The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1490: Chapter 1490: Soul Artifact Manufacturing

”Wait, come back, we still need to discuss...” Professor Ye Hong, thin and elderly, looked like he could be blown over by the wind, yet he walked very quickly, leaving the archives room in the blink of an eye.

Seeing this, Ji You’s voice caught in her throat, and her heart tightened a bit.

So, the old man looks frail, but he’s actually quite robust, isn’t he? Otherwise, how could he run so fast?

Ji You muttered, lowered her head, and touched the black notebook cover with her hand. Then she opened the notebook, glanced briefly, and found that the notes had clearly been organized, very much in Professor Ye Hong’s meticulous style. It was not a casual scribble but deliberately arranged. The first page contained a neatly written table of contents, followed by pages of notes, with some places even specially annotated.

After reading it, Ji You silently acknowledged in her heart that the old professor, though temperamental, was truly dedicated to teaching and was undoubtedly a passionate and conscientious teacher. Ji You silently said a word of thanks in her heart.

With this notebook, Ji You could expand her thinking on material processing and maybe really find something about soul artifact manufacturing.

Ji You was very pleased.

Within the spirit space.

In the enclosed space, after hearing her sister speak to her, Xiao You felt eager for the first time, craning her neck, waiting for her sister to pass the notebook to her, waiting and waiting...

Her sister still hadn’t passed it.

Xiao You stood up and began pacing around the Iron Plate Space.

Then.

She heard her sister’s crisp laughter: ”Xiao You, it’s the first time I’ve seen you so anxious. Even yesterday when we teamed up to eat braised pork ribs, you weren’t this eager.”

Xiao You blushed, [Sister, I want to see Professor Ye’s notebook.]

As a student in the Material Processing Department, and one extremely gifted and passionate about it, how could Xiao You not be anxious?

Ji You said, ”Wait a bit, once we’re back at the dorm, I’ll send the notebook to you.”

Xiao You stayed in the Iron Plate Space, which was hidden in Ji You’s spiritual space. Their communication required spiritual power, so transferring things was very convenient. As long as Ji You saw something, she could transfer it to Xiao You through the spiritual connection, and Xiao You would understand it perfectly.

However, it consumed a lot of spiritual power. With Ji You’s current spiritual level, she couldn’t easily or continuously pass things to Xiao You.

Therefore, most of the time, Xiao You stayed alone in the spirit space, waiting for Ji You to contact her.

Lonely?

It used to be lonely, but not anymore.

Xiao You’s eyes sparkled, calmly waiting for her sister to pass it over.

Ji You left the archives room. Knowing Xiao You was anxious, she wasn’t stingy. She directly found a self-service floating car and sped back to the dorm area in under a minute.

Ji You pushed open the door, rushed inside, collapsed onto the sofa, and began transferring the notebook’s content to Xiao You bit by bit.

After the transfer, Xiao You immediately began devouring the content, not even hearing Ji You speak to her.

Ji You’s lips curled up slightly: ”Hmph! Old Man Ye, you didn’t expect this, did you? I’m a cheat, there’s no way you’ll stress me out in just three days!”

As Professor Ye Hong was walking, he suddenly sneezed. Did he catch a cold? He frowned, thinking, how could he catch a cold wearing constant temperature clothing?

Professor Ye Hong continued walking and returned to his laboratory to begin his research.

...

Xiao You started studying, and of course, Ji You was busy too. She began following her previous plan to draw the first array diagram she acquired from the iron plate, which was a very simple triangle.

She drew it on a piece of white paper.

Without using spiritual power, the triangular shape was just an ordinary figure, looking extremely plain and unremarkable, not worthy of even a second glance.

Ji You stared at it for a moment to confirm. Then she selected a new sheet, about 2 cm thick, which couldn’t be penetrated by a pen tip.

Then.

Ji You cast aside all distractions from her mind and focused on sketching the complete triangular array diagram in her head.

She settled her mind and began drawing, holding the pen lightly at her fingertips. The first stroke was smooth, quickly drawn, and the pen continued...

This was Ji You’s first attempt at sketching an array diagram without using a suitable soul artifact medium. She wasn’t nervous but instructed the Fifth to follow her plan. Inside the spirit space, the Fifth nodded and swayed along with Ji You’s pen movements.

When the triangular outline appeared on the thick paper, Ji You’s heart leaped. The Fifth swayed and suddenly slipped!

Crack~

A crisp sound came from the thick paper. Ji You looked down to find it cracked in several places. As for the array diagram, it hadn’t formed.

Ji You frowned.

Is it really impossible for the array diagram to exist independently? Must it rely on a medium? In this way, wouldn’t the diagram be a complete soul artifact?

No.

That can’t be right.

Because other soul artifact makers definitely have set array diagrams they can use when making soul artifacts. But soul artifact makers are rare, each with different methods, and most are very secretive, only passing their knowledge to their students. So Ji You couldn’t rely on others for reference.

Such a large archives room, yet there wasn’t a trace of related knowledge, which disappointed Ji You greatly.

Staring at the cracked thick paper, Ji You pondered for a while but had to abandon this material.

Then.

After some thought, Ji You took a large piece of ore from the Space Button. It was an abandoned companion stone, a black piece roughly the size of a basketball.

Ji You grabbed her grinding tools from the workbench and began cutting the companion stone.

Her idea was that since the companion stone could carry an array diagram and serve as a soul artifact’s medium, she could grind this black companion stone to notebook size and use it to draw the array diagram. Shouldn’t that work?

Crack~

Crack~

Crack~

In the dorm, with bright lights, Ji You quietly cut the companion stone, only the sound of the cutting machine could be heard. After about an hour, Ji You finally stopped.

This basketball-sized companion stone, after Ji You’s cutting, turned into six pieces, each about 4 cm thick.

Ji You examined them for a moment, then began work again.

This time, Ji You again enlisted the help of the Fifth. Among the six spiritual silks, although the Fifth wasn’t the most meticulous or powerful, it was the most honest. Whatever Ji You instructed, the Fifth would strictly adhere to, never playing tricks.

Thinking of this, Ji You glanced at the Fourth, nestled on the Sixth’s head, sleeping with its body coiled. The Fourth shivered and instinctively spoke:

[Sisi loves Master the most.]

See—

Still so glib.
