The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1466: Chapter 1466: Liu Fufeng’s Change

The five people responsible for the night watch were Ji You, Chu Jiaojiao, Sheng Qingyan, Shen Changqing, and Liu Fufeng. As dawn arrived, a thick fog surrounded them, obscuring distant scenery. Chu Jiaojiao approached Ji You and said, ”Ji You, good morning. Spicy Eye and I discovered something strange.”

Ji You asked, ”What is it?”

Noticing Liu Fufeng sitting nearby, Chu Jiaojiao greeted him with a cheerful smile, ”Good morning, Student Fufeng. How’s your health?”

Unexpectedly receiving a response, Liu Fufeng said, ”Thanks to you, I’m still alive.”

Chu Jiaojiao: ”...”

Chu Jiaojiao burst into laughter, finding this version of Liu Fufeng more endearing than before. In the past, she couldn’t see through Liu Fufeng at all, but now he seemed much simpler and clearer.

Raising her hand, Chu Jiaojiao patted Liu Fufeng’s shoulder, encouragingly, ”Young man, keep living, strive to live beautifully and joyfully.”

Hearing Chu Jiaojiao’s hearty laugh and her kind words, Liu Fufeng couldn’t help but think to himself that the people of Lanyue Star were always ready to give others a pep talk, Ji You was like that, and so was Chu Jiaojiao. However, it didn’t feel bad.

Liu Fufeng muttered softly, ”I will.”

His voice was tiny, almost as faint as a mosquito.

After speaking, Liu Fufeng raised his head, earnestly looking at Chu Jiaojiao and Ji You.

Ji You asked, ”What strange thing?”

Her task was to guard the 1000 meters of land around the spaceship, so she hadn’t left that perimeter from night till now.

Chu Jiaojiao said, ”Those black bears disappeared overnight. At first, we could hear their faint roars, but later, they completely vanished. Spicy Eye and I found it a bit strange, so we gathered our courage and searched around but found nothing.”

Ji You furrowed her brow, ”Not a single one?”

Chu Jiaojiao nodded, ”Mm, not a single one.”

”Indeed, it’s very strange.” Ji You thought for a moment and said, ”Yesterday when we were in danger, those swarming black bears couldn’t have vanished without a reason. Unless they grew wings and flew away, they couldn’t really disappear, or they’re hiding underground or in caves...”

Chu Jiaojiao said, ”That’s what I think too, unless they grew wings, they couldn’t truly vanish without a trace. Do you know how far Spicy Eye and I explored just now?”

Ji You looked up, ”How far?”

Chu Jiaojiao said, ”100 kilometers.”

Ji You furrowed her brow, ”How many?”

Chu Jiaojiao said, ”The number you heard isn’t wrong.”

Exploring within a hundred kilometers in all directions, and still not seeing any black bears, that was indeed very strange.

Ji You, hearing this, also fell into distress.

Beside them, Liu Fufeng, who had been quietly listening, suddenly said, ”They’re all dead.”

”What!”

”Huh?!”

Ji You and Chu Jiaojiao thought they misheard and looked at Liu Fufeng. His beautiful face had an unhealthy pallor, which had never improved. At first, Ji You and Chu Jiaojiao didn’t notice, until a thin layer of sweat appeared on Liu Fufeng’s forehead. Ji You’s pupils shrank, ”Are you using spiritual power?”

Liu Fufeng swayed and nearly fell onto Ji You. She quickly drew the big chopper from her back and steadied Liu Fufeng’s body with the flat of the blade.

Liu Fufeng: ”...”

A familiar scene, unexpectedly within reason.

Wondering when Ji You would personally lend him a hand, this thought and expectation were now gone for Liu Fufeng. He hadn’t fallen on purpose; it was due to lack of strength.

Looking at Ji You’s weapon glinting coldly, Liu Fufeng steadied himself and sincerely said, ”Thank you for your blade, Ji You.”

Ji You: ”...”

Ji You retracted the blade with a smile, ”You’re welcome, next time too.”

Liu Fufeng: ”...”

Liu Fufeng muttered, ”I don’t want to fall at any time or anywhere, nor do I want a next time.” After all, being supported by a cold big chopper wasn’t a very delightful experience.

Seeing Liu Fufeng looking a bit better, Ji You asked, ”What did you discover?”

Liu Fufeng rubbed his brow with his hand and said softly, ”Northeast direction, about 150 kilometers away, there’s an abandoned mine. Near the mine, there are many black bear corpses.”

After saying this, large beads of sweat appeared on Liu Fufeng’s forehead, and his body swayed even more. Just then, seeing Ji You about to swing her blade again, Liu Fufeng quickly stood upright.

Ji You’s hand paused on the hilt, then nonchalantly withdrew it, ”Too much is as bad as too little, don’t use your spiritual power anymore.”

Liu Fufeng: ”Okay.”

This was the first time Liu Fufeng openly used spiritual power in front of others, but the moment Ji You and Chu Jiaojiao sensed his spiritual power fluctuations, their experience was very unpleasant. How to describe it? It was like suddenly standing under thunder, surrounded by flashing lightning, much worse than the feeling of standing on the edge of a cliff.

Chu Jiaojiao patted her chest, feeling lingering fear.

Ji You frowned; it was only then that she fully understood what Little Golden Dragon meant when he warned her: don’t get too close to Liu Fufeng, he’s like a bomb ready to go off at any moment.

It’s more than just a bomb!

It’s practically a cosmic storm!

Ji You and Chu Jiaojiao exchanged glances, neither having the desire to probe Liu Fufeng’s secrets. Both spoke simultaneously, ”I’ll go to the mine?”

Seeing the bumpy face of Ji You, Chu Jiaojiao felt quite sorry, not knowing when Ji You would have the time to fix her face, sigh!

Then, Chu Jiaojiao volunteered, ”Ji You, you stay near the spaceship, I’ll go. I’ll be back in about 5 minutes.”

Ji You thought for a moment, ”Let Shen Changqing go with you.”

Shen Changqing was meticulous and had a broad range of knowledge, able to identify some clues when checking the black bear corpses.

Thinking of this, Chu Jiaojiao nodded, ”Alright.”

Chu Jiaojiao didn’t delay, quickly explaining to Shen Changqing, and the two soon took out the Mecha’s space button, swiftly leaving piloting the Mecha.

Ji You wasn’t so optimistic; she recalled Principal Hong mentioning the word ’discourse.’ Rationality told her not to bother with these black bears or explore the potential organization behind them...

But!

This was already the second time!

Ji You’s eyes darkened.

The first time was on Bee Head Star, encountering a swarm of Black Stinging Bees. There was also an abandoned laboratory underground at that time.

The second time was with the black bear swarm. Coincidentally, there was also a secret laboratory deep in the junkyard.

This was the second encounter with what seemed to be artificially manufactured Star Beasts, making Ji You on guard. Even if she didn’t wish to touch them or be involved, she should have some defensive measures. Otherwise, encountering a few more of these man-made Star Beast incidents, she might end up losing her life.
