The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1469: Chapter 1469: Black Liquid

I can’t figure out Principal Hong and Dr. Luo’s thought processes, but Ji You thought with a more cautious attitude, she should report the collective deaths of the black bears to Principal Hong and Dr. Luo.

The result?

Couldn’t find Dr. Luo, and couldn’t get through on the communicator.

Principal Hong did get in contact, but—

Principal Hong said, ”If they’re dead, they’re dead. Just saves the trouble.”

Ji You and the others: ”...”

This attitude is really beyond criticism.

But this also shows the seriousness of the problem. Principal Hong deliberately said this, deliberately using this uncaring attitude, either intentionally making Ji You and others not care.

Or, Principal Hong really doesn’t care.

Unable to understand Principal Hong’s train of thought, Ji You simply stopped thinking about his attitude problem, thought for a while, and then asked, ”Are you deciding to continue investigating? Or give up?”

Chu Jiaojiao said, ”Continue!”

Shen Changqing thought for a moment and said, ”Since we’re already here, let’s keep looking. Even if we can’t find anything, at least look for characteristics, patterns, and quick, effective countermeasures for these black bears... those would also be good.”

Sheng Qingyan lifted her eyelids, yawned, and said, ”Whatever you all do, just don’t disturb my sleep.”

Liu Fufeng opened her pretty eyes and said, ”I want to know.”

Ji You said, ”Spicy Eye’s vote doesn’t count, since you all want to investigate, let’s continue.” She wanted to investigate too, at least like Shen Changqing said, find some patterns or such, so if they encounter similar Star Beasts in the future, they can take the right measures immediately.

Next.

Ji You frowned, thought for a moment, and said, ”We’ve sorted through the entire mine’s layout, but haven’t found any problems. Do you think we might have had a misconception in our thinking?”

Searching for the mine map yielded no useful information. They only knew that the vein of garbage planet 381 belonged to Cheng Yu’s Cheng Family, whose business is quite diverse: besides mining, they have agriculture, materials, and so on...

In short, Cheng Family’s business is quite varied, but Cheng Family is just an ordinary wealthy family on the Alliance Main Star. They got rich suddenly by luck, and are not an ancient, long-standing noble family.

This was an unexpected discovery.

Let’s skip over it.

What Ji You and others wanted to know was just the truth about the black bear collective deaths.

After listening to Ji You, everyone fell into thought. Chu Jiaojiao was very troubled and said, ”What exactly is the reason? I’m really impatient with this kind of thinking.”

But there’s no choice—for the safety of everyone, it’s necessary to understand.

Chu Jiaojiao walked around the mine they were in, Shen Changqing stood quietly, glanced unintentionally at Chu Jiaojiao, and suddenly his eyes lit up. He said, ”We came in from the mine entrance to here, and didn’t see any traces of black bears along the way. This indicates there should be nothing in the mine that attracts the black bears. So, is it possible that the things are outside the mine?”

”Ah?” Chu Jiaojiao clapped her hands, ”Yeah! Why didn’t I think of that?”

Ji You’s eyes also instantly lit up, ”We really were caught in a thinking trap. Let’s go! Let’s go out of the mine and see.”

Chu Jiaojiao and Shen Changqing had gone deep in for quite some distance, it would take some time to get out, both were a bit anxious and hurried hastily out.

Ji You advised, ”Safety first, be careful.”

Shen Changqing, Chu Jiaojiao: ”Mm.”

Their steps did not stop, but they were more careful and cautious. Just a few steps out, they encountered a fat Carrion Rat, roughly estimated to be Level 3!

This Carrion Rat was hiding in a small pit in the mine, and Chu Jiaojiao’s foot almost stepped on it. Luckily she found it in time, otherwise, she might have been ambushed. Chu Jiaojiao and Shen Changqing jointly took it down.

Next.

The two were even more cautious. The journey was uneventful, and they finally got out of the mine.

Once outside, they faced heaps of black bear corpses. Shen Changqing and Chu Jiaojiao upgraded their protective clothing again before boarding their respective mechas.

Ji You said, ”Be careful, prioritize your own safety.”

”Mm.”

”Don’t worry.”

Shen Changqing and Chu Jiaojiao piloted their mechas, spreading mechanical arms to clear the black bear corpses piled near the cave entrance to the other side. After a few minutes, they finally cleared them all.

Then.

The ground revealed a pool of black liquid, mixed with the blood of the black bears, already blended. But this black liquid was really peculiar. Even mixed with the bears’ red blood, it immediately caught the observers’ attention.

Chu Jiaojiao, Shen Changqing, Ji You, and Liu Fufeng outside the screen all widened their eyes.

Chu Jiaojiao asked, ”What is this?”

Shen Changqing shook his head.

Ji You said, ”Don’t touch it with your hands! Be careful to isolate yourselves from it.”

As everyone spoke, the black liquid was gradually melting, dissolving at a speed visible to the eye.

Ji You looked up to the sky, discovered that the speed of the black liquid dissolving sped up when exposed to direct sunlight, and thus quickly instructed, ”Find something to block the light.”

Chu Jiaojiao immediately took out an automatic umbrella, suspending it above the black liquid, and sure enough, the dissolution speed slowed down.

For some unknown reason, Ji You had a strong feeling, an intuition urging her to collect some of the liquid. She brushed aside her inexplicable feeling, took a look at it rationally, and then said, ”Let’s collect a little. Shen Changqing has a sealed container I gave him earlier that can hold all kinds of highly corrosive gases and liquids. It should be able to store some.”

Shen Changqing said, ”I also think we should collect some. I found a slight trace of biological aura in this liquid—not much. This aura is very faint, but it indeed belongs to some creature. This creature might be an unknown species.”

Science needs to advance, continuously probing into the unknown.

Ji You said, ”Then let’s collect some.”

Next.

Shen Changqing and Chu Jiaojiao carefully collected a bit of the liquid into a sealed container to analyze later on.

Shen Changqing had just stored away the sealed bottle and saw the pool of black liquid had already disappeared more than half. Estimating it, in at most half a minute, the liquid would vanish completely.

Just then, a few black bears suddenly rushed out of the forest. They were all low-level, estimated to be only Level 1 or 2. They didn’t even glance at Shen Changqing, Chu Jiaojiao, or Ji You, charging directly towards the black liquid, and then, lowering their heads, began frantically licking!

After just a few licks, the black bears’ bodies suddenly shook and then exploded!

Ji You and others: ”!!!”
