even they wouldn’t want a woman like that. She doesn’t even have the sense to hide her true colors until *after* she marries into the family.”

Seeing that her master wasn’t angry and wasn’t scolding her, Zhao Nuanyue felt a bit uneasy. She asked cautiously, ”Master, will this cause trouble for you?”

”Heh, the Guo Family’s methods are just a bunch of low-class tricks. I’m not afraid,” Sun Haoran smiled. ”As for that Guo Dongmei, don’t you worry about her. Even the Li family wouldn’t dare make any rash moves, let alone the Guo Family. By the way, Elder Gu mentioned you and Little Red Carp this morning. When he has some free time, I’ll take you two to visit him.”

”Elder Gu? Is he doing well?” Zhao Nuanyue asked. ”I don’t understand politics, so I can’t help with that, but I believe our group will get better and better.”

”Yes, it will get better and better.” Sun Haoran nodded. ”Everything is starting to fall into place, but we still need to be cautious.”

”Okay, let’s keep up the good work then,” Zhao Nuanyue said encouragingly. ”Master, Little Red Carp wasn’t feeling well this afternoon, so I took her back to my residence to rest. That’s why I didn’t go to Immortal Grass Hall.”

Sun Haoran smiled and said, ”I know. Your master’s wife told me. She also wanted me to tell you that you have great aptitude, but you must also work hard to become a renowned doctor one day.”

”I’m sorry to have worried her,” Zhao Nuanyue said, feeling guilty. ”I’ll work harder from now on. I definitely won’t be late or leave early again.”

Sun Haoran nodded. ”Nuanyue, you have great talent and a kind heart. Don’t waste your precious time. You must study hard to achieve something. I know you young people might get tired of hearing this, but as your master, I have to say it. A woman, even after she’s married and has her own family, must not neglect her career.”

”Yes, Master, I know,” Zhao Nuanyue agreed. ”I love Hua Yusen, but I won’t give up the work I love and the skills I’ve learned just for him.”

”Good, good.” Sun Haoran was very pleased, hoping that his disciple could truly live up to her words. If she did, her future achievements would be incredible.

After Zhao Nuanyue returned, she carefully mulled over what her master had said about Guo Dongmei.

’Guo Dongmei might not make any big moves, but petty ones are another story.’

’Especially since she knows I don’t get along with my stepfather’s family. Guo Dongmei might use them to make my life miserable.’

’What should I do about this?’

Seeing his sister’s brow furrowed in a deep frown, Zhao Nuan Yang stopped painting and asked, ”Sister, is something wrong?”

”It’s nothing major, don’t worry about me.” Zhao Nuanyue smiled. ”Nuanyang, how’s your work going? Do you like it?”

Zhao Nuan Yang’s face lit up with a smile. ”I love it! I really love this job. I’m learning a lot of techniques for restoring paintings, as well as some painting techniques.”

”As long as you like it, that’s what matters.” Zhao Nuanyue nodded. ”The museum has many wonderful things, but they belong to the country, not to us. So you must never, ever take anything home just because you like it.”

”Mmm, I know.” Zhao Nuan Yang nodded. ”They’re not mine, so I won’t take them.”

”That’s right. Nuanyang is the best,” Zhao Nuanyue said with a laugh. ”Master is a bit busy lately, and Mr. Hu hasn’t been feeling well. Once Master has treated him, he’ll take you to officially become his apprentice.”

Hearing this, Zhao Nuan Yang grew even happier.

Mr. Hu was, after all, the most famous contemporary master of calligraphy and painting, a man of both talent and integrity.

”Okay, I’ll wait patiently,” Zhao Nuan Yang said, nodding excitedly. ”Sister, we’re already doing pretty well, but if we keep working hard, we can definitely achieve great things in the future.”

Zhao Nuanyue nodded. ”Yes, we’re both amazing! Let’s do our best.”

Little Red Carp, hearing this, quickly raised a paw and said, ”I’ll do my best too! I want to become the most beautiful person in the world, the most famous woman! I want to own the world’s most beautiful jewelry! I want all the fun things...”

’Er... Little Red Carp certainly has lofty ambitions.’

’But that’s fine. There’s nothing wrong with having huge goals. If by some chance she achieves them, it’s a huge win.’

”Let’s work hard together.” Zhao Nuanyue held out her hand. Zhao Nuan Yang placed his hand on top of hers, followed by Little Red Carp’s hand. ”Let’s go!”

Then the three of them—brother and sisters—all laughed.

As usual, Zhao Nuanyue took Little Red Carp to the hospital with her in the morning. This time, however, Little Red Carp didn’t have any playmates, so she could only follow Zhao Nuanyue into the hospital room.

Luckily, Little Red Carp had brought a Nutcracker with her. Liu Wenqiang had bought it for her as a gift.

Little Red Carp loved it and took it with her almost everywhere.

Today, after Zhao Nuanyue finished washing up Hua Yusen, she gave him a massage and read him the newspaper.

No tears, no sighs. Just calmly and peacefully keeping Hua Yusen company.

Noting it was already eleven o’clock, Zhao Nuanyue left with Little Red Carp. Once downstairs, she spotted Guo Dongmei in a wheelchair with a brace around her neck. It seemed she’d sprained it.

’I still have to take Little Red Carp to my residence at Qingya Lake to cultivate; I don’t have time to bicker with this woman.’

However, Guo Dongmei had already spotted Zhao Nuanyue. It was an unavoidable encounter, and she certainly wasn’t going to let Zhao Nuanyue leave so easily.
