The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1463: Chapter 1463: An Idea

One family.

Yeah.

She and her sister had always been one family.

Xiao You silently repeated the words ”one family” several times in her heart, still feeling sweet inside. That feeling of being lonely for so long and finally having family—it turned out to be so wonderful.

After basking in that sweetness all by herself for quite a while, Xiao You finally calmed her excitement. Then she lifted her head and stared seriously at the only light source in the darkness, saying: [Sister, how about this—if we want to test whether our guess is correct, we can divide it into two steps.]

”Mm?” Ji You said, ”Go on.”

Xiao You thought for a bit, then said softly: [In the short term, we can’t, and don’t have the means, to buy more Soul Devices to charge Iron. So step one is to think of other ways to charge Iron, try to let it stay out a little longer. That way you can observe more Array Diagrams, which will help improve the success rate and efficiency of Soul Device Manufacturing.]

Ji You said, ”Other ways... I’ve thought about that before.”

Aside from Soul Devices being able to charge the Iron Plate, there was another way: to look for more Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures, like Sparrow Yellow and other special items.

Especially those special items of her own. Ji You still remembered that when she caught that unknown special item, the Iron Plate snatched it away in one bite, not giving the Six Spiritual Threads any reaction time at all. You had to know how sharp those Six Spiritual Threads were. Even while all Six Spiritual Threads were staring at it with full concentration, the Iron Plate still managed to eat that special item clean, without leaving the Six Strands even a speck of residue.

You had to know, back when it ate natural food, Candy Beans, Cloud Mist Milk Tea, High-level Soul Devices... Iron would eat the meat itself but still remember to leave some soup for the Six Strands.

Yet for that fingernail-sized special item, the Iron Plate not only didn’t leave any soup, it didn’t even give the Sisis a chance to take a single look.

It was simply—

Ji You was convinced that nothing in this world could be more attractive to the Iron Plate than those special items.

But!

Finding this sort of thing was harder than winning hundreds of billions in the lottery.

Ji You felt a bit depressed and said to Xiao You, ”I heard Teacher Mu say there might be a lot of good stuff in Space Rifts. Things like Sparrow Yellow—if we’re lucky we might pick up a piece, and if our luck totally explodes, we might even find a special item.”

Xiao You nodded hard: [Mm! Our luck is definitely going to be especially good.]

Then—

Xiao You went on: [Step two, we need to make more Soul Devices, and it’d be best to hand them over to Spicy Eye, Jiaojiao and the others for experiments. We’re about to enter a Space Rift, and I heard it’s very dangerous. Sister, make a few more for them to carry. First, it’ll help them defend themselves; second, they can help test our hypothesis.]

Ji You laughed and said, ”That’s what I was thinking too. About how my Soul Devices only show that life-saving effect in critical moments if there are three or more of them, and they also have to be very high quality.”

[Or maybe they also have requirements on the users’ talent?] Xiao You raised a question, then continued: [Spicy Eye, Jiaojiao, Xiaoqing... they’re all outstanding among the younger generation. Is it only when they use the Soul Devices that they can bring out the maximum effect? Or can people with average talent also get the same effect?]

Ji You frowned and said, ”When you put it that way, there’s too much that needs verifying. Let’s take it step by step.”

Xiao You: [Mm!]

Ji You laughed and said, ”Let’s just do this then: we find more test subjects... cough, I mean more people to help us do experiments. Only with multi-sided verification can we get real conclusions.”

Xiao You was very supportive. As long as it was her sister’s decision, there was nothing she wouldn’t support. But... at the same time she was worried: [Sister, but you can’t mass-produce Soul Devices. That way, the scope and sample size of the experiments can’t be expanded.]

If getting experimental results meant sacrificing Sister Ji You’s health, Xiao You would rather not have them!

In this world, no one was more important than her sister.

”That is a problem.” Ji You pondered for a moment, then suddenly said, ”Xiao You, I have an idea. If this idea is really put into practice, we can rapidly expand the sample size of the experiments and benefit more people.”

Xiao You asked: [What idea?]

In Xiao You’s eyes, her sister was omnipotent. Anything that looked extremely troublesome—once it landed in her sister’s hands, there would definitely be a way. Her sister’s brain ran wild, full of whimsical ideas, always brimming with energy...

Ji You narrowed her eyes and said, ”This idea might look really stupid in a lot of people’s eyes. If everyone else succeeds, we’ll lose out, maybe even take a huge loss. But that’s not important—the important thing is the result.”

Huh?

Xiao You got even more nervous. She raised her head, a little agitated, looking at the light source above the enclosed space. That was her sister’s spiritual power.

Ji You deliberated for a moment before saying solemnly, ”I’m planning to make public all the Array Diagrams I currently know.”

Xiao You: [!!!]

Xiao You: [Sister!!!]

How important Array Diagrams were was something universally acknowledged in the Soul Artifact Manufacturing World. Some soul artifact makers even hid their tricks jealously, unwilling to share their methods, especially Array Diagrams, which they guarded fiercely.

And her sister wanted to publish them?

This—

This would probably be something with an extremely huge and far-reaching impact on the entire Soul Artifact Manufacturing World and everyone in it.

Ji You kept a straight face and said, ”Stay calm, don’t panic. I’m making them public not just for others, but also for ourselves.”

Xiao You: ”But...”

If everyone else learned her sister’s manufacturing methods and could all improve their success rates, what would happen to her sister’s Soul Device sales?

Ji You smiled and said, ”We can take it step by step. First we set some conditions; we don’t publicize them to everyone right away. We first choose a specific group of people to share with, for example industry-recognized Soul Artifact Masters like Master Kong Zhe. Once they have results, we expand the scope...”

”In short, we expand little by little.” Ji You rubbed her chin and said, ”Tell me, what price should I set?”

[Pri... price?] Xiao You froze for a second, not reacting right away: [Sister, are you planning to charge people?]

She... she had thought her sister was going to release them for free.

”Cough, cough...” Ji You straightened her face and said seriously, ”What do you mean charge? Saying ’charge’ sounds too distant. We call it a learning fee, got it? Knowledge has value. You have to pay a little sincerity before we pass it on to others, understand?”

[Oh... oh...] Xiao You nodded. She understood.

Basically, it was just the kind of stuff her sister always talked about from the business world.

Hearing Xiao You’s tone, Ji You couldn’t help straightening her face again and said, ”Cough, cough... Xiao You, you don’t get it. Sometimes the free stuff is actually the most expensive. If you tell people you’re giving something away for free, they might not even want it, and could even think you’ve got bad intentions and want to harm them. But if you say you’re selling it to them, they’ll probably let down their guard. Get it?”

Xiao You: [???]
