The Interstellar Queen of Scavengers

Chapter 1478: Chapter 1478: Yu Song’s Opportunity

Principal Hong stood with his hands behind his back inside the spaceship cabin, gazing through the transparent window at the distant, shadowy jungle.

Behind him, came the sound of light footsteps.

”Have you found out?” Principal Hong asked without turning his head.

Dr. Luo stopped and said in a low voice, ”I’ve roughly understood, preliminarily confirmed.”

Principal Hong turned his head, frowning, ”Where are they from?”

Dr. Luo furrowed his brows and replied, ”The other party is very cautious, always on guard against everyone. I indirectly asked all the spaceship passengers. The owner of the first private profit spaceship to arrive used to be from the Third Star System, a retired veteran.”

Upon hearing this, Principal Hong raised an eyebrow slightly, ”A retired veteran? Now, that’s interesting.”

Dr. Luo’s face was stern, ”Yes, it’s indeed very interesting. Has the military started to take sides too?”

Principal Hong didn’t answer this question, ”Is there any issue with the identity of the ship’s owner?”

Dr. Luo said sternly, ”I checked, and there’s no issue with the ship owner’s identity. He’s indeed a veteran who retired from the front line of the Third Star System.”

”The Third Army.” Upon hearing this, Principal Hong said in a deep voice, ”Which year did he retire?”

Dr. Luo replied, ”1287.”

”Twenty years ago.” Principal Hong listened, feeling a bit contemplative, ”That just so happens to be the year when that faction’s influence increased.”

Dr. Luo remained silent.

The atmosphere in the cabin was somewhat oppressive, and both fell silent for a long time. Dr. Luo couldn’t help but sigh, ”Old Hong, do you think the Alliance will completely split in the future?”

”I don’t know.” Principal Hong pressed his lips together, ”No matter what, small figures like us can’t influence the decisions of those big shots at the top.”

”Then—” Dr. Luo hesitated a bit, ”This matter?”

”Report it!”

”Of course, report it.” Principal Hong made the decision without hesitation: As for what to do about it, let others worry about it.”

After saying that, Principal Hong looked at Dr. Luo and said, ”Luo Wei, you’ve been busy all day, go rest first.”

Dr. Luo looked up and glanced out at the abandoned docking port, ”What about those two ship owners?”

Principal Hong said in a deep voice, ”Naturally, others will handle that.”

”Alright then.”

Dr. Luo said, ”I’m off to sleep.”

...

After Dr. Luo left, Principal Hong, with his hands behind his back, leisurely walked to the students’ cabin and stopped at Yu Song’s door, lifted his foot, and kicked it, ”Get up, hurry up, in 5 minutes, the spaceship takes off, you’re responsible for piloting.”

Principal Hong’s voice wasn’t loud, but it was incredibly penetrating and even carried spiritual pressure. Yu Song, startled, opened his eyes groggily, and hearing this, fell directly off the bed.

Fortunately, there was a door blocking it, so the principal and the classmates probably didn’t notice his embarrassing situation. Yu Song inwardly sighed in relief.

Suddenly—

Principal Hong said, ”You’re relieved too soon, I already saw it.”

Yu Song stumbled, nearly falling again.

Steadying his mind, Yu Song stood up anew and opened the door, ”Principal, you... you’re saying I should be the main pilot?”

Really... are you sure?

Yu Song could not deny it: he was indeed the least capable among the 10 people; he had neither outstanding Physical Talent nor astonishing spiritual power talent.

He wasn’t S-Class.

Like Sheng Qingyan, he was Double A.

Principal Hong seemed to know what Yu Song was thinking and said lightly, ”Indeed, it’s because you’re the weakest that I’m letting you handle it.”

Yu Song: ”...”

Yu Song was actually a very gentle, steady, and rational person. However, hearing these words, he indeed felt like taking a swing at someone.

Ahem...

Can’t beat them.

Then forget it.

After weighing the situation, Yu Song calmed down completely, and he was utterly calm, without the slightest bit of frustration from being criticized or a sudden surge of strong will to fight. He was calm, to the point it might come off as indifferent.

Looking at Principal Hong, Yu Song respectfully said, ”Principal, rest assured, I’ll complete the task you’ve assigned.”

Principal Hong, hands behind his back, seemed unsatisfied with Yu Song’s reaction, feeling this kid really wasn’t enticing enough, not spirited enough, how could this be?

Students, after all, need some prodding.

And so.

Principal Hong glanced at the other students’ cabins and said, ”The task of piloting this time back is entirely yours, I won’t switch people halfway, so do your best.”

Yu Song, upon hearing this, was a bit surprised, but still nodded seriously, ”Yes, understood.”

Principal Hong said, ”Your teammates are Yue Qiguang, Sheng Qingyan, and Liu Fufeng.”

Yu Song was about to nod enthusiastically, but after hearing the whole sentence, his fingers trembled, thinking he heard wrong, and said with a slight pause in his tone, ”Principal, may I know why?”

Principal Hong replied casually, ”No reason, just thought these three would be troublesome.”

Yu Song: ”...”

For the first time taking on a big responsibility and being assigned these three teammates, Yu Song’s mind was indeed like a stormy sea.

So...

Does the principal find me disagreeable? Where exactly?

Yu Song thought it over, certain he hadn’t caught Principal Hong’s attention before, and had never done anything outrageously inappropriate. Logically, he was the kind of obedient and hardworking student, entirely focused on tasks and self-improvement...

The kind teachers like most, right?

Then there was only one possibility:

—The principal wants to train me.

Assigning me three really challenging teammates is just to increase the difficulty, allowing me to have more diverse, unpredictable training.

In other words, it’s entirely for my benefit.

In the team, I’m indeed too mediocre, whether it’s in spiritual power, Physical Strength, or practical ability, personality... all are in a not high, not low status.

I do need the opportunity.

After figuring it out, Yu Song’s mentality became even more peaceful. Looking at Principal Hong, he said earnestly, ”Principal, rest assured, I’ll try to communicate well with them.”

Principal Hong felt bored instantly.

This kind, no matter how you tease, is incredibly steady without much emotional fluctuation, and to Principal Hong, such a student is like a dull rooster, which should crow every morning, yet doesn’t jump or call...

Boring.

And so, Principal Hong gave Yu Song a sideways glance and said, ”I’m not sure if you’ll finish the task, my only request is don’t be stupid enough to steer the spaceship into a black hole.”

Yu Song: ”...”

Yu Song felt a bit downcast. However, it vanished in a moment: opportunities for independent training are rare. No matter what, he had to strive for more possibilities.

Principal Hong did not know Yu Song’s inner thoughts, nor did he care to know, as he made his way back to his own resting area, hands still behind his back.
